  • If you had just listen to the scale she play, you may said,

"OMG OMG WHO IS THE FREAKING VIOLIN PLAYER MY EYES HURT SO MUCH" or "IS THE VIOLIN PLAYER PLAYING THE VIOLIN HUMAN?" or "HEY, ARE YOU A BEGINNER"

    Then sees the youtube description....

"WHAT?!? YOU HAVE BEEN PLAYING VIOLIN FOR AT LEAST 1x YEARS? ARE YOU AN IMPOSTER???"

    LOL that's just my opinion.

  • is there something called violin syncing? like lip-syncing? well, if there is she is doing it xD

  • Violin is hard, i know i play it, but why to make this video if you are doing it wrong?.. and by the way, vibrato in scales are wrong..

  • why is she yelling at me?

  • Tune your fucking violin

  • i am a beginner violinist but I already know how to play 3 octaves and I also know that she played wrong -__-

  • at least she can play her own sad music when she gets dumped for being a fat cunt with an loud ass voice.

  • ure terrible. just awful

  • Her last little shindig she did there was 1 3/8 of a scale. How did she even manage to screw that up?

  • shes traing to do vibrato but she cant :P

  • she says octave wierd

  • wow i was playing this 4 octave on the cello and i said eww, this sounds flat

  • I just started playing and I do not find your videos helpful, your tuning is horrible.

  • hi err you're playing a B, not a C!

  • not only is her violin tuned down a half-note (the C is really a B), but if you notice, her last scale has 11 notes??!?! Bahaha, not 8, 11!! These expert village videos should really be removed lol

  • My two year old kitten just hung itself with its collar. I'm blaming you when I tell the kids.

  • A HALF STEP JESUS! She's bloody horrible. I think a puppy just went off and killed itself after hearing the intonation.

And someone explain to me what that little scale after "Your'e ready to roll!" was?

I'm pretty sure the only thing she got right was the notes of the "ocTAYve"

  • EXCUSE ME< BUT IF YOU DIDNT KNOW, VIOLIN IS ONE OF THE HARDEST INSTRUNMENTS TO PLAY!!! I THINK SHE DID VERY WELL< AND AT LEAST SHE TOOK HER TIME OF DAY TO TRY TO HELP US I HOPE SOME DECENT PERSON AGREES WITH ME- THANK YOU

  • @generalmotorssaturn YEA I AGREE WITH YOU

  • sounds awful:/ i can do better

  • felicidades

  • Also, she played 11 notes in the scale...

  • Yeah, because you have to have three fingers down to make a C. XD. Remember kids, just one OCTAYVE.

  • Sooo I'm a beginning violinist, and I think this is kinda helpful so thanks @expertvillage

  • Hey um i am kinda begginer but i know notes i just dont know the notes where is THE __C__ at

  • Oh, my. Please fix your bow hold and please learn to play in tune. I'm sure you're a lovely person but you're not a violinist.

  • basically do, then on "re" the "D" open string,"me" one finger space from the "D"open string, the finger on "fa" it will beside "me", "sol" will be "A" open string, one finger space from "A" will be "la" and just beside "la" will be "do" again!! the pattern is same thing in the guitar..

  • lol good thing i know music theory-_- and i have an EAR!!!! i use my keyboard to find cdefgab LOL the scaling is similar to the guitar which is my main instrument... know all i need to know is how to use the bow properly-_-

  • @darkj3am

The bow's the hardest part. Good luck!

  • Her voice within 6 seconds makes me want to kill myself....

  • I am a new violinist, your videos are easy to follow. The best I have discovered on youtube. But you seem so rude, condescending even. But it is very sexy. I like it. Thanks for all the free info.

  • "We'll be focusing in on my fingers; to show, EXACTLY what you do, when your playing this scale". Best satire ever, well done, I nearly died laughing.

  • don't learn anything from expert village. none of these people are experts. just village idiots.

  • shut the fuck up!!! stop shouting at viewers!!

  • thanks guys i dont know anythink about violin (i know theory) but if i hadnt read the comments i would thought that this was a good lesson...

  • she teaches c major but plays g major at the end....noob

  • @lildin85 God, well spotted, she starts on open G and finishes 2 on A. That would make it a C scale with 3 additional notes below the key note to begin with! Needless to say to any beginners out there please DON'T copy this, it is not just bad but actually WRONG.

  • is this a joke>?

  • @spdlight7 Sadly it is not. But if you want a laugh take a look at "how to do vibrato correctly" by sicksicksick9. The first hundred or so times I saw it I could not stop laughing. This here just made me really depressed.....

  • @mrwasbesonders i mean, i would have her to pay me to be her student, and would have to be a lot!

  • Is this a joke?

  • I have been teaching violin for 36 years. Violins whould first be tuned with a tuner (Korg, Seiko, etc.) unless the ear is well developed. The first scales to be learned on violin are A Major and D Major, then G Major. Wonderpuppies comment that Bb should be learned first shows a lack of experience in teaching violin, esp to children. Get training in Suzuki violin teaching, or at least get Suzuki Book 1 and Wm Starr's book, the Suzuki Violinist.. It's Very educational. Good Luck!

  • @GrannySkippy i dont teach violin, my band directer'(highschool) sais that the Bb major scale should be lerned first... all my band directers i had told me that.. from 6th-highshchool(1 band).

  • Holy cow, you need to tune.

  • the first scale any instrument should know is the Bb concert scale(starts on different notes for diff. instruments). It is the standered scaled and the tuning note for instruments

  • @wonderpuppieslol No it isn't. You don't know what you are talking about. Maybe you could get a job working for "expert" village. You seem to have the credentials ie knowing jack shit.

  • @wonderpuppieslol is it? i thought its C....

  • @wonderpuppieslol

The tuning note for violin is A.

  • her vibrato sucks and she skipped a note

  • I like OCTAAAAAVES like the the octAves in Paganini Concerto.

  • thank you very much!!!

  • you have to tune first your violin, it sounds awful

  • lot of ass talking crap but they them self's wont lift a hand to help out others ,keep up the good work:)

  • @jewls323 actually, many of us are helping. There are better sources of information available. We're simply pointing out one source that is not advisable.

  • @TonicMike If there is would you like to point out the websites you can help that way.

  • i'm getting a violin next week!

  • I think she's preggerz with an ape inside her lawl :L

  • Oct'aive' when the hell did we start saying that... And the begining of the scale was not valid, neither was the fifth.. Girl needs to get her playin' straight...

  • OOOOMMMMGGG wtf

  • Playing since 1990?? 20 years of playing? HIGHLY DOUBTFUL!!!!!!

  • She sounds so angry...and so out of tune.

  • @TonicMike Word... She sounds so... forceful, and angry... O.o

  • 1:02 wtf????

  • What a noob.

  • @elquepasadeti thats a little too aggressive lol

  • jjajaja bueno la verdad es q mis palabras son algo...agresivas!! pero solo mis palabras ehh!!? también contaba con que ella no se iba a enterar...ni de la mitad! ; )

  • simply she is crazy...jajjaja the worst player i have seen

  • jajjaa simply she is crazy

  • congrats on a B major scale on a slightly flat but otherwise fairly in-tune violin!

  • B D D# E F# A A# B????

  • im sorry but please tune your violin

  • can i ask something???

can you learn how to play a violin without even knowing how to read notes???

    LOLz

  • wtf lady...

    1. You're out of tune

    2. A# is not in the C major scale

    3. All major scales have 8 notes per octave. At 1:02 you played 13 notes. So I guess you started on G, which is gonna confuse some people.

  • Out of tune, bad sound production, bad coordination, bad posture. How do they make these videos without laughing?

  • @osiris9510 . yeah it took me 3 seconds to hear she was out of tune so i held a tuner up and shes about a half step flat. could be audio quality........i hope

  • My sister got a violin for her birthday

  • Comment removed

  • I would say this indeed is C major scale. She starts with third finger on G (and says so) - that indeed makes the C, D is open, E is next big skip, F a small one (her finger close next to E), etc. I started precticing D major scale because it is easier (you stay confined to D and A strings).

  • But if her violin is out of tune almost flat by a half step, it would be a B major scale, by sound.

But you're right the fingering IS C major..

  • @xToatsies I hope no beginners are trying to play along with this video. ALL of the notes are way flat.

When she says she's going to play a "C", my tuner hears it as a "B". Open "D" is 80 cents flat. Any lower & my tuner would read a very sharp C#.

I think her tuner was adjusted for 429Hz instead of 440. Korgs can do that and she uses a Korg. Her "D" string DOES read as a "D" note if I set my Korg to 429.

It's a matter of pushing the calibration button and not noticing :(

  • hehe she really bad

  • way to pronounce octave incorrectly thus entirely discrediting everything you say after

  • Oh that was a C scale all right, with three extra notes thrown in at the beginning. G, A, and B.

Someone help me out here, is this the way violinists play their scales? Throw in a few extra for good measure? I mean, I know G, A, and B are all part of the C natural scale, but generally, isn't it played from C to C?

  • This doesn't sound anything like a C major scale.

You've toured the United States and Canada? for what?

    that surprises me...

  • To give the young'uns a self-confidence boost. :P

Hearing this lady certainly boosted mine!

  • This sounds more like a B Major Scale.

  • omg - check your intonation - those notes are not natural!!! for shure!

  • innnnnntonnnnnnnation.......

  • Hahaha -- she doesn't even know how to pronounce "octave". And I would cringe to hear her play any octAves. It makes me really really mad that she might be out there taking money from unsuspecting students. I teach violin & viola, hold a masters degree from Juilliard, and freelance in my area, and I worry sometimes that I might say the wrong thing to a student and confuse them. But teachers like this have NO SHAME. It is simply criminal. I feel my blood pressure rising...

  • I totally agree. how sad. I'm a current student of violin at Juilliard, and viola at Manhattan School, yikes. My teacher would be so sad...and angry. I should show him in lesson....

she would have trouble with the octAves in my concerto for sure :D

all the best to you..congrats btw

  • octAVE

  • Somebody please go buy her some fingerboard stickers.

  • brilliant.

  • Forget about the gurus who posted some bullshit comments here. Most of their advices are not for improve you, but for pull you down. Thanks for sharing what you know and I learn something from it. Good luck.

  • okay honey...first of all tune ur violin to "A" (not A flat.....) second ur an idiot I feel bad for your students...

  • Fine tuners are their for a reason

  • You turds are just mean. If you are better, then post a vid of your own. In the meantime, learn some etiquette...don't bother replying with a hate mail or reply to this...save those strokes for yourself.

  • I learned this cuz i forgot this Now i can get ready for my audition for select orchestra!!Forget the haters there just a bunch of lonely dumbasses

  • what........the fuck.

i think you might need to achieve the "perfect A" before you attempt to play a scale.

  • Wow you really shouldn't post these "lesson" videos because it is obvious you really need to take some lessons yourself O_O

  • Would have been nice if your violin had been tuned to 440. Your final scale didn't sound like C scales I've before. Hmm...

  • aw... yal so mean... she tryn, at least us begginers will know, becuz of her, what not to sound like. great job lady!

  • i play better than her and im a beginner lol

  • "oc-tave" ...its "oc-tive"

  • Does anyone else get the impression she is shouting at us? lol especially when the video starts. Oh, and no way is she qualified to teach violin! It's very poorly executed!

  • Goodness knows why this person believes she is an expert. Please ignore this nonsense and go to the professorV channel where the wonderful Professor Todd Ehle has posted a comprehensive and authoritative set of violin videos.

  • Oh my god.. this is just cruel to us and yourself.

I hope you do something else with your life that you are better at than playing the violin. Too many people suffer later on from having had bad violin lessons in the beginning. Don't do this to them and pass on your horrendous technique and zero musicality.

  • omg the teacher who taught u how to play a violin must be as retarded as you

  • that's not how you saw octave...

  • that sounded HORRIBLE like my out of tune violen i just got for free -.-"

gota put some new strings on it =]

  • Comment removed

  • this sounds like the B major scale to me.

  • every major sounds the same duh it sounds like b major ......

  • No, the first note she is playing is a B so she's actually playing the B major scale, but yes, you're right that they all sound the same so in a way it sounds like C major too but it is really B major. The way here violin is tuned is either a half step flat or she's fingering it a half step flat i'm not sure but i am sure that it's B major and not C major scale.

  • as in the 1st time she play is 3rd fingering but when she say it will be ready to row then she play G to C which is so weird

  • her violin is very flat. and a B scale sounds different that a C scale, they have different notes.

  • i know the notes are different but all major scale sounds the same.

  • quality is good but not the teaching i can't see the fingering very well .

  • me too.

  • I do agree.

Not well played, but at the least,

she has got a great heart to contribute and confidant effort to share to U all !

What have U to offer than complain?

    U remain NOTHING tht way!

Pathetiquely tryin to hurt people's feeling unwisely.

    Have some heart girls!

  • I love quarter tone scales.

  • this doesn't help at all. all these videos suck

  • i strongly agree she taught the wrong thing she's a bitch

  • Look at her pathetic attempts at vibrato.

  • LOL xD

  • How about putting a capo on the neck so that you can be in tune!

  • YEAH start on that G-string

  • Ive played the violin for at least 8 years

sorry to say this but the person on this video is not fit to be a teacher.

Its obvious that she is very bad at playing the violin.

The bow-technique is bad and your scale is out of tune even as you played the sale slowly.

If you make a video for beginners and play the scale on the violin at least do it right because the beginners who watch this and hear your internation could get a wrong idea of how the scale sounds and learn something wrong.

  • you`re so right!

  • true i'm planning to buy a violin and as i watch all the EXPERT village videos i'm little confuse ..... are those person not educated? or in short all their videos.....SUCKS!!!!

  • your A chord is out of tune!

  • sorry to say but your violin is out of tune or you are playing the scale wrong

  • OMG! TUNE YOUR VIOLIN! Otherwise, good teaching!

  • This is great! Seriously. It's so much fun :D The only problem I see is the position if the camera. I kinda had problems at first xd

  • God bless you!

    And all your admirers too!

  • Most stupid cow thinks she is a teacher?!

...for someone who is even more stupid, or what?

  • ur strings r out of tune..maybe its audio prob..n c major is best done on 2nd position..

    thanks.

  • great teacher ..thanks form italy

  • JAJAJAJA QUE CAGADO

  • I don't know which is more out of tune her fingers or the strings!

    WHAT THE HECK??

  • I think you should still learn lots of things before you provide lessons online. for instance, your bow-hold which is a basic thing is not really good and right so this will make people to learn a wrong way of holding the bow.

  • u suck

out of tune and ur tone......

its like the blind leaning the blind

  • oh my jesus, tune your violin, you visually american lass

  • As an advanced clarinettist who plays in a university orchestra and has never picked up a violin in my life, even I can tell she's way out of tune and playing incorrectly.

  • she is SO out of tune... my ears are now tainted...

  • When playing a C scale, it's a good idea to start on the note C, not C#, and certainly not open G. Having your violin in tune would help too.

  • i didnt learn any western music instrument but i know she was out of tune somewhere.

  • fraggleferret - how did she start on an out of tune G?

  • I agree she should of stop , listen to the recording. and then redo the lessson. My oh my so sour.

  • I like how you guys have nothing better to do than sit online and bitch about the way someone plays the violin. Haha, you guys are hilarious! Assuming most of you play, since you're such experts and all, you make violists look like a bunch of pretentious asses! The least you could do is act, oh, I don't know.... HUMAN.

  • But, is she not acting pretentious by throwing her teaching methods at the world, when she herself can't play at all?

  • TheDevilsTrill, I agree with you.

  • you also have nothing better to do than sit here online and spamming on other people's remark

  • Your violin is out of tune and you need to start on a "C" if it's a C Major Scale.....You should also work on your intonation.

  • one octAAve?! riiiggghht.

tip one- learn how to tune violin. (failed)

tip two- if you want to teach violin.... maybe you should uhm... kinda know how to play it first.

tip three- anyone who wants to learn violin really shouldnt be online trying to figure it out, find a PROFESSIONAL VIOLINIST somewhere near your home. And get a good start. Hopefully they can at least tune their violin and play a C major scale in tune. Not to mention correct position and bow hold.

  • Her vibrato is to die for! I love her correct bow hold and how she never produces a scratch. Even better is how her left-hand pinky never curls up from uncontrolled tension and how her fingers always stay curved, right above the fingerboard. Watch out Hilary Hahn!

  • her violin sounds out of tune

  • Never heard anyone play so badly. Ever. Do us a service and never touch a violin again. You can't play. You are about as out of tune as it is possible to get. And you just started a C scale on an out-of-tune G. You should burn your violin and these videos.

  • You're a half step flat on all the notes.

  • if you onlty played as much as you eat youd be great but yah you gotta tune ur violin girl =s

  • Sorry but you play so out of tune, and so bad.. please put your videos in the Trash!!!

You wonly confuse little Kids, with your amateur Violin playng.

  • sorry computer..and yeah no...its 3 on G then D string 1...2...3..and so on..you got it wrong...

  • C major? No! WRONG!....C major is...3 fingures on
