I live in puerto vallarta and I miss portland so much. Love love love portland. I hear it's bad there economy wise right now, but I don't care I want to go back.
I grew up in portland. There's just this feeling you get when your there. When you smell the rain, and the trees are changing colors, and Pionieer Square is always busy and alive. There's a feeling you get inside, it's the best city in the world. ♥
what makes portland the greatest city ????? all the great people....with all their great beers, bartenders , artists and people who truely give a shit about this world and each other !! i've been here 10 years and plan to stay forever! virginia may be for lovers, but portland is for dreamers !!
I have never visited a more boring place, ever. It's funny to see nerds try to be hipsters. The weather was depressing, and the nightlife was...well, there wasn't any. I seriously have never been to a more boring place.
Okay. I have lived in portland for a year. I lived in L.A before. Portland is such a nice people place when u cume from downtown l.a. I miss L.a so much. i kinda hate portland. But there is still lots of crasy people downtown. One guy said "hey babe u doin anythin tonight" tome and my bff. he was prob like 40 . ya creepy much?
Boring? PDX is my favorite city in the US! I'm from Mexico City -it's the biggest, crazy and crowded- and I've been traveling around US from LA to NYC -SFO, MIA, LAS, CHI- and I've been in PDX 6 times and I want to be there soon.
It is kind of a boring place, but that isn't necessarily bad. Along with the so called boring, you get peacefulness and community. And there is definitely nightlife here.
Portland is a good city, but it's just not all THAT as so many people think it is. I just wish they would have signs on the street that you can read. In a lot of places in and around town, they only print signs on one side, and oftentimes only post them in one corner (if at all) of an intersection.
So you don't know the name of the street you just passed. And a lot of buildings don't have address numbers. It's remnants of a time when the town was smaller and you just know where everything is. Has its charm, but I think it needs to grow up a tad along with the expanding population. Keep the charm. Lose the ignorance.
So you don't know the name of the street you just passed. And a lot of buildings don't have address numbers. It's remnants of a time when the town was smaller and you just know where everything is. Has its charm, but I think it needs to grow up a tad along with the expanding population. Keep the charm. Lose the ignorance.
Portland, if I remember right, is the only city I've been to that does not have the signs over the middle of intersections; particularly the main streets ( 82nd Ave, Burnside, Cornell, etc )
yep, especially the community. Portland's citizens are the only one's I've seen ( for a major city ) that yield to other drivers needing to turn into a parking lot, or turn out onto a street from a parking lot, etc.
Shit, in California, if you need to cross the street, you hit the cross-walk button and run like hell because someone will be going about 20-30mph over the speed limit and blow the horn at you as they approach you ( while not slowing down! )
People in Portland are so retarded that they think they're being kind at an intersection by letting bicyclists go ahead of them, when they get there first. The bicyclist has to "sigh" and get off his peddles. The drivers just need to follow the traffic laws.
Did I say we were "kind" to allow others to pull in at intersections?
Saying a bicyclist has to sigh is really over-exaggerating! Usually it is the driver sighing because the bicyclist just goes right out there and think they're above any laws!
Obviously, you're rather clueless when it comes to different aspects of our city. You either don't live here, or don't pay attention to what's going on.
Portland isn't the most glamourous ( and thankful it isn't ), but try going to pretty much most of the mid-west or the Rocky Mtn states, and I don't mean places like St. Louis, Denver, etc.
I mean places like Sioux Falls SD, Rock Springs, WY, most of Kansas, etc.
LIES, ALL LIES. It's ironic that it's been raining for the last 20 days (straight) and it will rain for 20 more. NONE of the images show a drop of rain! Ha ha hah ha!
I agree! One of the reasons I moved here myself. You don't have to shovel the rain everyday, and not too many places in the country that are mild in temperatures like we are.
It's never happened in the past 15+ yrs I've been living here. We had like 23 days of rain ( which is mostly drizzle ) one December about 10 yrs ago but nothing like what you're implying.
Sure, we do have a lot of rainy days ( about 160 of them a year ) but this video was not LIES, ALL LIES that you say.
This is so beyond comprehension. A lot of people in Portland are in denial. The summers can be beautiful, but oftentimes, it's very hot and bothersome. The other 9 to 10 months is affectionately known to the locals as "Mildew" season.
I wouldn't classify our summers ( in Portland ) as very hot and bothersome. That is just plain whining. Our summers average about 80-85 ( with low humidity too, and not windy ) and cool to the 50's or 60's at night.
Eastern OR is totally different with highs often reaching well over 100 and wildfires are common.
Our "mildew" season as you put it, is about 4 months long--from mid Nov to around late Feb.
Good job on the video. What is that song? It is totally cool...goes well with your pics. And, Portland does not suck...it is NOT too cold. I LOVE THE RAIN.
I agree with you. Wish a lot of other people in Portland would. They love the scenery and decide to move here, not taking into thought why it is so green here. You don't have to shovel the rain and it is a lot easier to warm up than it is to cool down.
Unless you live in Cal or the south, Portland is the warmest spot you'll find and easily the most mild of all temps. We get about 20 days above 90 degrees and about 5 days a year below 32 degrees. Not too many places across the US will you find that, and I have been all over the country too various times of the year.
Miami, LA, San Diego, all Florida ( all these qualify as Cal or the south that I had in comments ) and no, Portland is warmer than NY and Washington DC--not in the summer but definately in the winter!! The east coast and the upper midwest/rockies are about the coldest spots! Portland isnt' the greatest, but better climate-wise than about 75% of the US
I mean what is your point? you said "UNLESS" that means that all the places of south and Cali are better than Portland, there are lots of places in the south.
That is why i said Portland sucks. I compare Portland with the best of United States not with Idaho of course.
Hey. G1974LATIN has a closed account. He must have gotten in trouble. I think G1974LATIN has never been to Portand. People shouldn't talk ill about a city unless they have been there.

You obviously didn't go to the Panorama... not sure if it's still open though. Go to Salem OR... it's much more boring.
Monchichigood4me 5 years ago
Salem is one of the most dangerous locations in Oregon. Lots of gun-related crimes, assaults, etc. I wouldn't classify that as "boring" LOL
Seriously tho, it is still within an hours distance to either Mt. Hood, the coast, Silver Falls, etc.

There is no tolerance in Portland for anything or anyone who's really different. It's okay to be different, as long as you're like us.

Windiest state: Wyoming
