Saw Pumpkins at Leeds and they weren't as life changing as I hoped.

The fact that they didn't play Cherub Rock only added to the disappointment :(

I understand that but bands generally balance new and old material - NIN earlier in the day did it perfectly plus their new and old material was complemetary. Verve this year managed it and so did Metallica at this year's Reading. You can't expect the crowd to get down to a setlist of 3/4 new stuff from a band with so much history - it just doesn't work and it didn't.

NIN's set was so perfect, I don't know how they did it but I enjoyed the songs I didn't know just as much as the ones I did. Think it was the sheer amount of energy.

I love the Pumpkins but Billy lost the crowd with way too much new material at Reading. I was right at the front and so fucking excited before they came on - by halfway I was almost looking at my watch. The Cherub Rocks were few and far between. A guy behind me yelled out, "Play the hits," and that summed it up really.

Crowd was shite, worst at a Pumpkins gig Ive been to. Set was ok, could have played Hummer and Muzzle, but the two you mentioned were particular highlights to a mediocre night...Best gig was June 07 at Bush Empire, 3 hrs of quality Pumpkins tracks, plus no support act!

Awesome i was in the front row too! Fought my way there the opening dark music was by 'the Goblins' from the horror film 'Susperia' But the pumpkins kicked ass, fans know they are always different live than to the albums in most cases and do great 'for fan' epic versions of the songs like the 20min version of Heavy metal machine!
