According to a HP calculator, at 12,000 ft at 55 F, a NA car should have 35.7% its power. That would mean that the BMW would have 129 HP. The Lincoln would do much better since it has turbos and is not affected by altitude as much.

To many people arent getting the point of this test. What there mainly trying to say is that the V6 ecoboost Lincoln is a great car and is capable of being placed in the same class as these other more expensive cars. Its a v6 w/twin turbo, so the power is there when u need it, but its also economical when just doing daily driving. There not saying its better than all the other cars, but simply saying that its just as good of a competitor.

I've watched a few of these 6 vs. 8 videos, and I've come to the conclusion that these tests are CRAP. The sound has been completely tailored. Like a lot of people have said, they're being timed at ridiculous altitudes.

Plus . . . let's be serious. If you have the money for a BMW 550 (or Maserati Quattroporte) vs. a Lincoln, do you care that the Lincoln went up a hill a few seconds faster?

Altitude stresses cars engines in that the higher you get, the less oxygen there is. If its a good engine it will work with little effect. And, the Lincoln did it around the same times as the other cars did, (the BMW was about 2 sec. faster BTW)

If your a BMW person ur obviously going to buy a BMW again, etc, etc. They are just simply saying that the Lincoln is a good car as well, not better, but it could be placed in the same class performance wise. Dont overlook it b cuz its a v6 is the msg.

um no, this is a twin turbo ecoboost v6 engine in the Lincoln which has less cylinders so it takes more oxygen to keep up with a V8. It has 365 horsepower, 350 lb.-ft. of torque. The same engine is in the new Ford Taurus which is faster than a Audi Quattro 0-60 at a lover altitude.

looking at the course, it makes more sense that the lincoln can peform so well. the v6 camaro down the slalom and on braking is better than the ss becuase of weight...this translates over to this test.

It sounds like they've put in V8 sounds from another car in this video. I don't think the 550i's V8 sounds quite like that, plus I've heard the same "engine noise" from every other car used in this comparison, except for the Lincoln. I hope I'm wrong about this, but this sounds fake to me.

@stigger91 I was in the 550i this past friday. That's exactly what it sounded like at WOT from the interior. But when driving normally in city traffic (Here in LA), it was very quiet. The torque and sound was just like this video shows. The interior of the car blocks out all of the outside sound, so it may sound different on the outside, but this is what it sounds like from a passenger or driver perspective. It prolly sounds totally different from the outside in.

And all other cars are normally aspirated.
