The entire American political spectrum is more conservative than us and the vast majority of Europe, hence the increased religiosity, increased suspicion toward taxation, and why hot topics still include gays in the military, abortion and just on a societal level, things like interracial couples.

Well there isn't that much room for picking and choosing. I mean, those two positions are inextricably linked to one another. The more measured approach towards the state and taxation is because of the socially liberal and communal attitude towards them. There's less of an Us/Them dichotomy being perpetuated.

Funny that one. You do notice that Malcolm (and even Jamie) are perfectly civil to non-politicians. They do seem to reserve their anger for those who deserve it. I think thats what makes Tucker so appealing, he isn't a cardboard villian - hes not evil - polticians are supposed to be able to take the heat and thats what Tucker gives them.

Spot bloody on. Tucker's such a densely woven character, capable of being effervescently charming, able to rally his troops effectively and inspire respect from everyone he works with - and yet equally strikes fear into the hearts of anyone remotely useless who crosses his path. Capaldi deserves endless accolades for his portrayal.
