In the first trick he double lift the blue card!! The 8 of harts is under the market card. The blue card is the joker. He palmed the 8 of harts, and says it is in his pocket.

its crazy, last time ellen took a card from a deck with another magician, she picked an 8 also!

VERY smart maneuver when he says "Dont let me see it" and pulls the fan of cards away, this is because Ellen was going for the wrong card. So he fans them out again. You always put the one you want them to take, pushed slightly out more then the others, 90% of the time they will pick that card. In the even of the 10%, do what james did ;)
