  • perfect awesome harmony

  • Harrison groooooves this song so fucking hard!

  • Sound of Muzak can make you higher than pot !!

  • First time watching porcupine tree live today...got dem chills bad

  • This guy was born to be a drummer. just.

  • can't help listening to this song everytime I can, this means always. Great music, incredible musicians, and I'm sure that every young drummer has a Gavin Harrison poster in his room. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love Porcupine Tree!!! And Prog in general. Check out Lazuli from France and Riverside from Poland. They're having the same relaxing, feel-good-effect on me as Porcupine Tree...

  • He sings irish in the last chorus :-)

  • @ktuli93 uhm... where? o . O

  • Super morceau et le plus fabuleux des batteurs !

  • I'd like to see a drum battle between buddy rich and gavin harrison, if that was promised in heaven that would convert a lot of drummers

  • that is sooo epic

  • Ok. This has officially become my favorite song!

  • Well shit. Having heard In Absentia a few times I decided to see how they were live. I was impressed, and I had high expectations going in.

  • @Kueller917J I got the same experience ! Brilliant tuned instruments , not a soundcrunch like I heard at the concerts by other famous bands ! Fantastic performence !

  • it's so f...ing amazing!

  • it's so fucking amazing!

  • it's so fuvking amazing!

  • porcupine tree is the best band on planet earth!

  • Gavin? I love you're Style :D

  • Gavin Harrison est un percussionniste inspiré, Porcupine Tree le vaut bien !!!

  • This guys are right. One of the wonders of the world is going down and no one cares enough. Real music is dying.

  • god damn, i'd imagine their bassist is like the chillest guy in the whole fucking world!

  • Even better live!

  • This song is really absorbing, and I love the bass line: it's so warm. Great tune.

  • Ahhh.... Gavin as awesome as You're but at these show; your Snare sounds terrible.

  • This band is awesome!

Surely the best you can hear in these last "poor" years, musically speakin'!

  • is it just me that thinks this sounds a very little bit like pendragon? but i love pendragon and porcupine tree so im happy either way :L

  • Oh God i've really had an eargasm in 3:42 i just stopped breathing

  • The godfathers!!!!

  • one of the wonders of the world is going down.

Too bad you did not ask me for help

Go home and cry about it,.

  • Sirius Black on Rhythm Guitar.

  • @tucsaddicted

and Harrys father in vocals...before having a family...

  • @MrGeobook87 AND HERMIONIE ON DRUMS!! LOLOHLOLOH

  • @hashkat seriously though, i love this fucking song

  • What a great drum part, the bass drum lags on then ahead then back.. love playing it or as close as I can. ha ha.

  • One of the best PT songs ever! This song really rings out to me with all the trashy dance type mainstream music taking over.

  • I like the part where he sings bout songs filling people with rage but are made my millionaires twice your age. So true.

  • Wow a band with a clue!!!!!!! too few and far between!!!! XLNT!!!

  • The only thing that pisses me off is that it took me so long to discover PT. I've been running with the wrong crowd.

  • How do I not own this DVD...

  • there ain't one fuckin wrong tone .. awsome !

  • Who's a happy bassist? coochy coo!! Man I love this band!!!

  • @fastatlearninstuff That'd be Colin Edwin, the happiest, hippest guy in prog rock.

  • @dmmckenn He epitomizes being an Aussie while playing that bass :)

  • @dmmckenn That is one Cool mfr aint he?

  • Talking Wall... You really are a fucking killjoy! You got to kill the mood this song brings with some asinine zinger about a drummer from 40 years ago! Go find your 70s drummer's stick and shove it up your ass!!!

  • In the 70's my only means of discovering music would've been through the mainstream. Radio and such. I wouldn't have Spotify or Youtube or a community of like-minded people giving me tips. Also "It's going down" implies that the shit ratio of "commercial" music is going up but I'm not so sure about that. Maybe we just forget all the shit music from previous decades and remember the classics? Like I said, it's a great time to love music.

  • This song is mixed for me. I love it musically, but don't quite agree with the message. Sure, mainstream commercial music is often crap, but its influence on what people listen has never been smaller, thanks to the internet. It helped me discover so much good modern music like PT, Demians, Opeth, Riverside, Pineapple Thief, Regina Spektor etc. There has never been a better time to be a music lover. And hell even through mainstream music I discover some gems, like Muse, Mumford & Sons, Adele.

  • "One of the wonders of the world is going down, is going down and no one cares enough".... An inconvenient truth

  • It really pisses me off when people compare music to what has gone before (Mr talkingwall) just enjoy or not and if not, sod off to back to 1970. This is a great song about the failings of the modern music scene and portrays its failings with a performance of (imo) where it could/should be.

  • He's very good... but he's no Jack DeJohnette or Tony Williams. Not even close. Find "Call it Anything" Miles Davis and Isle of Wight 1970 and listen to what Jack DeJohnette does with a 5 piece kit, a ride, high hat and crash. It sounds like he has a kit the size of Harrison's here.

  • @talkingwall since when does the size of the drumkit have ANYTHING to do with the skills of a drummer?

  • @talkingwall dejohnette is my FAV drummer around...and i've seen him play live on a kit BIGGER than this, and he's masterful...and harrison's playing here and on all of PT's stuff is masterful as well...dejohnette and williams were groundbreakers in the world of drumming, and harrison is breaking ground as well in this era...enjoy the mastery of it ALL! :)

  • @talkingwall do you see this fuck that I give? i didn't think so.

  • @talkingwall Gavin Harrison's mastery of odd sime signatures is without peer. Sure DeJohnette or Williams are to be looked up to but try sticking your head out from under the 70's blanket, there's a good lad. Gavin Harrison uses multiple smaller size toms to achieve an interesting tonal range, not because he needs to blitz down them every four seconds.

  • @talkingwall in one thing you´re damn right... he is not Tony Williams or Jack D he is Gavin Harrison and is not even close hahahahaha

  • @talkingwall No, he's not Jack or Tony. He created a path for himself, and is much more versatile and has a deeper pocket than those two. Idk if you just didnt listen to much GH or can't comprehend how awesome he is.

  • @uruzumi Man... don't dog on Tony's pocket...

  • assholes the 3 dislikes! They dislike gods! no wait they are better than gods!

  • Gavin Harrison will make you feel that you suck even in finger drumming over your desk

  • the intro kinda reminds of ritual by meshuggah :) EPIC

  • Amazing band, amazing song, amazing performance ! ! !

  • my drum teather gave be this song as a lesson and now i'm hooked to this band

  • @Micr0cut

Same but for me its bass....

  • gavin harrison can you teach me how to play this song pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease? :>

  • the bassist is always high! XD... jejejeje

  • what an amazing life performance, most bands never do the recorded version of a song justice. steve wilson can fucking shred on that guitar. i cant believe theres no decent clip of blackest eyes on youtube, somebody post one please!

  • Great footage. For those who were in absentia.

  • Gavin Harrison is the best drummer.

  • @PotatoDealer Definitely in the top 5 :D the man is literally a genius at his craft.

  • so excellent ! :)

  • Solid full ironic song.

  • Thanks for the post man! Im diggin it!!

  • Thanks a lot

  • I usually never ever reply on youtube videos, but FUCK MY LIFE that was one of the best 5:17 minute time of my small little life! Purcupine tree is growing in me

  • 7/4 time turns me on.

  • @kwolf68 how can you tell the exact timing between different polyrythms?

  • John Wesley needs to permanently join this band!

  • Gavin Harrison's Modern Drummer performance of this song brought me here.

  • At September 15 we will have general election in Denmark. Still I cannot think of anyone to vote for - other than PT!!!

  • Colin Edwin.... he really is a smiling musician...he loves the music...every bit of it...that's what it is all about actually , feeling the bliss ...

  • I don't know why, but I really like this part 0:00 - 5:17

  • This is real music.

  • GOD do i love this band.

  • Such a complex and rich rhythm.

  • After hearing the chord and rhytmic, I knew it was going to be an awesome solo. But not THAT awesome ! I take my hat off for Steven Wilson, who is able to pull of such a performance of singing aswell as accomplished guitar playing.

  • WHY don't they just hire this John Wesley guy on extra guitar and backing vocals? he's amazing!

  • JUST THE BEST!

  • One of the best songs EVER! I'm introducing this song to the mainstream audiences with my music career and give these guys the recognition they deserve!

  • 3 peoples are dumb enough to not hear the The Sound Of Muzak

  • who the heck are the 3 dislikes? crazy ass ppl!

  • that fucking chorus... i want to cry tears of joy

  • 7/8!? Who knew!

  • @InsomniumX No, it's 7/4 !

  • @TimNZ09 except the chorus, it's in 4/4, gotta give a little pop music appeal to it lol

  • marvellous drumming.

just wonder how it might have turned with another drummer..

it was a good choice w gavin harrison in P.T

no offence to the former one though!

  • @bixxxle I don't blame him he gets to do the coolest job on earth :)

  • The lyrics are so fuckin electric. Like every other PT song. Meaningful shit. Love'em.

    Cheers from India.

  • 1:21 tssss tssss tumtumtumtumtum pakkk splashhhh

  • This band is like wine...it just gets better every time you hear their stuff. Most music gets old after a lot of listens. Not these guys...I love the 7/4 time siggy in the verses and how it transitions to a standard 4/4 time...just incredible music.

  • @kwolf68 I'm glad someone else has paid attention to PT's incredible use of time-signature changes!

What amazes me is how seamlessly they transit from 4/4 to 6/8 to 7/4 to 5/4 in their songs. I had to count out Strip The Soul about 3 times before I figured out exactly what and where all the time sigs. were!

  • they should integrate an i-love-button for this video..

  • Steven Wilson is a genius!

  • God! I love that solo!!!!

  • Porcupine Tree and Tool are the best bands of nowadays...you can't get better than this...

  • PT and Lasse Hoile, that's absolute magic!!! I am totally faszinated. Hammer, hammer, hammer

  • This is insane how they're good live!! I really hope they'll come by Vancouver one day...

  • I hope Steven Wilson is bisexual, because then I won't feel guilty for my huge crush on him. -.-

  • Not my favourite PT song but def my fave wilson solo - the phrasing and feel on that solo is awesome.

  • Everything is of course, excelent but the drumming is awesome!!! so solid and full of life!, love it!

  • Stuff + Porcupine Tree = Heaven

  • Best band ever. Do I need to say more?

  • To all the comments about grooving an odd time, check out anything that Dennis Chambers has played on. In particular, some of the stuff he did with Mike Stern. Truly mind blowing...

  • Sounds good when bass kicks in...

  • @Jonecky if you want better sound quality go see them live

  • soul gets squeezed out.. so true!!

  • great upload, thanks!

  • this sounds like a combination of Justin Bieber and Nickelback.

  • @OD138 Can you do better than them or something ??, Porcupine Tree are one of the best progressive bands out there...get a life!!

  • holy shit, gavin harrison is probably the most versatile drummer on the entire planet,

    love porcupine tree!

  • Is this the best progressive band in the world or what? When they entered the stage @hurricane 2010 the sun came out and Wilson just said: "Looks like the sun's coming out. We usually bring the rain" And they were off. Brilliant. By the way: how do you move your body to a 7/4 beat?

  • @v33sel "By the way: how do you move your body to a 7/4 beat?"

One time sync to the left, the other time sync to the right :p

  • @chrisvandewouw Porcupine tree makes that possible!!!

  • i want to marry him. steve wilson, do you have a wife? if not, here she is! lol!

  • The drums on this songs are fucking brilliant. Harrinson is among the best prog drumers in history, along with Peart and Portnoy.

  • HOLY SHIT!-SHIT!

  • me gustaraia estar bien mariguano! love p.t.

  • i started listening this band like just 2 months ago, what an asshole, they're awesome!!!

  • Perfect !!

  • I fucking love the drums on this song. Great song and great drumming by Gavin

  • It doesn't seem but it is so fucking hard at the drums!

  • One of my favourite songs EVER!!! Love it :)

  • GAVIN...marry me!!!! I'm begging You... xD amazing song, musicians, Band, lyrics.

  • colin edwin looks so happy to be in that band, always smiling and dancing with his bass

  • @bixxxle I would be happy too if I were a member of Porcupine tree

  • @bixxxle playing music like that, how could he not be?

  • @bixxxle He's in Porcupine Tree, why wouldn't he be happy?

  • Thanks for this video!

After Porcupine Tree - comes nothing.

  • God i love this song

  • Steven Wilson is one of the best songwriters out there!

  • @Jonecky

Usually I don't feed trolls, but I'll make an exception for you.

The "HQ" refers to the sound quality, which is way better than the other uploads of this song. Video quality doesn't matter that much when it's a music-video in my opinion. But it shouldn't be too bad though.

    720p and 1080p I don't call "HQ", I call it "HD"...

  • Comment removed

  • @0nl1n3n00b

I'll agree with you partially on that. Sound quality is a lot better than average on youtube. Thank you for that!

From a drummer's point of view, HQ in live videos of Porcupine Tree is also very much of an eyecandy because Gavin's work behind the drums is simply art at it's best. =) (low bitrate on video makes the fast movements on drumsticks a bit blurry)

  • @Jonecky to spare 0nl1n3n00b having to repeat his explanation:

    HQ = high sound quality

HD = High Definition = high video quality

but hell yes, Gavin's the fucking best drummer on this planet!

and I'm doubting myself whether that's an understatement just this very moment you're reading this.

  • @forgeryproof Yeah.. It was a misspelled brainfart. Don't know why my fingers and brains wont work in synchronized harmony. =) (all though they do work that way behind the drums most of the time)

I meant to write "HD in live videos".

And yes forgeryproof, Gavin is the best, but he shares that post with Simon Phillips.

  • @Jonecky

He's ok but Cynic's Sean Reinert > all

  • @0nl1n3n00b Well also the sound quality isn't really "HQ". Even in 480p the sound quality is better. Because its not only the video quality which increases with higher resolution ;)

  • @0nl1n3n00b Any Porcupine Tree video is High Quality!

  • @bca203 They are High Quality in a first place.

  • @Jonecky Your retarded, HQ is sound not pixels

  • @Jonecky its a proshot damnit, not some crappy cell phone video made from the audience. besides: this IS HIGH QUALITY

  • @Jonecky how about you buy the dvd yourself then

  • @aidange2 Allready have. And it's nothing but perfect. =)

  • @Jonecky

    Rinsed.

  • @Jonecky This upload is quite simillar to DVD that was released.

  • @Jonecky haha .. you're such a dick

  • This live version is the greatest I´ve heard. The Gavin´s ghost notes and Steven´s solo sound just great.!

  • This is the 1st video live of this song with good quality what I found in YT. Thanks!

  • @TheDirtyfingers

    You're welcome! :-)

  • @0nl1n3n00b Hey nice quality and sound! thanks for the post! if you listen to these kind of songs alot can you tell me some other songs similar to this one...? i mean after listening to this i crave for more...thanks in advance...:)

  • One of the wonders of the world is going down

    It's going down, I know

It's one of the blunders of the world and no one cares

    No one cares enough

  • Great song. Thanks for the upload
