i have both a ps3 and gaming pc and play them about the same, some games just feel better with a controller like mw3 or any other cod. But the visuals are definately better on pc.
Why do people still go ape shit arguing that PC is better? Of course it is. We all know PC is better by a long shot, and always will be no matter what. PS3 however is not a bad console to have but it may not be the best FPS priority. Xbox is alright but the graphics are beginning to lack, and it doesn't even seem to support 1080p at all anymore. It's just preferences if people want consoles, or if people want PC; Obviously people are different.
I love how people believe that next Gen consoles will out perform PC. Just look the gpu in the xbox 720 that was announced is horrible. The 6670 is outdated and cheap. I don't think I will be buying a console again. I'll stick to my rig : D

PC is focusing on Graphics,while consoles like Xbox360 are on technology and Ps3 is focusing on the quality experience... thats my oppinion, some people just want graphics. as for me i want gameplay or Game design. i had bad experiences from spending my money on some good graphic games...

MW3 has worse graphics and runs at 60fps so thats the trade off. its 3 factors, the resolution, the overall graphics and eye candy and the frames per second, 1 has to go. in this case the framerate went

Im not the least depressed that I have a playstation 3. Frankly, no PC on the market out there with a 240 price tag can run games like the ps3 at that setting. BF3 for console is nothing like PC. I play on console and it's fun.. but a PC can do everyday tasks, be a bluray player, do a college paper, and a ton of other great things... on top of all that, you can properly modify games to enhance your experience (mod in a non cheating way). Hell, you can mod the PC itself. Lol. Both are cool, but I wouldn't mind owning a PC for gaming..
Every PC is different. Sure, if you have £2000 to spend on a computer then of course it will have better graphics than a £220 PlayStation 3. But if you don't (like me) and put BF3 into an average £400 laptop, it will turn out shit.

Consoles have always been far more effeciently designed than PCs and better gaming machines until ridiculous power and money is thrown at the PC.
Consoles are also designed to a low price point hence the PS3 has only 256MB of RAM. PC gaming started off with no colour or sound let alone 3D cards. On release the SNES and PS1 had games the PC couldn't do.
imagine if Microsoft or Sony had a price point of 1k, using custom board and chip designs.

@kaiquecorrea 3970x is from 2011, the cell development program started before 2006 sometime. They are made to do different tasks. The cell vs a GPU is a much more realistic comparison as the cell is programed to mathematical calculations. If you had put the cell in a regular PC, it would suck dick.

@monsmus Yes and no. The cell itself is not strong enough compared to other CPUs when there is more than just mathematical calculations in an application. The PS3 is overhyped to the skyes. Most people don't know that only 1% of PS3 games are full HD, that the PS3 doesn't do real Antiailising etc.

@kropotkin888 My motherboard and RAM are from 2005, my biggest upgrade was last year... 2 GTX 460's for SLI. The second newest piece of hardware is my cpu, it's from 2008. This machine runs BF3 just fine at Ultra for singleplayer, tho I have to drop settings to high for multiplayer. I had been using 9800 GTX+'s before, which did run BF3 good at medium/high settings. Radeon 4850?? Your friend needs to upgrade, that card only does up to DX10. BF3 is DX11.
@RalphCQ No, BF3 should run fine on the 4850. It is Direct x 10.1 and the 9800gtx+ is Direct x 10, therefore, it it ran on the 9800gtx+, it will run just as well if not better on the 4850.

Even today, the 9800 GTX+ is still among the faster cards from 2008. I'm using a single one in my second PC, and it's still doing great. Sure, you have to drop resolution and graphics settings, but it CAN do it.

@LCNismo I have a fair amount of money, and I use a PS3. I'd rather save my money for bills, supplies, emergency pints at the pub, you know, the essentials of life. If you are younger and live with parents/guardian, I guess it isn't a problem, but when you are on your own, you need to watch your money,a nd a PS3 is a good way to do that (about £200 for a 320GB, free online unlike Xbox 360 so slightly higher price pays off). I'm basically trying to say: don't say stuff that isn't true.
What most people don't seem to realize is that for the PS3, the game is the same for everyone. It looks that same on every console, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues, and a 320GB PS3 is around £225.
But for PC, everyone is different. And your PC has to be a damn good one to get the graphics up to that standard. Also, PC's weren't designed for gaming in the beginning, otherwise they would all come with controllers, etc.
I suppose it all comes down to, do you have the money?
What a lot of people dont seem to get is not everyone has the money to upgrade computers to supper grahics and spec's. It only takes a few month for a computers specs to go out of date to what is new out on the market. Game developer develop these games on High spec pc's but they have an average rendering for consoles. While a lot of us agree P.C gameplay is much better you know when you buy a console and that the spec wont go out of date and you are going to be able to play that new game.
There is just more of a constant action on the PC considering the maps are more full of players. I only played rush on the console because conquest seemed to be too slow paced because of the size of the maps and number of players. On the PC though, Conquest Large is the only game mode I play as the maps are much more filled throughout even when the maps are significantly larger.
Disregarding graphics completely. The PC is definitely more fun to play on when compared to the consoles. I have played BF3 on both the Xbox and the PC. Since I said "disregarding graphics" it can be assumed that game play on the PS3 and Xbox are the same since graphics are the only difference between the two consoles. The PC is so much better that I can't even bring myself to play the console version anymore. 64 players and larger maps is so much more superior to only 24players on cut down maps

Hi! Im going to by this game on PC now, converting from xbox, when I found myself bored to death with max 24 players on a map like caspian border and such... so my question is, will these computer settings be enough to play the game on ultra? The computer is stationary and have got intel core i5 4 core cpu on 4*3,3Ghz, Geforce GTX570 graficcard, 16GB ram, 120GB Sata3 SSD harddrive. 24" Full HD Led screen. BF3 for console is nothing like PC. I play on console and it's fun.. but a PC can do everyday tasks, be a bluray player, do a college paper, and a ton of other great things... on top of all that, you can properly modify games to enhance your experience (mod in a non cheating way). Hell, you can mod the PC itself. Lol. Both are cool, but I wouldn't mind owning a PC for gaming..

Consoles have always been far more effeciently designed than PCs and better gaming machines until ridiculous power and money is thrown at the PC.
Consoles are also designed to a low price point hence the PS3 has only 256MB of RAM. PC gaming started off with no colour or sound let alone 3D cards. On release the SNES and PS1 had games the PC couldn't do.
imagine if Microsoft or Sony had a price point of 1k, using custom board and chip designs.

Besides, an i7 is much much more powerfull than the cell. As I said earlier, a x86 CPU is able to do MULTIPLE TASKS AT ONCE, while the cell almost can't do that. It works well for games/one thing at the time as it is that it is supposed to do. @kaiquecorrea 3970x is from 2011, the cell development program started before 2006 sometime. They are made to do different tasks. The cell vs a GPU is a much more realistic comparison as the cell is programed to mathematical calculations. If you had put the cell in a regular PC, it would suck dick.

@monsmus Yes and no. The cell itself is not strong enough compared to other CPUs when there is more than just mathematical calculations in an application. The PS3 is overhyped to the skyes. Most people don't know that only 1% of PS3 games are full HD, that the PS3 doesn't do real Antiailising etc.

Cell has a theoretical peak performance of just 20.8 GFLOPS in double precision, which means it achieves a varying percentage of that value depending on how well the software is optimized. A Bloomfield processor achhieves around 50 GFLOPS on generic benchmarks, while a Gulftown one achieves over 100 GFLOPS. Sandy Bridge pushes it even further with the AVX instruction set.

@kropotkin888 My motherboard and RAM are from 2005, my biggest upgrade was last year... 2 GTX 460's for SLI. The second newest piece of hardware is my cpu, it's from 2008. This machine runs BF3 just fine at Ultra for singleplayer, tho I have to drop settings to high for multiplayer. I had been using 9800 GTX+'s before, which did run BF3 good at medium/high settings. Radeon 4850?? Your friend needs to upgrade, that card only does up to DX10. BF3 is DX11.

@kropotkin888 lol? 9800 GTX+ is considerably faster than the Radeon 4850. XD I got a friend still using radeon 4650's in Crossfire and he's still happy with em. Radeon 6850 is a great upgrade btw (~$100), consider it.
Even today, the 9800 GTX+ is still among the faster cards from 2008. I'm using a single one in my second PC, and it's still doing great. Sure, you have to drop resolution and graphics settings, but it CAN do it.

What most people don't seem to realize is that for the PS3, the game is the same for everyone. It looks that same on every console, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues, and a 320GB PS3 is around £225.
But for PC, everyone is different. And your PC has to be a damn good one to get the graphics up to that standard. Also, PC's weren't designed for gaming in the beginning, otherwise they would all come with controllers, etc.
I suppose it all comes down to, do you have the money?

It only takes a few month for a computers specs to go out of date to what is new out on the market. Game developer develop these games on High spec pc's but they have an average rendering for consoles. While a lot of us agree P.C gameplay is much better you know when you buy a console and that the spec wont go out of date and you are going to be able to play that new game.

There is just more of a constant action on the PC considering the maps are more full of players. I only played rush on the console because conquest seemed to be too slow paced because of the size of the maps and number of players. On the PC though, Conquest Large is the only game mode I play as the maps are much more filled throughout even when the maps are significantly larger.

Disregarding graphics completely. The PC is definitely more fun to play on when compared to the consoles. I have played BF3 on both the Xbox and the PC. Since I said "disregarding graphics" it can be assumed that game play on the PS3 and Xbox are the same since graphics are the only difference between the two consoles. The PC is so much better that I can't even bring myself to play the console version anymore. 64 players and larger maps is so much more superior to only 24players on cut down maps
