well the lines from bottom to top is the strings Eadgbe on your guitar. the numbers represent with fret your playing. and whichever string the number is on is the string you pluck. so hope that helps.

but if the number represents the fret ur playing on then whats the point of having a chord? cause u have to press on the strings on the fret for the chord but if the number represents which fret to play then how do u play the chord? do u know what i mean? its hard for me to explain :/
