Services have also not improved, with 99% of communities not having access to dental care, and 54% living more than 50 kms away from medical services. Schools that have been promised have not been provided, and enrolments have not improved as education, because of distance, is simply not accessible to may communities. To make matters worse, the intervention has lead to greater poverty and greater rates of malnutrition. Yep, working a treat - NOT
There was no actual found evidence of paedophile rings in NT, and a mandatory health check conducted by the Government 3 years ago found no evidence of widespread abuse, so that aspect of the reason for the intervention was therefore based on a lie. The "boost" in housing hasn't occurred, with very little infrustructure being built. So apart from suspending the racial discrimination act and taking land away from these communities, what good has the intervention done? Absolutely none!
@walkabout09 Perhaps you need to do some independent research and find out what the real situation there is, rather than believing the rhetoric from scumbags like Jenny Macklin and Noel Pearson
@walkabout09 Education is not being adequately provided - the average Aboriginal child in NT is funded less than half of what the average non-Indigenous child is funded. And the real crux of the issue is that land is being taken away from the people, the government is reclaiming land previously won in hard faught land rights struggles, and is forcing the communities to sign 5 year leases, so financially they are worse of, ie they are forced to pay rent on land they previously owned.
@walkabout09 You say you don't support racism and yet you support the intervention. THAT says everything! Because the intervention is nothing short of pure unadulterated racism. The fact you fail to see that make you racist.
OMFG, you're nothing but a conservative troll, aren't you? I thought you said you voted Greens, you totally bely you voting intentions. I DON'T support any legislation that ACTIVELY represses the rights of any Australian based purely on race and ethnicity. THAT is racist, my friend. Of course I want to support Indigenous Australians in what you state, BUT the intervention is not the answer, and is more repressive than what was in place beforehand.

We need more Adam Bandts in Parliament. This intervention needs to end.
