  • but it is that all modificated and only chinese served tao society so when we will follow honesty to the very true of highest sincerly

  • It is the outside of the ship that forms it's structure, but it is the space within that gives it it's value. Although the wheel's spokes hold it's shape, it is the space between the hub that makes it useful. Be the space at the center. Be nothing, and become everything. Tis' the everflowing Tao.

  • Hm,thats interesting what you are saying. I have a chinese partner, she's Taoist, going to temple very often...and they say, they teach that anyone can be Taoist..

  • This is the first ethnic chinese that say's 'anyone' can be a Taoist. It's how you live that makes you what you are.

Most chinese that I have met say that you can't be a Taoist unless you're chinese! So, that being said, it's encouraging to hear and see this video promoting Taoism outside of cultural boundries, since, I am partial to Taoism.

tao grew up in chinese culture, so it can be very helpful to understand the chinese way of thinking if you want to get it. just like understanding math concepts is key to getting calculus.

so chinese often have some "head start" learning this stuff.

But this stuff is about life, it's universal. anyone can learn it.

I got more progress when i understood that chinese culture is all about feeling, not thinking. this stuff isn't thinking about stuff, it's paying attention to stuff.

  • @richardshapiroII Thank You for your most kind and thoughtful comments. Have any suggestions for studying and practicing Tao?

  • @richardshapiroII Its is absolutely universal, because Dao id the order of the universe! The universal order has been understood and applied by all traditional peoples, so I agree with you 100% that all people can practice living in harmony with the universal order, because it's happening everywhere.

  • @richardshapiroII,

I encourage non-Chinese to heed Richard's words, except the last paragraph "I got more progress when i understood that chinese culture is all about feeling, not thinking." If I could only tweak his words a little, it would had been very useful indeed, and I would say " Chinese culture is the only "living" culture that teach society to think with all of your senses, including feelings, yours and others'" Please look up these words "己所不欲,勿施于人", you'll understand.

You were misinformed if you were told that only Chinese could practice Tao. That very thinking goes contrary to Tao. Tao teaches the wisdom of non-being, and that out of non-being comes being, and these constantly flow into one another, as the "myriad creatures" move from stillness (yin) to activity (yang) and return to stillness (yin).

Tao says that there are some who hear Tao and diligently practice it. The one who can practice Tao is the one who has understood its message.
