@genomenoid Hahaha I completely agree! This was the first night I got it, just a wee equipment test. Please check my newer videos for some MUCH better stuff!
Hey man what is your entire equipment setup? can you email me it im looking to start mixing and sampling and looked at some of your vids like your setup timreese83@gmail.com
thanx 4 the advice sick music by the way i want to get the 909 thanks to the videos you been putting up there all crazy and thats coming from somone who really only listens to rap
@AntifaGuerilla Haha thanks a lot man, glad you've been inspired! I hope you managed to get your hands on some kit so you can start posting your own beats.. :]
im gonna be getting my 1st mpc and im mainly looking to do hip hop beats and house music occasionally and i only have 2 choices and thats between the roland mc 909 or the akai mpc 500, what would everyone reccomend for somone like me starting out
@AntifaGuerilla Hey man...hmmmm well it's a tough call but it really depends what you're after. The 909 has a sampler built in, plus a sequencer and a synthesizer as well, but the sampler is fairly limited compared to the MPC. The MPC doesn't have a synth in it so it depends what you're wanting to do! I would say go for the MPC personally, if you're into hip hop, and get a good sample CD for the house sounds. :]
I love this groove! This has convinced me to toss aside the PC and MIDI controllers and go with a setup like this... really really good! Keep it up! I'm a fan...
Hi, really nice jam. Nice kind of swing throughout.
I haven't sequenced in hardware for years - not since an all CV/Gate studio. I reckon I have pretty much forgotten how much fun it can be. Your jam is pretty inspiring.
Hi there, thanks a lot for the comment! Playing about with hardware is definitely a lot more fun for software - you can't beat a hands on live jam.. :)
Cool, man. Definitely enjoyed it. Having knobs on the kit you're tweaking sure avoids the MIDI bandwidth hassles, too.
I forgot to mention before, that I really like the hats from the 909; really crystal clear and clean, and sit really nicely in the top of the mix. I think these are a lot cleaner sounding than the analogue drum machines I've played with.
I'm replacing my bread and butter hardware with software, and trading up for more exotic hardware.
Hey man, sorry about this! Not sure what has happened here as it says in my e-mail client it's sent?! I'll try and re-send it today, sorry about the delay. :)
Hi there man, sorry about the late reply to this message! It slipped through the net and I only just saw it...you have the chance to buy a Virus? BUY IT! Now. Go on. Do it. I can honestly say it's the best sounding synth I've ever had. Love it love it love it. Check some of my other vids for more videos of it in use, especially the more recent ones where I've worked it out a bit more! :)
Haha thanks a lot man! Glad you like it, it was just supposed to be to test my new setup but if you like it I'll send it to you, no probs! Just private message with your e-mail address man - gmail if possible as hotmail is fussy about attachments. :)
whats the jigga up top thats supplying your beats? i haven't played keyboard for years and years but getting back into it, and learning nightwishes piano solo's... i want to mix them and make them dance anthems ^_^ it looks expensive... lol.
Hey man, that's a Roland MC-909. They used to be pretty steep but they've been discontinued now so you might get a good deal on Ebay! It's a beast of a synth/sampler...let me know if uyou stick some tracks online or something man!
wow shitties, just checked the price... still need another dns3500.. then i'll see how far i'll persue the music scene but it's just a hobbie... that roland is some big dollaz!
Hi there mate, thanks a lot for your comment. Isn't it great having a Virus? What a bit of kit...I love it. It changes your style a lot too when you can spend hours crafting a sound or just making silly noises. The move from Cubase to all hardware is the best I've ever made I think, it's so much fun and you can just knock up a fun track in an hour and play it to eternity! If you're still interested I have made a wee vid of me making a full tune in 10 mins, check out if you can be arsed! :)
Glad to hear about your positive experience. I'm in the same boat. I just picked up an MC-808, MC-505, and an Access Virus A to set up a hardware-based studio. I was using Cubase 4 and all soft-synths. Looking forward to the switch. :)
Could you give us a brief introduction in how you build up your tracks, how you hooked everything up, how you start, etc. Like a short how-to if you will.
Hi there mate, I think what I'll do is upload a video of me making a track on the fly when I get the chance so you can see how I go about it and then start posting your efforts! Glad you like the vids. Take care..
great stuff! ... though i'm about to sell my 909 in favor of a laptop + BCR2000 and BCF2000 MIDI controllers. I really didn't get along with the 909's sequencer... I guess I got too used to Propellerhead's Reason :P
Nice one man, I know what you mean - it is much easier to draw in sequences in Reason or whatever, but I love having everything hardware - looks so much better on stage (if I ever go on stage...)! I've fallen in love with my 909...and my beautiful Virus...mmm....
