Wow... you obviously have no clue as to the devastation of depression... just because it occurs in the brain organ, doesn't mean it's "only in your head"... This kind of bootstrap mentality is just ignorant...
At (D), time, approx 3:08, the speaker says, "This confirmation is hypothetical." I find it interesting that the manufactures information says that the mechanism of action is unknown. This entire graphical display is completely hypothetical and unproven. Interesting how it is presented as if it is fact. Biomedical Engineer
@dillardmichael - the producer of the video also needs to read Robert Whitaker's books "Anatomy of an Epidemic" and "Mad in America" - the brain reacts to thes drugs and people end up with not more serotonin, but less - ....there is also no "chemical imbalance" - that idea has been proven wrong in 1983. The bell curve for serotonin levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of people whether they are or aren't depressed.
@dillardmichael Sure, it is a theory, but I don't see anywhere where it appears as if the mechanism is presented as a fact. The animation just states the steps of the theory.
Thank you so much for posting this video! It was a big help in understanding key ideas for my grade 12 biology project! Your explanations/illustrations were clean, to-the-point, and presented in an entertaining way. I cited you as one of my 20 sources. :) Thanks again! xoxo
@TheLockedBox Better read some more books - I highly reccommend Robert Whitaker's "Anatomy of an Epidemic" and "Mad in America" - these drugs do nothing to correct the fictitious "chemical imbalance" - quite to the contrary, they create an abnormal brain.
@rusureuwant2know Just checked it out. Pretty fascinating. Although you should read the part where Whitaker states he is "pro-drugs." Calm yourself down. I was doing a biology project about the MECHANISM of the drug, and how it works both in placebo in actual doses. It was not one-sided. And seriously, do you think I would have gotten 100% if I talked about how the drug I studied doesn't do anything? That'd be a short presentation.
This is mental masturbation - it sounds good, feels better, but its not the real thing. If it did work like proposed here, users wouldn't be spraying their classmates with bullets.
prozac - sounds like 'prosaic'
go check the definition.

@TheLockedBox I did read that part - he's "pro drugs" only for certain people and even for them, only for a very limited amount of time.
