I loved this man so much. It breaks my heart to know someone killed this great person and got away with murder. I certainly have my conspiracy theory, you people will pay for what you've done when you answer to the higher power. Sam, we'll always have your music to remember you and when I get to heaven, I'll give you a big kiss and hug and tell you how much you where loved here, if you didn't know. To the awful people who took this great man out of the world, you will pay dearly for ur sin
@LennartPaulsen-I don't know if you can still download "Sam Cooke American Masters", but I downloaded it a few months ago by going to Google and typing in "Vimeo American Masters Sam Cooke". You can watch it there, too.
I know that the phrase, "I'm too young to die" is a cliche that many use without comprehendin its full message, but when you're as gifted and as influential as Sam Cooke was back then and die at the very young age of 33 (same age Christ was when He was crucified), what other phrase is merited??? I mean this man single handedly pioneered a spirit of pride for African Americans... when he disband the hairstyle known as "The Process", so did the rest of black America. What more needs to be said????
@poetryselite To be honest, I understand completely what you're saying but let's never put a mere man on the same level of Christ, who is God manifested but ALIVE and risen. Many died at 33 from all walks of life.
Sam once sang Gospel about the Lord, but like many tempations he was dragged off and enticed by the other side and unfortunately died that way. There is a lot of mystery but the painful manner he died is still very clear what happened spiritually. Pray
@VersatileMind4Christ You misunderstood what I was sayin, I wasn't comparin Sam to that of Christ, I was just statin the obvious bein that he was taken at the same age. And I'm so fed up with people tryin to interlock his tragic death with bein the reason he chose to pursue R&B and Pop!!!!! Sam simply sought the best for he and his family and executed the plan... he neva stopped singin Gospel cuz as Lou Rawls stated, "That's where his heart was".
Cooke loved gospel and incorperated the sound of it more into his music in his last years.
He loved it, he just takes the heat most for leaving it, many many singers did the same thing after Sam opened the door, Sams just the one who got condemned about it,Bobby womack stated that Everyone else could go from church to pop easily because sam had already took all the heat.
Im just agreeing with your statment man, Pop music didnt kill Sam
Sam was a great guy, fantastic person, not one person in the business believed the story that came out, about how he died, there was just something wrong with all that, for those of us who knew him,and loved him, there will always be an unanswered question.R.I.P. my dear friend. You now sing with the greatest band ever.Sincerely,The Original Chevelles.
if you believe in that whole thing, sam and james brown are up there celebratin' the soul right now, can you dig it?

I agree Ms. Kitty. It's hard for me to listen to Sam's music sometimes because he was robbed of his life and of his career.

I Really like your comment,
Sam had many more great things he could've achieved
as many deceast artist did,
but sam was doing things other black artist was'nt
an its impressive and would've been very influiential
he was a singer with many styles, he was a songwriter & producer, he owned
a beer Bar on the eastcoast an even decided to go into Movies & broadway in the future but he died to young, its a shame
