Wilco is great. I just saw them live, it was one of the best show's I've seen. They are a great recording and live band! That's hard to find. Most bands are either one or the other.
It's cool to see that there are still songs to be written from these same old basic chords. If you like great song writers, check out Townes Van Zandt.
THere's some Dylan in here, sure, but I think the album is more influenced by the Beatles than Dylan--the lyrics are much more personal and less abstract, and the drums and bass interact in a much more Beatlesque way than a lot of modern music I've heard.
i would say yes. i think dylan is an influence on a lot of wilcos music, but this song i can really hear it. maybe like blood on the tracks era dylan.
im wilco's biggest fan. this song pretty much changed my life. I hurt my leg a lot today and i can tell you that it feels a lot better after listening to this song
It would be great if Wilco did the same thing as Pearl Jam,you know, "official bootlegs".They are great live band and their live shows are distinctive.Forty live albums would do,I hope.
what, you don't think they stretch the boundries and care little if they get the airplay other popular bands crave? you don't think tweedy's voice is somewhat reminiscent of the late great jerry garcia? i make the comparison only when trying to enlighten those who have never heard of wilco. i think the analogy is a good one. if you don't, that's fine. maybe you're not a fan of either band.
It's so cool, all my friends seem to be getting into Wilco now. I'm really thrilled that we can all share in following the best contemporary band going.
i really like wilco but after a 3 year wait i am really disappointed with "sky blue sky", i thought it is pretty lackluster. impossible germany to me is the only really great song, i think the last loose fur lp was much better. let's hope they have a new record before 2010.
After making records as amazing as Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born Wilco can do whatever they like...it's a cool chill out album...bet their next one is amazing.
One of the best things about them is the way they're always defying everyone's expectations. They are artists doing things strictly on their own terms.
Really- what the f--k are these asses talking about, ripping off this one and that one. When you think about it, all artists (including comedians) "borrow" from each other. It's only when they become so similar that they are indistinguisable, that they become "hacks". Give Wilco a break he makes great music.
"Bill Joel"? Who the fuck calls him "Bill Joel" anyway? And how does it rip off "Piano Man"-- just cos it's in 6/8?
And if you really want a "guitar beast" record, just go back to all those Yngwie albums you hide from your friends, and continue to practice sweep-picking on your pointy Jackson guitar, douchebag.
What I LOVE is Wilco and their music. What I hate is all the dicks that ponder what it all means or whether its good or not to them. If you like it enjoy. If you don't, easy. Don't listen. Quit the bickering you dicks! Write your own songs and shut the Fuck up. Ooh yeah, by the way. Jeff, I love you~!
He reminds me so much of Bob Dylan.. I really like it

Well, they are due a shite record (they haven't had one since A.M.), and it looks like this is it.....
He needs to re-arrange the band (again) and stop using JUST open chords.
I was hoping for a guitar beast album in the vain of "at least thats what you said....kidsmoke."
Oh well.
