  • Yes. The National Anthem addresses slavery.

    Your point being?

  • Wow I never stand to the red white and blue devil flag

  • knowledge is power, thanks for this info,

  • irrelevant to me cause i dont give a fuck about the flag

national anthem, preamble, constitution or any of the

shit these wicked mothafuckas made up.

    these mothafuckas worship the devil

  • Chinese endured 2000 years of slavery

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs By there own people! Judgement is coming to yooooo!

  • @YahSedQanu oh shut up

  • Dude, seriously. Don't post hate mongering propaganda without looking it up or at least asking someone more educated than yourself first. You've gotta be kidding me. This song is not even remotely about slavery propagated against african-americans!

  • The fifth verse from the time of the Civil War: "When our land is illumined with liberty's smile, If a foe from within strikes a blow at her glory, Down, down with the traitor that tries to defile The flag of the stars, and the page of her story! By the millions unchained, Who their birthright have gained We will keep her bright blazon forever unstained; And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave, While the land of the free is the home of the brave." It's not against African Americans
  • you are an idiot for posting this.

  • boy you are a fucking retard a hireling is a mercenary the slaves they are reffereing to are the poor boys drafted into the english army by force or trickery. something that happened alot.

  • WOW, dude you are not taking it in context. The British hired (hireling) people and slaves to serve in the Army, so pretty much the verse says in a really long way, we killed the traitors.

  • wow...talk about ignorance: That video is rife with it. I am so ungodly sick and tired of negros hanging on to absolutely any reference to the word "slave" in American history. Negros paid their dues to the world, and they endured a period of subjugation under a Master. WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The diction of the narrator was horrible, by the way. He probably shoulda Stayed in "Skoo"

    [typo in first post]

  • @Alaric25 Alaric diction never wins from knowledge. Tards that begin to talk about grammar dont have an argument against the arguments being made and start to discredit the knowledge by looking at the grammar. Its getting old. Please find yourself something useful to do which does not involve internet and a keyboard.

  • @Alaric25 Pointing out historical references to the why the star spangled banner was edited is called knowledge, which is something you obviously lack.Choosing to ignore history is called ignorance. Do you ask European jews to stop mentioning historical references to the holocaust? Everything in that video posted is true with historical documents to back it up. Do you have documented proof to refute the author besides your whining?

  • @Alaric25 Would you shut up! w/ your racist remarks. You don't love the Hebrew's?

Well if you beleive in God then here is a shocker for you... HIS FEET LIKE UNTO FINE BRASS.

  • the slaves that is being referred to isnt talking about african american. In england at the time the anthem was written, when people owed great amounts money they became indentured servant/slaves. Also for a lot of people coming over to the new world, they could not pay the price of the passage to the new world. so they become people servants/slaves for seven years in the new world. If you are talking about american history get right and don't twist it to say something that is not there.

  • @cumbee2006 shut up please shill!

  • @cumbee2006 you wanna tell us we didnt endure slavery in the USofA and all european colonies? Jim Crow never existed, Marten Luther King, Nat Turner, Malcom X werent killed in the struggle for freedom of this burden you europeans put on us?? YOU stop twisting history and cover up the things that were THERE!

  • @YahSedQanu

whoaaa!!! first off what is a "shill"? It probably doesn't a person who is historically correct. Also, where do you get that I don't believe that jim crowe, MLK, and nat turner existed? I do believe that they things existed. And im not a european. I don't find my identity from where my family lived 200 -600 years ago. In fact i don't find my identity in my skin color either. I feel both are insufficient and irrelevant when describing who you are.

  • As far as I know lots of "African American" slaves fought on BOTH sides of the war. This verse is referring to those who fought for the British side.

  • @Diafied I think your thinking of the revolutionary war. The war of 1812 saw a more or less United (across racial, cultural, geographic, and economic lines) States of America facing off against a Great Britain bent on punishing all black, white and red, who dared not heel bow and scrape to the monarch.

  • @Quantumgeometer

Thanks for the reply. I did post a comment referring to the revolutionary war earlier, but even for the war of 1812 the same holds true. Black soldiers fought on both sides.

  • @Quantumgeometer Thanks for the reply. I did post a comment referring to the revolutionary war earlier, but even for the war of 1812 the same holds true. Black soldiers fought on both sides.

  • @Diafied True but... during the revolution most african americans sided with the British. About 20,000 fought for the British in the Revolution and 5000 for the USA. In 1812 it was almost the reverse of that.

The way I look at it not mentioning this part is one way of writing black people out of history either way.

  • did you know there is a FIFTH verse written during the Civil War ?

    No?

    moron

  • if you dont like it go back to where you came from!

  • by slaves he isnt talking about black people you fucking idiot.

  • You are so un educated on this. Key is speaking of the invadors. So broaden your mind and dont put yourself outhere like a fool. Or go see how much better life would be in another country.

  • [sarcasm]I didn't realize that slave = black. [/sarcasm]

  • If you have any understanding of the English language, you should very clearly see that the "hireling and slave" has absolutely nothing to do with African slavery. THINK about the words rather than blindly reacting to just one of them.

Who is this verse is actually about? It's right there, but it takes a little effort to see: "The band who so vauntingly swore that the havoc of war [...] should leave us no more [home and country]." What "band" would that be? The invading British, of course.

  • Now let's look at the line that the author of this video finds offensive: "No refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave." In the context of the previous lines, what does the word "slave" mean? Let's go to the dictionary: "one who is abjectly subservient to a specified person or influence." We've already identified the "specified influence," so "hireling and slave" must refer to those fighting for the British cause.

  • The third verse could certainly be seen as offensive to someone, though... namely, the BRITISH. It was during WWII, when those same British were a key ally that the verse practically disappeared, leaving only the 1st, 2nd, and 4th. However, even these take a little more effort to understand than the average American wants to make. THAT'S why you don't hear them at ballgames. Hell, most don't even realize that the 1st is a QUESTION. Without including at least the 2nd, it doesn't even make sense.

  • So what, Black are no longer slaves.

Thank God your forefathers paid the price for you to be a part of the USA.

Look at Africa, its a shithole, you should thank God your not there.

  • What do you know. Another black playing the race card.

These lines are talking about how the Americans were slaves to the British you fucking idiot.

  • Well Said!!!! I've watched several of these videos and they wreak of bull shit.

  • gtfo

  • The implication of British and/or Irish et. al hostage victims of the european bankers and aristocracy does not exclude the african hostages all considered "slaves" in the 'Star Spangled Banner' either

  • The "hireling and slave" refers to the British Army as being slaves to the crown, not African American slaves. The blood of the British soldiers "their foul footsteps pollution." " No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave." The british will either will retreat or die, because the Star Spangled banner still waves, meaning the US won the battle. You misconstrued the lyrics.

  • i think its fucked that when ppl hear the word slave the automatically think of black ppl

  • Ah umh? Then who are the other slaves in this mysterious history you speak of?

  • im not talking bout other non existant slaves in america, im talking bout in general, when most ppl think slaves they think black ppl

  • Of course America had enslaved Europeans, Native's and the Mexican.s. After the Emancipation of Proclamation they even brought in the Chinese and Filopinos to work but please don't flatter yourself with nonsense on who the slaves they are talking about.

  • Well sure the word slave is derived from Slav. Eastern Europeans were the first people to be termed slaves

  • Damn stupid n1663r5.

  • Of course it is about the British..

God forbid anythin g pro-American be said in relation to this great anthem.

    MrYari--you're right on...

This is some dope who probably never heard of the War of 1812...

Takes a non-citizen to set this joker straight.

  • whell iam not american, but this verse may be about british. it is in context of this poem. "No refuge could save the hireling and slave" [of britain, or of king of britain]

  • So you are saying the American's enslaved the British wow I am American and I didn't know this.

  • youre such a retard.. hes saying the americans were slaves to the crown

  • No shit dickhead so i guess that would make you the retard dumbass.

  • gtfo

  • GTFI

  • The British and American aristocracy held Irishmen hostage as well...they don't care who they oppress. Read Michael Hoffman's "They were white and they were slaves" or perform a search on the net for 'white slavery'.
