Rock Climbing Walls & Rappelling : How to Rappel on a Fixed Rope

i dont know where to get "trained" to do this. it seems like alot of people know how to do it and it is a sport that average people cant really get into. i'm going to but the equipment and figure it out on my own....

I'm just starting climb training, but I noticed that it could be possible to use a rope simply looped through the carabiner loop in the harness with fishermans knots (or other knot that can slide) on either side then slide these down with your hands to control descent. Just curious, how far off or how close am I? (and for right now I'm not concerned about safety, just the feasability of this setup)

hey, he got some stuff that i know, and i'm prety decent at climbing/ rappelling. GO ATC GUIDE. he has to say that he has to get instruction. You cant learn how to rappel from online videos. Its like trying to learn how to drive online. you cant do it, but you can show some tips. Dont cry because he's stressing proper instruction. He's trying not to kill some one. maybe you should do the same...
