@kallo182 I throw the mushrooms at Volgin because they absorb the electricity for his shock attacks. And, no, Volgin will not talk like the other soldiers. If you try to interrogate him, he will throw you off.

@ChamberChannel However the CQC slam caused damage where as the grab and push as seen in the video doesn't, plus you can still get of 1 kick with the slam, and I myself have tested to prove that my method does infact cause more damage in a quicker time period.

@rezzed08 When you grab Volgin, don't direct your throw with the analog stick. Press and hold the CQC button to capture Volgin exactly as you would any other soldier in MGS3.

Bear in mind that he can break free from this hold as the fight progresses on the harder difficulties.

@doow90 dude, the discernable difference between CQB and CQC is so fundamental that you cannot seperate the two. You incorporate CQC in CQB and vice versa. No one can sit there and break it down. People kill with CQC as well as disable. People can disable with CQB as well as kill. Same difference, if any at all. In short, that badass Shockley used CQC only to take down Volgin. Besides that one Patriot part.

If you had of slam thrown him it would of been twice as fast considering it's the most powerful cqc attack that doesn't kill. Also not to criticize your performance as I did enjoy watching it, but I don't think using the SAS to hit him counts as CQC, I'm pretty sure that would fall under CQB as mentioned in MGS1.

@SteveSaeteurn I guess from what I can remember his suit uses up high levels of electricity, when the current is gone is when it's safe to do CQC... and often enough what I do is I just run in there and slam his big ass to the ground, then run off and fire back as he starts to get up... but to use CQC, have to wait for the current to be gone, that's your window.

Could you give me instructions on this? When I tried any of this, I get zapped. I'm a beginner and this is my first time playing a MGS game (I know the storyline). I just didn't care after a while so I pulled out my AK-47, got to a point where he is on the edge of my screen and kept unloading full clips on him (your last bullets in your clip will go through his shield). I felt a little cheap afterwards. I've been playing on easy and I don't wanna be a noob anymore.

He spared me, I came back and he had the same damage I left him with (Half-health, one bar of stamina (no I didn't tranq him, the first fight was that long)) . So I found out where he was and snuck up behind him. I kept about a 5 foot distance from him and headshot him from behind.

On my first try I stayed prone the entire time, I traveled around the level and often searched for him with the directional mic. If I heard him, I would travel around his position until I got behind him. If he's following you, Major Zero will call you and suggest using the Motion and Sonar or the AP Detector. The bosses I like are mostly the ones that have epiphanies during their death. Or they're fair fighters.

Like Vulcan Raven, Ocelot, Psycho Mantis, Sniper Wolf, The End, and The Boss.

Something interesting to try:

Before you fight Volgin, make sure you have a Spasta in your Food Menu. Go near Volgin, eat the Spasta, and equip the mask. The Spasta mushroom makes you fall asleep... Add that with the Mask... And you can see for yourself what happens!
