  • My friends mother met Tool (minus Maynard, who dissapeared into a back room with a woman dressed like a cat) and said Adam is the nicest, most down-to-earth guy she knows. Tool rocks.

  • They aren't alternate

  • I love Tool, but I have a feeling that this game is gonna start opening some younger generations to tool, which has good and bad sides. I love the fact that it just the artwork. It really differentiates the game from the typical venues. Rock on Tool.

  • seeing them live next month!!!

    FUCKIN A!!!

  • Is it me or does Adam seem like the nicest guy ever?

  • I really, really hated the TOOL part in World tour.

Shitty songs, Unnecerily long and dragged out, and whatever that acid trip was it got boring after the first loop.

TOOL really is just a collection of Tools.

  • @ShadeCrenshaw We obviously have a Guns N Roses fan everyone. Give them a warm welcome.

  • @ainsleywalker Guns N Roses?

Heard of them, but never heard anything from them.

  • @ShadeCrenshaw Hmm well the way you were ranting on about Tool was very much like a fan of straight forward metal/rock. the kind of people who dont 'get' tool or any bands that write outside the box a bit. Disliking a band is fine of course, but the way you went on was a bit narrow minded.

  • @ainsleywalker I just really did not see the point in the acid trip OR the fact that their songs are stupidly long.

  • @ShadeCrenshaw Because they use a lot of visual art and wanted to incorporate that, as they've never been into glamourising their own image. As for song lengths, Schism and Parabola are around 6mins, and Vicarious is around 7. If i'm not mistaken Pull Me Under - Dream Theater (the end song of the game) is around 8 minutes. Some of the best songs on there are pretty long. The song isn't long to be flash, it's just the way they work, the last few albums has a lot of long, arty songs.

  • @ShadeCrenshaw fuckin' rat piss maggot cunt! - Alf Stewart

  • so in the game is ur cheracter suposed to take dmt before the gig r sumthin? r do they just naturally start tripping the fuck out

  • whats the name of the song in the background

  • I sold out long before you ever even heard my name.

  • Its not selling out when the band is trying to appeal to a younger audience before someone like kesha or chris brown does.

  • Holy shit! Chewbacca plays guitar for Tool!

  • This took me a long time to buy this gig xD (In Guitar Hero i mean)

  • HOLY FUCKIN SHIT

  • This reminds me of that time dave floated away

  • if anyone here saying they sold actually is as amazed and consumed by tool as I am then you'd know the truth....

All you know about me is what I've sold you,

    Dumb fuck.

I sold out long before you ever even heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,

    Dip shit,

    And then you bought one.

  • This is honestly the only reason I still play world tour (that and Satch Boogie). I didn't know about this at first so when I reached the tool section I nearly failed the songs because I kept paying attention to the backgrounds. So awesome

  • @th3m0vingshad0w Oh, just to add. To those who say Tool sold-out to do this. F**k you. You know who the biggest sell out band of all time was? The Beatles. So if you hate sell-outs then you hate the Beatles. Then you can definitely go f**k yourself. Selling out doesn't necessarily = sh**ty music. It happens sometimes? Yes, but not always. Tool still remains an amazing band

  • I dont agree that this is selling out. most people recognize that videogames like Guitar Hero and Rockband are a good way to get kids into good music. Where things like MTV have failed us, videogames are making up for the pop bullshit the record companies want you to listen to. Im pretty sure Tool recognizes this, I highly doubt they need money or want anymore. Maynard is making a vineyard for fucksakes

  • yea so im just saying....that guy totally looks like chewbacca

  • Buy, buy!!! You fucker!!

  • sell outs

  • @SopLusus

selling out is selling something that has nothing to do with what you do. they make music. they sell music, medium need not apply.

  • @typO969 Right, turning something like TOOLs amazing art into staring at a screen with a plastic guitar. And on the contrary, selling out has everything to 'do with what you do.'

  • @SopLusus

i think andy worhol would disagree [however was not an amazing artist to me] --art is simply that. they aren't making money off of something that doesn't showcase and open the eyes and ears of the 'uninitiated' to something new. tool's focus according to maynard from the beginning is that people will use their music as a tool to obtain something better than themselves. any artist regardless of genre or style has to keep their eyes open for new opportunities to share what they love. :)

  • @SopLusus If you want to entertain or 'enlighten' the public you need to sell out a little bit to make enough money to continue creating albums. Ever listened to "Hooker with a Penis"?

  • @Excovon Yes, I love that song, and I love TOOL, and I hate guitar hero, and it turns good art into popstar shit. There's a difference between selling out and being affiliated with nonsense that screws up the integrity of what you'd be willing to sell out for.

  • @SopLusus You hate Guitar Hero, so that means that TOOL sold out to something stupid? What I'm getting from this is your opinion of Guitar Hero affects your opinion of what TOOL affiliated themselves with. Let's say you happened to like the Disney Channel. If TOOL sold themselves out to them, I doubt I'd see you complaining. It comes down to a very simple point. If you don't like the idea of TOOL on Guitar Hero, don't play TOOL on Guitar Hero.

  • @Excovon Why wouldn't I hate Disney? :\ I don't think you know what you're talking about.

  • @SopLusus I'm not saying you like Disney, it was a hypothetical. I'm saying your opinion of Guitar Hero is making your opinion of what TOOL affiliates themselves with biased. TOOL likes Guitar Hero, TOOL wants their songs on Guitar Hero.

  • Remember, we are eternal and all this pain is an illusion.

  • 0:07 thers a song in the background that goes on threw the video, whats it called? if U help me i subscribe U

  • Ahh went to NY to see Alex's Studio. It's so unreal, I advise everyone to check it out.

  • @inkbullets im going when he opens the new one up state! My name is on the 10,000 days TOOL homage thing!

  • GO ALEX GREY!

  • playing this was EPIC

  • 1:18 - 1:20

Oh Adam. Silly man you are.

    lmao

  • fuck, its pretty simple, they did this cuase they felt like it. they always said that TOOL was a very selfish process and that thye did what they wanted to do. clearly, they got to do the game their own way. any really think that someone else could have gotten thier own venue, apart from the fact that all the other bands probably just said ok put our music on it, bye, TOOL made it their own

  • he got a blister from using the strum bar on a guitar hero controller, just thought I'd let u kno

  • GODDAMN!!! SHIT THE BED!!!

  • Can't remember what they said!!!

  • Holy Fuckin Shit!!!

  • @AHTSvideo BOB, HELP ME!!!!!

  • 1:05 a blister on your thumb? what instrument can do that Adam? Sounds almost like he never played it..

  • doesnt matter, he does the real thing

  • He plays a real guitar my friend lol :P (sarcasm)

  • @killplaystation You tend to hit the strum-bar with your thumb on guitar hero lol?

  • und kiene eier

  • DIE EIER VON SATAN! looool

  • satan's eggs???

  • Man i love seeing new manifestations of the band!

Especially in clips like this where alex and adam, or any other band member is so positively outspoken.

It's nothing more than a great reminder that T00L is bound to cover just a little more ground...

    Stay Weird.

  • Wish they would have put Lateralus the SONG into it as well. It being my favorite and all, I think it would be freaking badass to play it while floating through some kick ass Alex Grey artwork!! Just my opinion.

Side note: thought people messing up notes and having it make that awful noise, would probably kill it for me, especially if it was me ruining it :P hah.

  • Tool somehow manage to enforce everything be done the way they want, according to their vision. From what I heard, it's actually in the contract with their label that the label is not allowed to mess around with Tool's music. They've shown their sense of vision again here. Great band, great artists.

  • i think it's like their music and what they create is just so unique and.. well, special, that no one would even dare to get in the way of tool's visions.

at least, i would be scared of what maynard could do to me, in a psychological way :D

  • I'm surprised they did this.

  • I was surprised until I saw this video; it is a little better that they contributed artistically. Besides, Maynard said (well, sang) over ten years ago:

I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,

    Dip shit,

    And you bought one.

  • So Ive got some

    Advice for you, little buddy.

    Before you point your finger

    You should know that

    Im the man,

    If Im the fuckin man

Then youre the fuckin man as well

    So you can

Point that fuckin finger up your ass.

  • wtf

  • GUITAR HERO: TOOL

  • Fuck yeah..

Playing 46 & 2 by tool on guitar hero would be like... wow, a new kind of drug

  • An Aerosmith Guitar Hero - Cool

A Beatles Guitar Hero - Awesome

    A Tool Guitar Hero - ...0_0...

  • a beatles rock band XP

  • Tool Guitar Hero would be different. Tool isn't meant for everyone, and I like it that way.

  • whats the name of the background music??

  • Do you think that Adam ACTUALLY likes the game? Or was he told to say that? It doesn't seem like him or Tool to support guitar hero.

  • Money is money even if you already have it. They are human after all.

  • duder, tool doesn't get told to do anything.

  • they do support guitar hero cause the only reason that TOOL was in it was because they got to design the level in which you play their songs.

  • Btw, anyone know if they might be on Guitar Hero 5?

  • No, they're not but the band A Perfect Circle will be on it, which is a band similar to Tool and has the same singer.

    Look here:

    eurogamer[DOT]net/articles/full-gh5-band-list-confirmed

  • I wish they would have gotten The Pot, and Prison Sex...but GH doesn't allow curse words which I think is bullshit. But still, better some Tool than none at all.

  • Well, at least Adam seems like a cool guy. Maynard probably didn't have shit to do with the entire process, because he refuses to acknowledge that he's even in a band that plays heavy music anymore. He just makes wine and hangs out with Milla Jovovich now, didn't you know?

  • I would have liked to play lateralus :/ too bad they didn't include it

  • i cant find there songs on itunes. cn some1 please help?

  • they didnt sign with itunes buy the cd or just watch them here

  • @TrunksTheHeroOfTime Tool doesn't have any music released in iTunes. They're really against that, so you'll have to buy the cd's which is much better.

  • LOL they don't have songs on itunes. Why? Because their music is meant to be heard collectively.

  • For all the new comers to Tool's music, try these on for size:

Any song off the Lateralus album like:

    The Grudge

    Ticks & Leeches

Any song off the Opiate album.

As for roots, I've yet to see a Tool song being smeared accross General Motors or McDonalds commericals. I'm just saying...

  • what song is that in the background?

  • I hope they make a guitar hero Tool =D

  • last song is lateralus for drums

    last song for guitar jambi

all somgs for singing will be impossible

    and for bass the Pot

  • guitar hero is really good at introducing music

i listen to tool now cuz of it

  • True, same with me.

  • also im definitely looking to hear more of their music. they seem very unique and original

  • honestly, i think ppl are taking this whole tool staying true to their roots way too seriously. its a fucking game. games are made to entertain. tool just happens to be apart of this phenomenon. good for them. to be honest i never really heard much of tool until i heard them being in guitar hero. i heard their song vicarious and was amazed by it. guitar, drums, bass, lyrics especially. just accept it for what it is. no ones opinion matters to anyone else on here.

  • i read one of the tool news letters a while ago and blair blake said that they would never license their music to guitar hero. but apparently...

  • Yea i read that too. They were making fun of the people who actually played guitar hero. It pissed me off once i heard this.

  • Don't take anything Blair says seriously. He is known for being mysteriously sarcastic. You never know if what he's saying is true or not.

  • Considering that their Aenima album is decidated to Bill Hicks. If you ever saw his sketch on New Kids On the Block lol...

  • Definitely happens on all the songs but it is worse (or better, depending on your perspective) during the Tool venue.

  • I think it's great Tool are doing this. I love the band and GH so this is awesome. :D

  • Alex Gray does some of the most amazing art i have ever seen

  • @Noeldiego:

Well, since you claim to be a Toolhead est. circa the early 90s you ought to know by now that Tool is fucking mainstream.

You don't sell 10 million albums in the U.S. alone without any goddamn exposure.

Maybe I should be crying foul too that a new generation of people are going to be exposed to one of the greatest bands in existence.

You should have faith in Tool, they will never compromise their artistic vision no matter the effects of their actions.

  • concurred. Why should we be so bothered by the fact that artists who actually give a shit about the art and work to make it intelligent and deep become recognized for it by the masses and use outlets available to further perpetuate the art? Shouldn't we be happy that in a world full of plastic commercialim with Brittany Spears and Hannah Montana, there are true artists out there that people are gravitating towards en masse because the art is honest, inspiring, spiritualy centered, and real?

  • Agreed.

I've never understood the notion that for a band to "stay true" to their roots or not be accused of selling out that they must do almost nothing with regards to promoting themselves.

I don't know of any band that *doesn't* want continually more people to hear their music.

What better way than showcasing a few songs on one of the most popular game franchises while doing it *your* way.

Ah well, can't please everyone I guess.

  • Absolutely, I remember the days of when ever a band did a music video, they had automatically sold out. Now, even the smallest and unkown of bands will typically have a music video in some form. I don't think video games are going to be as direct, but I think it's definetly a testiment to Tool's inginuity and drive that they are willing to take the video game format and help it along towards a new and more artistic path. Kudos

  • i agree but i wouldn't say mainstream...

  • Aye, perhaps not the right words. Not mainstream in relation to, say, Hannah Montana or Zac Efron but they are still quite popular.

  • Im a Toolhead since the early 90, why o why have they licensed their music to GH? Mainstreamalert! Is nothing holy anymore, fuck dude.......

  • Because those of us who love Tool want to play their songs on the video game, get the fuck over yourself

  • I have a real instrument kid, guess again

  • i gotta try playing this game on mushrooms then!

  • damn man when i first played gh i watched my fucking clock and it was fucking moving!!!i was scared as shit!!!i thought i had lost it...everything that was in range of my sight was moving!!!

  • Definitely have noticed this. It is drugs without the chemicals :P

  • It happens with all of the songs, just stare at the highway of notes and then stare at the wall. It's nothing exciting...

  • whether i play the tool songs or others, my whole room seems to move upward. kinda trippy. but the tool venue truly is the shit. oh and the song selection is fukken gr8 also

  • which song works best???

  • TOOL IS TOURING SUMMER OF 09!!!

  • Adams hair always rocks

  • Why wasn't James Manyard Keenan interviewed?

He's the lead singer, isn't he?

  • Maynard hates interviews

  • does anyone know the song that is being played in the background of the video

  • i wanted sober 2 b in it but hey they got my other fav songs in it.

  • I think this is a good thing..People need to experience the Magic of Tool. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't!

  • i'm gonna buy the game now...I can't play tool songs on my real guitar...too hard!!!

  • I think "Reflection" and "Lateralus" are Tool's best songs. I hope they use one of these.

  • i had hoped "The Pot" would've been on there, i love that song!

  • Put Prison Sex and Hooker with a Penis lmao

  • Martin You win epically!! Mhhmmm Prison sex with Abuse and all that :P

  • i kinda dont like it that they're on GH :( thats how pep listen to 1 song and know nothng about them and just say they're the best band and they''ve only listened to that 1 song or CD excuse grammar lol its 4 am for me

  • yea, i fuckin hate how there go gh. so fuking lame

  • I hate that too. alot of people have HEARD who was in my room last ngiht by the butthole surfers but never listen to other stuff. Same With Skynyrd iv been listening to skynyrd for 9 years and iv always been fond of FREEBIRD till it was on GH and ppl were like SKYNYRD FTW. GH i play GH for fun im not serious at it. i play real guitar so much fun. and my UCLE STEVE got me into tool. and i played it on gh and now everyone i know is like YEEEAH TOOL FTW MAN. it pisses me off.

  • why are you mad that a game is introducing older music to newer generations? we should be applauding what guitar hero has done and that is get the youth introduced to epic music of our time.

  • first off 1-3 songs by one band does not make a band its the attitude is what makes the band. like butthole surfers. who was in my room last night is not thiere best song. okay it is a good thing to do that but. like doesnt it make you mad when someone says that the best song from a band is a song of of guitarhero? thats what makes me mad about it.

  • Thats what ive always said, i dont understand why people get so annoyed with it

  • Yeah but so what thats exactly what the radio and media outlets do, its up to someone who isn't a dumb ass toolbag to delve deeper into things that interest them. Spread the good music, nevermind the idiots. And if gh can inspire someone to learn how to rock for real awsome, if not so what enjoy the plastc

  • Why is my last comment down graded? Sometimes we Tool fans are impatient because 5 years is kind of too long :P

  • im wondering too xD

  • hmmmmm. yeah that eyeball was scaring me.

  • To TooL:

GET OFF YOUR FUCKING ASSES AND FINISH THE NEW ALBUM ALREADY!!! I am dying to hear new songs from you!!!!

  • so me too :D:D:D

  • they should fucking put 46 and 2!!! Fucking sweet drum solo!!!

Also they should add songs like H., The grudge, The patient, Jambi, Intention,(Trying to think what is appropriate for GH fanboys) errmmm, Lateralus (For teaching kids about the Fibonacci science, Spiral out!!) and i cannot really think about appropriate for kids nowadays... Unless Jerk off and Hush are made from other fans through Scorehero...

Haha those songs would be sweet!!

  • oh i know one for the kids!

    hooker with a penis =]

    lmao i love that song:P

  • HOOKER WITH A PENIS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe love the bass lines on it

  • more importantly who the fuck labled this alternative metal???!!!????

  • PSDL

  • this comment was a while ago but needs to awarded, Phillybuger6 "adam jones is chewbacca." hahahahahahahah. tool, top 5 greatest bands to walk this earth, even if with Chewbacca playin the 6string!

  • i want a tool pack to come out with any songs as long as sobers there itll be all good! i also want some incubus packs and qotsa packs

  • why the fuck did tool do guitar hero?!?!?

  • If people hear tool on guitar hero they might become tool fans? maybe idk

  • Mostly because they got to tell the designers just how to make their set and art.

    And they got money........

  • im with u dude, Tool should stand above all that comercial bullshit.

  • if Rosetta Stoned wouldnt work (swearing) then The Grudge would be my other choice. no matter what any Tool song would be awsome

  • i love the Tool venue. i think its great that they are on a game they have earned it. i just want a Tool track pack to come to download! im a huge Tool fan not just those three songs! just look at my channel. the three songed track pack that I would like to come is : Stinkfist, Lateralus and Rosetta Stoned

  • "I sold out long before you ever even heard my name. I sold my soul to make a record, dipshit, and then you bought one!"

  • Ive got some advise for you little buddy....

  • before you point your finger you should know that i'm the man...

  • @hivedestructor and if I'm the fucking man, then you're the fucking man as well. So point your fucking fingeer up your ass!!!!

  • I just wonder if getting to play the songs on Guitar Hero is worth having thousands of douches saying their favorite Tool songs "just happen" to be Schism, Parabola, and Vicarious

  • You know i dont know how to feel about it. I'm a huge tool fan who became a guitar hero fan on expert but this is the first game i havent bought. I've rented the game and played all the tool songs on all instruments and it was fun and all (especially playing through Tool venue), but i just had a sort of empty feeling playing these songs.

  • I dont know if its because i can't really rock out to Tool (because i mostly appreciate their music with out headbanging or anything of that sort) or if its because i felt guitar hero couldn't pull of Tool's music. Anyway i just stick to listening to their music and playing it on guitar. Needless to say I'm a huge Tool fan, just not on the game

  • on guitar i didnt have fun and had an empty feeling two... when i played it with my older brother( he is a bigger Tool fan than me) we had fun because he played bass(which was harder than guitar in those songs) and we had work hard to get those 3 songs. when i played the song on expert drums and finnally started to get far into the song there was no empty feel more of a sense of acompleshment and happyness

  • haha my favorite Tool songs are Vicarious and The Pot, so i guess im not a douche :)

  • I don't even own Guitar Hero World Tour. Never wanted it. Rock Band for me. But I can understand where your coming from. My favorite song is either Eulogy or H

  • Tool dont sellout,The fact that they dont even allow their music on Itunes is proof.

  • I do not think they ever will allow their music on Itunes. I think the most we will ever see is them doing it themselves if they ever choose to release material online. Like what Trent Reznor is doing with Nine Inch Nails

  • Not my beloved TOOL. Whatever, the flood gates have opened.

  • yes their songs are fuckin sick. yes the addition of tool in guitar hero made it even better. yes, their gig was my favourite to play....but 1 thing remains t be said, and i will be the first to say it...

    adam jones is chewbacca.

look at him, i dare you to deny it.

  • I just don't see it. And believe me, I've been looking. lol

  • I always loved Tool, but turned into my favorite band some weeks ago. I'm very happy I can play Vicarous, Parabola and Schism with every instrument on my GH World Tour. The most awesome band ever.

Oh, and the Tool 'stage' is just the best in the game.

  • they will be your favorite band for the rest of your life... and if you ever for get why you like tool just blast lateralus of 46 and 2.... Then you will remember

  • I got this game today but havnt played any Tool yet!

  • tool is the most awesome band ever..

  • this isnt selling out. you know what selling out is? just look at linkin park.

  • Linkin Park is definitely a sell out. Their raucous sound disappeared and it remains to be heard. The ruins can be heard in Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Tool has always been a very special band to all the true fans. The members themselves are true intellectuals. I look forward to a next record but of course good things take time to cook.
