  • Keith Moon G.O.A.T

  • Is this the historic concert with the highest volume ever? I have read that The Who have the World Guinness Record for that...that´s why Pete suffers tinnitus.

  • @MegaJyms No it was live kilburn 1977 the famous kids all alright concert and probably the most famous concert. but my favorite is 1989 Lakewood amphitheatre GA.

  • @MegaJyms sorry I meant 1971 sorry way off.

  • @8StringBuzzard What a great song!! I could listen to that guitar (you know TAAA TA TAAAAA) the rest of my life and I´d never get bored of it...it´s makes me feel alive instead.

  • @MegaJyms You should really listen to Trick of the light live 1989. you will love that song

  • @8StringBuzzard Oh well that´s another monster song...

  • @MegaJyms No Doubts there

  • @8StringBuzzard What about "Sister Disco"...do you like it?

  • @MegaJyms Yeah any WHO song is my cup of tea :)

but latley ive been big into "The John Entwistle Band"

  • @8StringBuzzard Yes I see by your profile image that you like John...yeah the great "Ox" it´s been almost ten years he passed away but you know this song "My Wife" really kicks arse!!!!!!! best bass player ever.

  • @MegaJyms OH no douts john is the best. And my wife is AWESOME, all his song were great.

My Wife, Quiet One, Trick Of the Light, Heaven and Hell, 905, Whiskey man and all of his solo carrer stuff. John Was an Underrated song writter his lyric were so different than petes but an awesome different.

  • @8StringBuzzard But who sings "The Quiet One"? it sounds very different like I Can See For Miles.

  • @MegaJyms All the songs John Sung are: The quiet one, My wife, Silas stingy, 905, trick of the light, Whiskey man, Had enough, whiskey man, Medac, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, You and Boris the Spider.

and I can see for miles is sung by daltry and Towshend

  • Pure bliss

  • were the synths a tape or was there someone playing them behind the backline?

  • I want to live in the seventies!!!!

  • Most enthusiastic crowd ever

  • That's what I call Talent !

  • Did Keith start at the wrong time?

  • @ACDCBOY98 probably to keep from going deaf due to how mindblowingly loud John and Pete where

  • why dus Keith have headphones for

  • @ACDCBOY98 I am assuming so that he can hear the click track in order to stay in sync with the synthesizer riff......

  • Roger's best vocal performance in my opinion if not Top 3

  • I still remembered when disney ripped this off for an ad for one of their movies. I think it was a bugs life. Pissed me off when it wasn't in the movie.

  • great peformance, shame the drums arnt very prominant in the mix.

  • song of my live

Thank you "The Wo" for this nice song!!!

  • Best band EVER.

  • I would allow arguments to a better song ever, but there is no better opening riff...fans of Guns 'n' Roses go home, this kicks Sweet Child Of Mine spotty bottom.

  • yo todavia no nací y ya existia este rock and roll!!!!!! lo mejor de todos los tiempos!!

  • I heard this sond in a movie, but I don't remeber which movie it was... Does somebody know any movie which contains this song?

  • @Lily60Potter

Probably a thousand movies? =) Maybe you mean "the girl next door" ? its the ending song...

    Or the television series C.S.I.

  • @MyBottletree yes maybe it was "the girl next door", but you're right, the song is so great that everybody uses it in movies =)

  • @Lily60Potter

I know a Comedy movie from Comedy Central that had this jingle at the beginning in it.

  • After spending hours waiting in line for tickets for their performance at the Lyceum in the Strand and the ticket office closing when I was about number 20 from the ticket office, The Who added Charlton to the tour. This time i got tickets. As smiler2002 says, it was effin hot, and Maggie Bell gave me a headache, but that disappeared when The Who took the stage. Other memorable acts that day included Lou Reed, Humble Pie and Lindisfarne.

  • pete's dancing RULES

  • this is god, once more...

  • All the Charlton footage I have seen on YT has been pretty good. I wonder why it doesn't get an official release?

  • THE WHO/Baba O'Riley もっとクレイジーなピートダンスが見たかったけど...。

  • at 4:51 wat kinda dancin is the guy in white trousers doin irish dancin?? hahaha

  • at 4:51 wat kinda dancin is the guy in white trousers doin irish dancin?? hahaha

  • why dont they play the guitar at 3:52 i love that bit.

  • long live the who!

  • i love Pete's Cherry sunburst Les paul- i had a 1977 Standard same color it never left my home till i stupidly sold it (biggest regret of anythg i ever sold) forgetting that it would be worth about 10 times the price i paid for it, it was a cherry, played beautifully. I don't know what i was thinking when i did sell it only that i was planning on going off to college..which i never ended up going, just did my few yrs locally at the community junior college.aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Why is Pete pissed ?

  • Pete's so pissed he even can't hit the tambourine :D

Amazing performance, but my fav version of this song is the kids are alright version!

  • Only part of the festival was every filmed, mainly the Who.... les mayers

  • I was fortunate enough to be there at the time... great festival and gig by the one and only Who..... les mayers

  • Worst frontman in rock history?

    Sorry..

  • @Amsterdam74yeah You're an ass hole? Sorry..

  • @ryanaceman and what arguments do u have in ur favor, dick?

    I'll show u mine:

    - No lyrics

    - No stage presence

    - No charisma

    - and that "running" routine, he looks like a mime

Roger is the Ringo of The Who

    The End

  • @Amsterdam74yeah How can you compare a singer to a drummer?

Dude, how can he be the worst frontman in rock history if he's in one of the greatest rock bands ever? That's a pretty bold claim

Ringo isn't the worst drummer of all time either so...

  • @ryanaceman I mean they're disposable, interchangeable...sorry, Ringo

One of the greatest bands ever is correct, but no thanks to Roger. Pete acknowledged as much when he said The Who is comprised of 3 geniuses AND Rog.

Even Rog said, after he'd been fired, that he came back promising to behave because he didn't want to work at a fuckin meat plant in Shepherd's Bush all his life.

  • @Amsterdam74yeah His voice is recognizable on some of the greatest rock songs ever (like this one of course, + "Behind Blue Eyes" etc...), so even though Pete and Keith were clearly the leaders of the band The Who wouldn't be the same without Roger

And Pink Floyd was a progressive monster (in a good way) after David replaced Syd, and Mason's percussion on "Time" is awesome!

  • @ryanaceman PS: as far as Ringo not being the worst drummer ever...that's right, the worst ever is nick mason.

    Ringo is cool.

  • @Amsterdam74yeah LOL the beatles are my #1 and floyd's my #2 (the who's a close 3 and queen's an even closer 4) but yeah Nick Mason is far below session-musician caliber

  • charlton= shithole

  • hey is the complete charlton show avaible on DVD? if so, where can I buy it?

  • entwistle using an early Thunderbird IV

  • @bryan7965 I'ts an Fenderbird if I'm not mistaken. A Fender neck on a TB body.

  • Pete cracks me up with his "dance"

  • This song always gives me a shiver down my spine.

    Best song, ever.

  • hot, you can say that again! and what a day ... and what a band

  • On the Thirty years of max R&B DVD, Townshend said he doesn't remember this concert because he was extremely pissed that day.

  • An incredible gig...Lou Reed appeared...hottest day I can remember..

  • gitchigoomi: Tough but true. Moon had lost it as a band member, even if his individual drumming skills were awesome.

But hey, sometimes imperfections in a musician, footballer etc. makes them what they are and adds to the brilliance group. With Moon and The Who this was the case.

  • @gitchigoomi

How often did Townshend ever say anything good about Moon, later or earlier?

  • @MrGb1965 Point taken. He actually started speaking quite kindly of Moon after his death, perhaps out of a sense of guilt. I read an interview one time in which he said "The Who must be considered a failure because our youngest member died in front of us and we didn't save him." They are my favorite band of all time, and my criticism of Moon does not diminish this nor my seemingly contradictory proclamation that he was one of the greatest rock drummers who ever lived.
