  • What a beautiful creation!

    Mechadon wasn't bad either xP

  • This is a first, a robot with the weapon to tangle itself up.

  • I understand the arguments about artistic and creative minds behind the robots, including the functionality his talents. I have to ask how impressive does this compare to what east asian nations do for a mere hobby? How does this compare with micromouse international professional leagues of the same generation? fully autonomous, refference watch?v=CLwICJKV4dw

  • The guy who built mechadon and the snake really had no intention of ever winning. The exposure on tv got him all the free advertising he needed to get his robotics business rolling. He's done a lot of projects for hollywood movies since these early days.

  • mechadon has won i think 3 matches, but is still in the robot combat hall of fame for making an impact in robot combat

  • I dont think mecadon was ment for fighting, hes more for show.

  • MY GOD.

I've been looking for Mechadon on Youtube for years! I forgot his name until I saw it on TV Tropes!

    Thank you so much!

  • Hehe,i know the site this comes from.

  • Mechadon vs snake, the war to settle the score!!! SOTL!! (sitting on toilet, laughing)!!

  • Mechadon and Snake where more for show than to fight

  • Mechadon is awesome to look at but that's about it.

  • mechadon vs snake!!!! FTW

  • Mechadon was impressive. It's a shame that, being a heavy walker robot, it was too slow to be any good at battling.

  • Mechadon was beautiful but not fit for combat.

  • ¬¬

  • rammenstien? thats a good band

  • so...no weapons? robot wars was so much cooler :D

  • Mechadon is a cool-looking machine, but walkers are always at a disadvantage in robot battles (just my opinion).

  • @KrautGoesWild SoW owned Biohazard dude.

  • @Magmagan He sure did, but as far as I know, SoW was given wheels latter, too. But SoW knew how to wreck the competition in any way.

  • @KrautGoesWild Just 'cause of the weight, and yeah, he did wreck it ^^

Though he shouldn't, I wanna see a hit on Diesector with SoW

  • fuck........ thats cool

  • Mechadon and Snake were like sacrificial show bots like Granny's Revenge from Robot Wars.

  • 2:47 When I first saw that I was so excited, thought Mechadon was going to make a surprise victory by just picking up his opponent. Unfortunately, that thing is just too hard to control. I remember the controls being manned by six people huddled around a crude control board.

  • I'm pretty sure Setrakian already had a job, like building robot/puppets for movies like Men in Black. I think he was with ILM.

  • @LazurBeemz You are correct.

  • Mechadon uses Roll!

    It isn't very effective...

  • By old vid i mean old season

  • Also, 2:55 you can tell this is an old vid because the pulverizers are just babies. lol

  • Notice how Mechadon and Snake only went against pusher bots. I reckon the producers didn't want robots like minion and Atomic Wedgie to destoy the wonderful creations.

  • Snake and Mechadon were lousy fighters, but look at it this way.

These excellently designed robots were on display on a show that was the biggest thing in its time since sliced bread. I'm sure Mark Setrakian and the rest of Team Sinister got a phone calls from a few companies and directors looking for extra help in the special effects department.

I think Mark was looking to advertise, not fight.

  • Very pretty bots. The pretty boyz of boxing. Amazing designs too

  • Yeah, Mechadon and Snake's designer was more of an artist than a true robot fighter. Both were very beautiful to watch, but were highly ineffective.

  • @jshrubz Dont forget Ronin. it was a good design but it was very unreliable

  • if only nightmare was built like a tank and

then it would be super heavy weight and he could go against mechadon

  • Mark Setrakian

  • if the best engineered award was in battlebots in season 1.0, mechadon would probably win it. was there a best engineered award in season 1.0?

  • Yep, and it won it, along with coolest robot.

  • yeah, and mechadon's successor, snake, also won both awards.

  • Funnily enough, Mechadon still exists, but the builder only uses it as a demo bot.

Kinda makes sense really. It shouldn't be fighting.

  • yeah, that is funny. i wouldn't take apart that mechadon.

  • even thou the spider lost i give it a 8 out of ten in its incredible design !!!!

  • How does mech win? While it looks badass, does it just hope the other bots get's diabled on the hazards?

  • The idea it to use the bladed legs and it's weight to piece the upper armor of a bot.

I think Mech's driver was more into making cool robots than effective ones though. :/

  • If he gets over the enemy the two larger more powerfull center legs are meant to be used like a pincer weapon, never seen him do it in the compitition though.

  • He did build an effective robot though: The Master.

Granted it wasn't as beautiful or intimidating as Mechadon or Snake, but it worked, and worked well.

  • And worked for a LONG time. If I recall right, The Master was one of the classics from when Robot Wars was US based.

Had a great gimmick of interchangeable weaponry.

  • I'd never want to take it into a battle. I wouldn't want to let something so awesome to be destroyed

  • It's a good thing he didn't fight a spinner...it would have chewed them legs up. It's a very neat robot thou...

  • Yea, Snake and Mechadon, are basacly just for show, Snake might have been good if it was more versitile.

  • Dam, i remember Mechadon was my favorite when I was a kid. I was soo hoping that he would have flipped this bitch over. Oh well, that bot is a blast to watch

  • The roll at 0:30 was great! I think I remember reading that Mechadon's win loss record was like 4-2. I know he beat Ginsu once and a robot named Prompt Critical in some form. Dunno who else he beat though.

  • Mechadon was overrated.

  • In what way? as a fighter? i dont think anybody believes that it would do much in its battles. However, as a robot it is bueatiful in its looks and the way it moves. it is one of the coolest looking and well engineered bots out there at the time.

  • Same guy who built snake....this guy's awesome, even if his designs suck from a combat perspective

  • I see some potential in it, but they havent utilized it. It must weigh at lead 450 lbs, so if they sharpened those legs and rolled over it, slice it in half.

  • 480 lbs. Good guess.

  • Wow, Mechadon is awesome. It's just too bad that it doesn't stand a chance in a fight.

Now it gets me wondering, who would win in a fight? Mechadon or Snake?

  • why couldnt they have Snake and Mechadon fight more interesting robots? I mean, wouldnt you just love to see Diesector Vs. Snake? Or Mechadon vs. Toro?

  • i cant imagin mechadon actually beating anybody...

  • He has, and he actually KOed a bot.

  • dam i thouht it was rammstein the band

  • Mechadon may have failed but hes always been #1 to me

  • I know! Mechadon is so beautiful to watch. I miss Mechadon.

  • Mechadon, to be honest, sucks at fighting, but he is a great show robot!

And not in a bad way!

  • lol, what's mechadon's attack supposed to be?

  • Mechadon is scary

  • You are a god for putting this up. I accidentally taped over my copy of this years ago and could never find online ever.

    Thank you VERY MUCH.

  • Lol at the sledgehammer at the end pounding at

    Rammstein.

  • There should be the battle of mechadon vs snake, then it would be fair.

  • Mechadon is a very unique bot,but doesnt look

    all that powerful b/c he's a walk bot.Whoever

he beat mustve been feeling pretty weak after

    that fight.

  • Mechadon is cooler than snake, but snake had weapons so that evens it up

  • Mechadon has like no weapons. I can;t believe he actually won some fights.

  • WTF IT ACTUALLY WON SOME FIGHTS?

  • yeah, he made it to quarter finals.

  • he has those giant blades and all

  • What fights has he won?

  • He beat Prompt Critical in season 1 and Ginsu in the 1999 Las Vegas competition

  • the only reason he beat prompt critical was because he stoped working at the begining of the fight and I don't know about ginsu

  • I remember when he took out ginsu lol, both bots spent most of the fight on their sides lol, mechadon later had to back out of the competition cause they lost a motor in the fight and suffered too much damage.

  • Yeah. I was surprised they let the timer run out on that fight. Ginsu had clearly lost.

  • ginsu did lose, but mechadon suffered too much damage so they backed out in round 2
