I got mine done like 9 hours ago. It was a nice and clean procedure. They gave me anesthesia and then no pain at all. Even after 9 hours, I am feeling no pain at all. If you feel pain during the treatment tell your doctor and he will inject on the canal and you won't feel any pain. It is an important procedure because bacteria can not only harm the tooth but to the nerves as well which may cause great suffering in the future. Always check your x-rays too. Best of luck.

They filled it with an antibiotic paste for now to treat the abscess, so today i'm getting it, and I hope it goes well.
The swelling is due to infection inside of the root canal system that traversed the root canal system and exited out the bottom of the tooth into the surrounding gum/bone, causing swelling. It sounds like you had an acute rather than chronic infection. The antibiotics will calm the infection down, but a root canal will rid the area of the source of infection...ie infected pulp. Similar to removing a splinter. You have to treat the source. A root canal is your best option to save the tooth.

Most dentists who use it conceal it from their patients. Some, even after a patient is injured. It is below the standard of care and has been REJECTED by the FDA, yet a small group of rogue dentists still use it. Don't walk in our shoes. Life changing damage is random and can be you. well if you havent gotten one yet (the one you said you were getting) laughing gas will only cost extra ... i'm 13 years old and got mine 3 days a go and i doesnt hurt just make sure you have a good endodonist

A few weeks ago I had extreme pain in my right mandibular molar. The dentist gave me antibiotics for the swelling and it soon calmed down.
This was the 1st time I ever had pain in this particular tooth. I thought that only people who leave painful teeth for a long time need RCs...
I went to the Dentist today and he told me that I need a RC in order to save the tooth due to an abscess, even though the tooth LOOKS fine.
Are there any other options for me, other than an extraction?
