You're right. Maybe on this excersize they didn't do that for one reason or another. Many times they won't even set the guys down if the LZ is gettin shot up. Either that or the crew chief can be firing the minigun that some of them have.
Well i think its a sign that somethings really extremely gone wrong if something soooooo safe is destroyed you wouldn't feel safe (like if a major city was nuked you'd feel scared cause it happened and it could happen again)

Are you sure? I'm know military buff but the description of the video is 1ID that's 1st Infantry Division (that's army) and the UH-60 is used by the Army the USMC use UH-1Y. And all the ranks are Army one guy was a SFC; USMC equivalent would be Gunny Sergeant. Someone tell me if I"m wrong.

Hawk Crewchief/TI for 20 years. I've seen even the best be slow..something about the noise and rotor makes people get stupid..and the seatbelts and the easiest to connect in the world...I've seen 'em exit and head toward the tail rotor (high enough though wouldn't smack em usually :) Retired now, I do miss it at times..wish we had vid cams back in the day..flew some scary crap, back when our goggles were old infantry goggles we lifted up/velcroed on with a weight in the back..heavy ass helmet.
Very nice,but when boarding the blackhawk, they needed to by a little faster though. Here in the 101st (based at Fort Campbell) we can have a team of 8-15 people (depending on equipment and that kinda thing)on in about 5-10 seconds.
Yeah, but from the expression of the soldiers, and the line that it's training I get the feeling it was one of their first times so time probably wasn't a concern at that point. Just getting the guys used to riding in one and the feel before they started drills.

Tell me about it... as soon as the rotors start turning they get all excited. I flew a group of them on a training mission in Hohenfels, Germany and they jettisoned my windows during the assault landing! Pissed me off because I had to climb out in the dark on the ground under NVG's to find them or I would have had a cold flight home.
Cant use 40 thou on the windows, they wont jettison in an emergency. When I did static displays at Air Shows I would put 40 thou on the window jettison handles and the cockpit door handles though and then put the break away back on before we took off to go back home.
That was my unit I believe. B Co 2-1 Avn based out of Katterbach, Germany. I did not fly this training mission but I did plenty with you guys. That pad looks like the pad in Vilseck, Germany.
I usually prefer European equipment to American, but you can't deny the awesomeness of the Blackhawk. Definately one of the things that makes the U.S. army so effective
BlackHawks are ultra cool...... U lucky American gits are so lucky to have them as ur main chopper....A worthy replacement for the Classic Huey..... I'm so jealous!!!

Looking for a Blackhawk Crew Chief or Pilot
Just dropped my 18 yr. old son off @ Ft Eustis for AIT - 15T
He's in for 6-yrs. as a reservist. After AIT he goes back to TX & into ROTC with his reserve unit @ Texas Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth.
Wants to end up flying Blackhawks. What are your thoughts on the track he is on? Would there be a preference as far as him trying:
-For OCS after ROTC & college
-Working to become a Crew Chief and then submit a WO packet
-To submit for WOFT after college?

yes, they were USMC Troops. you can tell because of the Uniform and they have guns.(you can see them if you look carefully)
