@bigb0806 You take out the factory radio and you buy the double din dash bezel which you may need to trim depending on what type of double din you get. If you get a fixed double din where the screen doesnt flip down then you wont need to trim that bezel that you buy. My screen flips down and thats where the hdd and disc drive is so i had to trim it a bit.

@Kawasaki8002 I replied back to your message with a few tips and a link to help you in your guide to fixing your issue. Since I had my headunit replaced I also had the speakers rewired and that helps the sound btw, just in case you get a aftermarket HU in the future. Thank you for the rating.

to keep the info centre all you gotta do is buy one of the special info mounts from crutchfield its a little lcd screen that goes under the new deck and shows all your info real handy.
@orieoman You cant put a info center under this unit because the 7" screen is a double din unit so you have to locate the info center somewhere else as I said before. If you had a flip out single din unit you could do that but with this one you can't.

this may just be obvious...but what are those gauges at 0:55 ? I'm not sure if that's like a Clock Display or if those are something else? So in all honesty; how are you liking this? For the splash you just put a image on a blank disc and insert it in, in the menu you got to the theme settings and it will import that image. I think it needs to be a .gif image but im not entirely sure. The instructions have it all in there. The speedo is based on GPS so it wont be as accurate as the factory, however ive heard if you connect the vss sense wire to your wire that sends the speed to your factory gauge cluster then it will be just as accurate as the stock speedo. I didn't try it.
One is a voltage gauge and I believe the other is a speed gauge, the third one I forget what it was. I don't really use them, just put it up for the video. I've been using this for two years now and I'm enjoying every moment of it. I don't have any other apple product except for my iphone which I connected with bluetooth for phone calls, and I have it connected to the ipod adapter for all my songs. I actually don't have any songs stored on the HDD.
Also, since this video I added a "Pontiac" themed splash screen for when it boots up and in the background. If you want to connect a generic mp3 player you can use a left and right audio cable with a stereo jack on the other end. The backup camera comes in handy too.
You don't keep the factory information center but you can buy the scoshe kit or metra kit that they use with single din headunits and mount that in your center console or in your glove box. That's how you could keep your factory readings.

Unfortunately there isn't much choices anymore. Out of all the chain places, Bestbuy is the only one I know of., pep boys might do installs but im not sure. Tweeter and Circuit city used to do installs but they are no more. You might want to look into local car audio stores. Expect to pay at the lowest $300 for the install if you don't do it on your own. I bought the headunit, ipod adapter, bluetooth adapter, and back up camera for 1500; and that was like 1 1/2 years ago.
Nice Pioneer. By replacing the stock unit does this at all interfere with your automatic start or any of the other operations ran by the stock unit. And is the pioneer which you are using bluetooth enabled with microphone usage. I know its a lot of questions but I'm thinking of making the change to this as well. No problem at all. The does not interfere with the factory remote start. However you wont be able to see instant MPG or any other settings unless you wire a single din kit somewhere else in the car; like in the center console or the glove box. In the video I zoomed in on the mic. Mine is equipped with the bluetooth so its linked with my iphone. I listed all the options mine has in the description. Hope this helps. No, unfortunately you cannot changed the colors on this unit. You might be able to take out the lights and put in new ones, if you were good at that sort of thing.
If you want a beter sound, i´ll recomend you a few good speakers, like Brax, Focal, Rainbow, Morel, DLS, HAT, and a bit more, BUT, all speakers good or bad, sound`s better with a good instalation.. cheers!

No it doesnt. It does not read any of the functions the normal HU does. However you can buy a metra kit(what you usually buy with a single din HU to read factory parameters) and wire it in your center console or glove box so you can read them.
i heard the nav is bad with streets. Can get you lost a lot. is this true?

I never had the problems you are describing. The nav is faster since its using a HDD and ive never had problems with the streets. You can upgrade the Z2 so that it has the Z3 features. The ipod usage is not instantaneous but i wouldnt say its slow by any means. Thats my experience

Wow i definitely commented with a link to the part you needed. Well anyway the part i used is CD-IB100II and you can find them for about 50 dollars. There is another cable which is less expensive but if you have a AVIC-Z1/2/3 you need the one i just talked about.

I never really cared about that beacause i always knoe when i need an oil change and the rest of the settings i didnt care for. But you can get a doucble din unit and retain those functions by wiring the metra unit in your glove box or in the compartment.
Bluetooth works great. Sync really quick. I havent had any problems. It does not pull the contacts of the SIM though. I've heard that is the case with other phones too but i programed the people i call the most in there so i cant use the voice recognition thing.
I have this unit also. Quick question, for the rear view mode(backup camera), was there anything special you had to do? or was it just a ground, power, and reverse tail light wires that you had to connect? I thought the rear camera only works when you're in reverse gear or am I wrong? Thanks

yes it will most definitly fit in your 07' it will void only the warrenty that covers the radio and possibly speakers, but will not affect any other aspects of the warrenty such as powertrain. and yes its easy. ive taken it out and in so many times adding other stuff to the back like the other harness and stuff that i can pull apart the dash and install and reinstall in about 10 minutes.
mines a 06' GTP and it cost about 1500, at the time they retailed for 2200 for just the headunit. i got the headunit, bluetooth adapter, rear view camera and ipod adapter for 1500 in a package deal pioneer had.

I noticed in the beginning that you pushed a button and the motorized unit went into a face down position (To put CD's and DVD's in obviously) I was wondering if it flipped all the way over and in so that you are looking at the back of the unit (as a security feature) If it does thats awesome! The dealer has to prove the modification you made is the cause of a problem for it to void that individual warrenty. Theres power train warrenty electrical bumper to bumper Etc.
it just has an exernal one. think about it like this. when your talking the sound is projected forward,having it external lets you place it up by the headliner in front so that its most acurate and no distortion when your talking. if it was in the unit itself you'd most likey be looking at the unit insted of the road to ensure it picks the command up correctly. the mic it self isnt that bulky the mount that holds it there is a little bigger but not that noticable if your not looking for it.
i didnt op to get onstar with my g6. so i wouldnt know if it did. sry! if you go on g6 performance dot com you may find a member that has onstar and a aftermarket headunit. but im not sure if it would afect it.

i just had someone else tell me about the same problem. theres no reason why it shouldnt work. i know plenty of g6ers that have installed aftermarket radios besides me. the guy that messaged me said the ppl told him it wouldnt work. they may say that cuz you would be losing your DIC(Driver information center) but i never used mine. you could have it wired up somehwere else. but you'd have to buy a metra kit. its really not worth it do that anywayIMO.
and ot add if you neede to find another place to install if for you. i would reccomend going to circuit city. they tend to have better trained associates compared to bestbuy and most other stores. and they have a bigger car audio section too.

i sent numerous meesages to a seller on ebay and he confirmed it with me that indeed the bypass works. which what you do is disconnect two wires and then load the new firm wire disc and it works. so its sounds pretty clear cut. ill do the bypass a little down the line.
thanks, the device up on the ceiling is the mic for handsfree calling via bluetooth with your phone. and the square looking thing at the very end of the video is where the GPS gets it's connction.

Wow i definitely commented with a link to the part you needed. Well anyway the part i used is CD-IB100II and you can find them for about 50 dollars. There is another cable which is less expensive but if you have a AVIC-Z1/2/3 you need the one i just talked about.

I never really cared about that beacause i always knoe when i need an oil change and the rest of the settings i didnt care for. But you can get a doucble din unit and retain those functions by wiring the metra unit in your glove box or in the compartment.

You put it on a CD first then insert it in the unit, then import the songs. I havent done it but thats how you do it.

you need to buy a double din bezel but thats a given with nearly all units. it was a metra brand i believe.

Bluetooth works great. Sync really quick. I havent had any problems. It does not pull the contacts of the SIM though. I've heard that is the case with other phones too but i programed the people i call the most in there so i cant use the voice recognition thing.

I have this unit also. Quick question, for the rear view mode(backup camera), was there anything special you had to do? or was it just a ground, power, and reverse tail light wires that you had to connect? I thought the rear camera only works when you're in reverse gear or am I wrong? Thanks

yes it will most definitly fit in your 07' it will void only the warrenty that covers the radio and possibly speakers, but will not affect any other aspects of the warrenty such as powertrain. and yes its easy. ive taken it out and in so many times adding other stuff to the back like the other harness and stuff that i can pull apart the dash and install and reinstall in about 10 minutes.

mines a 06' GTP and it cost about 1500, at the time they retailed for 2200 for just the headunit. i got the headunit, bluetooth adapter, rear view camera and ipod adapter for 1500 in a package deal pioneer had.

Hey great vid! I noticed in the beginning that you pushed a button and the motorized unit went into a face down position (To put CD's and DVD's in obviously) I was wondering if it flipped all the way over and in so that you are looking at the back of the unit (as a security feature) If it does thats awesome! If it doesn't well I wish it would. BTW RE is awesome!

The dealer has to prove the modification you made is the cause of a problem for it to void that individual warrenty. Theres power train warrenty electrical bumper to bumper Etc.

it just has an exernal one. think about it like this. when your talking the sound is projected forward,having it external lets you place it up by the headliner in front so that its most acurate and no distortion when your talking. if it was in the unit itself you'd most likey be looking at the unit insted of the road to ensure it picks the command up correctly. the mic it self isnt that bulky the mount that holds it there is a little bigger but not that noticable if your not looking for it.

i didnt op to get onstar with my g6. so i wouldnt know if it did. sry! if you go on g6 performance dot com you may find a member that has onstar and a aftermarket headunit. but im not sure if it would afect it.

i just had someone else tell me about the same problem. theres no reason why it shouldnt work. i know plenty of g6ers that have installed aftermarket radios besides me. the guy that messaged me said the ppl told him it wouldnt work. they may say that cuz you would be losing your DIC(Driver information center) but i never used mine. you could have it wired up somehwere else. but you'd have to buy a metra kit. its really not worth it do that anywayIMO.

and ot add if you neede to find another place to install if for you. i would reccomend going to circuit city. they tend to have better trained associates compared to bestbuy and most other stores. and they have a bigger car audio section too.

i sent numerous meesages to a seller on ebay and he confirmed it with me that indeed the bypass works. which what you do is disconnect two wires and then load the new firm wire disc and it works. so its sounds pretty clear cut. ill do the bypass a little down the line.

thanks, the device up on the ceiling is the mic for handsfree calling via bluetooth with your phone. and the square looking thing at the very end of the video is where the GPS gets it's connction.
