@ichbinstark LOL, funny comment. When a person sits, their 'derriere' is usually on a surface, however, greyhounds are unable to sit this way, the 'normal' way. Here bums don't touch the ground.

my daughter and i have rescued 9 greyhounds over the years. they are the silliest dogs ever. highly developed sense of humor. i don't have one now and i've decided to foster senior greyts for a few years. the older dogs have a hard time finding a home. greyhounds are the prettiest dogs in the world. very lean lines and beautiful curves.

I have a greyhound too! Much like yours, I've taught mine to sit and then shake my hand before eating. But he won't actually eat until i say 'go'. I will take a video of him this weekend =)

You got a Greyhound to sit! Many people can't teach their Greyhound to do it, because the dog isn't built for sitting and finds it uncomfortable.

@Religion0 My family and I have had five greys now. Every one of them we have taught to sit. You just have to have patients and teach them what you want to do. A treat after they have done it helps too LOL The one female we have now sits before I even ask her to do it when I come home from work and give them a treat too lol

Moltes gràcies. Aquest llebrer es diu Pep, el vaig adoptar gràcies a la gent de sosgalgos, ja fa uns anys. Ara té uns 8 anys i de moment està en plena forma. És el gos més simpàtic, pacient, amic de tothom, intel·ligent i ràpid, que mai no he conegut. L'estimem moltíssim i ell també ens estima. És la millor decisió que mai no hem pres. Una abraçada !!!

Beautiful. That was sweet. But some people train their dogs to do so much that the poor thing gets no rest. It's do this, do that, do this, do that for the YouTube video show. I think her poor dog was also confused because she was giving him so many commands so quickly.

Your dog is awesome and he looks well taking care of.

In our case, we don't force him to do anything. For him it's just a game. In fact it's really important to keep on teaching them new things, because the brain has to be exercised, exactly the same as the rest of the body.

And always with treats when they do it right, and never by hitting them in any situation. Never never never.

Thanks for showing me. My two greys both do these tricks. Sit, Stay, see a treat and leave until take it command, place, and they will balance a treat on their nose and snap it into their mouthes on command. Sweet. Oh and roo on command!

Your dog is stunning! I have seen pictures of Galgos but never a video. I have Italian Greyhounds (six) and am involved in IG Rescue. I am a great lover of sighthounds. There is such a gentleness and intelligence that your dog exhibits! I can also see how gentle and respectful you are in training. I hope to see more of your videos!

What a sweet pup!

Yes, greys are VERY smart. My 11-yr old ex-racer has learned "Sit", "Shake", "Lie Down", "Pillow" (go to pillow and lie down), "Take a Bow", and "Speak". He's not always good about "Stay" - he'll move after about 20 seconds, or the sound of anything in the kitchen, whichever comes first.

He will also come when called or whistled for; he has two melodic motifs he KNOWS are his.

Your dog seems like a huge sweetie! He shows his personality right on in your video...you  can see(he seems a bit on the quiet side..and or shy...) but, he also is eager to please and is a quiet, content dog! You are certainly blessed!!!

Yes, you are right. He is a "galgo".

This dogs are really different from the other ones:

you don't smell them in the house

you never hear them barking

they are very calm if they are inside the house

they are nice with everyone

and they run as crazy if they are outside and they watch something that reminds them of a rabbit.

Anyone who has ever tried to teach a greyhound basic commands (let alone tricks) should really appreciate this! It took me ages just to teach my greyhound "sit," "down," and "crawl," and even those he'd forget, sometimes. Great video!

JoshTheBattousai please do some reading/inquiring about the laser use with your dog. Most good trainers will discourage you from using it. While it might appear funny it can be very frustrating for the dog to go after something he/she can never catch. I am not being critical of you, just offering some new information. I used a little laser light with my cats until I was provided information regarding the negativity of its use.
