Its haunting how this album, especially this song hints alot to death and suicide and thats what most people think he did seen as he was full dressed in the river when they found him, its like this album was his cry for help, rest in peace Jeff <3
Just how does anyone get to be so good, so young. This song sounds like a lifetime of experience. The only other artist I get this feeling from is Nick Drake, although they are completely different in the musical spectrum, they share a certain honest and personal connection to the listener that defies any musical boundaries and makes you feel that the songs are actually about your own life.
@theporca he was older then he looked, and had a very good musical education, as well as being born with the same gift as his Dad Tim Buckley. he wanted to play guitar and not sing, then gave it up to act, but songs started coming to him in his late 20's early 30's. Also his Mum was a professional piano player. The biggest shame is he would have got so much better!
Nowadays the public sees JB and knows it stands for Justin beiber .. but man, there's not a day that goes by when I think " What if people today saw JB as Jeff Buckley and not Justin Beiber.."
Nessun altro potrà mai essere così ricercato ruvido profondo astratto sensibile arrabbiato e carnale e avere la sua voce e suonare in quel modo la chitarra nella stessa persona
Don't know why I was listening to covers! it's ALL here, each tiny piece that lifts me, such splendour, need no more, how I miss you Jeff!! thank god for youtube!! and thanks for the upload, really!!!
Impeccable. Driving down a long stretch of road when that last verse kicks in, no one around, except you and Jeff, and his magnificent delivery. Oh man. Just how unreal is this song? Man.
If you love this song you should definitely check out his criminally overlooked posthumous release Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk. Pure genius and such God-given talent. It is a shame that the world lost him before he really even caught fire. Happy Birthday Jeff! RIP
i hate that i was a little too young to be into jeff's music when he was alive, but i get the feeling that doesn't matter. he even says in this song i am not afraid to go and has been quoted that he doesn't feel the need to be remembered as long as the music is...and jeff brother, it will be...dont you worry
This music video perfectly captures Jeff's persona: mysterious, profound, and thoughtful. I love you, Jeff! Your music has affected me in so many ways.
Am so glad a friend introduced him to me! He is just so gorgeous! (refering to the music mostly) The guitar...The voice and the song writing! Beautiful!!!!
Feel the intensity from every word he spoke.. Just don't see that nowadays.. Wish i could've seen him live. Jeff definately was one of the greatest musicians. :)
@ASingleFeatheR There is So Real "I couldn't awake from nightmare that sucked me in, and pulled me under" Dream Brother "Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over" Grace "it's my time coming (...) we both might go tomorrow (...) My time has come (...) etc." Not from grace: Nightmares by the sea basically whole song Opened Once: third verse. Dammit Jeff...!!!
@hammer2026 please stop writing such comments, because of people like you almost all music videos get littered with such comments and that takes a lot out of the pleasure the videos would usually bring to people, so please stop writing such comments ok?
The first time I heard this I cried, same story as everyone else. I am asking all people who know me to play this song at my funeral when I kill myself. I don't want to kill myself now, but after I've done something to make the world remember me for. Nothing bad; just a song, or some activism. But I want to make an impression.
@rizzaexquizyth I was replying to someone who made mention of the recent inclusion of Jeff Buckley music into the British High School (GCSE) qualification for Music.
