  • SEGA should make a home system where you can play every SEGA game ever released for home console (even maybe a few straight up arcades). Games should be downloadable for a minimal fee on their own servers, there you go, SEGA lives.

I just don't know why this doesn't seem obvious to everyone.

  • ahhh panzer dragoon, i still have that game and i still love it. one of my favorite games for the sega saturn.

  • Does anyone think that clip from crazy taxi at 6:04 looked a LOT like the first stage of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle? I mean they're probably both based off of san francisco but wow.

  • Yeah! Sega rules!!! I still don't fully understand why they did so badly...

  • I started reviewing Genesis games because it shows how much Sega couldn't compete. This video here just proves it.

  • Sega owned sports in the 90's. Sure Super NES had better sound and colors....but Sega had the sports games.

  • ...

Where's Billy Hatcher and ChuChu Rocket?

  • I could confuse the Master System's graphics with 16-bit graphics. They are really good.

  • I LOVE SEGA!!!!!!!!

  • hey MrGuitarguy1986 dose it piss u off more than eny thing that the 360 controller looks a hell of a lot like the dream cast controller note that the controller is the same shape and and buttons are the same coller and letters on the buttons minus the memory card slots that the one reson i stayed with play station the controllers stayed the same no offence to the other systems

  • i had high hopes for sega and its one the best systems i owed back in the day but as good things come to pass i went to the n64 and then i went to ps1 ps2 and now i own a ps3 (( its ironic that i typed this using my ps3))

  • There are really only a handful of bad sega titles, IN SEGA'S ENTIRE history.

  • Sega shits on sony, nintendo and microsoft (xbox). Stupid marketing decisions were made, but sega dreamcast was MUCH better than ps2, and saturn was better than ps1, there is really no questioning that. Every game that came out on DC was an A or B title, even the launch titles. Fortunately Microsoft was smart enough to buy them out. Many xbox games are actually sega games and the Original controller for the xbox (first model) was mostly designed buy sega.

  • i'm sorry but dreamcast was cool, but it was NOT better than ps2. Dreamcast couldn't last because it wasn't dvd based, i know everyone remembers playing shenmue with 4 discs! and I don't think anybody would want to take credit for designing the first xbox controller, it was huge! Sega was always the 1ST company to come out with anything new, then companies like sony would copy them and do it better

  • @Motown49001 I think sega consoles are better gameplay wise.

  • lol yes i had to make it through the first couple minutes but yeah dude nostalgia broskie!!

  • the first RPG to reach american soil....

Phantasy Star for the Master System

  • they only make games now, not systems. they're still around.

so many good games back then..

  • i wanted to keep watching this vid buy could only make it to 1:30 cuz of the horrible music. It sounds like a phone ringing every 2 sec.

  • You know you can turn off the music and play your own?

  • @MFDIF it's a shame you didn't wait 2:11 LMAO

  • @MFDIF cause it gets fuckin awesome HAHAHA

  • ZUDOKUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yo man thats eternal champions at 3:20

  • All those great titles ... , and forgot REZ!

  • SEGA would probably still be producing home consoles, if they had just made better marketing decisions, with the saturn, and dreamcast. and never hired bernie stoller

  • I need to know the name of that game. 3:20 ive been looking for it everywhere.

  • Eternal Champions

  • To this day, I have yet to buy a nintendo system... Was loyal to sega all the way. My first system was the Master System. Once they went under, I moved on to Playstation and Xbox. I'll alway remember all the great sega games.

  • i love sega my first system was the sega masters i remember it came with 3d glasses that u conected to the console....back then u were loyal 2 one system ....in .other words i hate spmario sonic rulz

  • @ALB3RT1214 Well they could do what they always did, and make more franchises.

  • they couldn't put all of sega's awsomeness in 1 vid. without sega their wouldn't be any mature games

  • OMFG I played some of those Genesis games, and most Dreamcast games that you showed, the Dreamcast era was Sega in it's prime. What ever happened to the days where a man or woman could just sit down with a SEGA game like Jet Grind Radio or Sonic Adventure and play that stuff for hours, and tell friends?!? SEGA needs a revival,I hope they'll make great games in the future, but I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch, so to speak. :3

  • hey dude their not dead yet i was watching UFC yesterday (the rashad evans and thiago silva fight)

and on the upper part of the octagon i saw blue lettering that said SEGA that obviously says something if they have the money to endorse UFC fighters

  • That Dreamcast boot up sound effects feel so nostalgic

  • U FUCKING RULE LIFE... make more vids plz

  • oh sega how i want u to make moar systems. it would make so many people happy, there r many dreamcast fans who want a new system

  • Sega is back! there releasing a new system in 2010 called ringedge

  • fuck I WISH... dream on though..

  • i really wish sega would make another gaming system

  • We owe alot to the gaming company known as Sega. Their glory days may be behind them, but they set the stage for most of the games we enjoy today.

    Thank you, Sega.

  • O.O no timestalkers u broke my heart

  • Lol, I never knew Sega was an American company untill I read its history.

  • Remeber everyone....if it wasnt for SEGA games woulndt be how they are now!!

  • I'm no fanboy, but I thought that credit went toNintendo?

  • @BlueSkyFlacon Yes, and no. Yes because gamin almost died before nintendo blasted the market with the nes, but sega came along, and made more than half of the franchises we love. So its more like a to way split.

  • WTF WITH THE MUSIC!

  • Sonic was the only thing that kept me knowing about sega

  • i agree

  • What game is that after Streets of Rage?

  • Comment removed

  • I have to disagree, sure they have a couple of misteps (mainly from the western division) but they still dominate the arcade, and they still put out great console titles that are innovative and fun and unique:

    Valkyria Chronicles

    Yakuza Series

    Phantasy Star UNiverse

They re=released VOOT on xbla with fantastic net support.

The arcades are dominated by sega, Border Break being a big highlight but even crazier games like Block People are great additions...

So no, I would have to disagree.

  • Hmm sega is still alive and kicking... Valkyria, Yakuza, Virtual FIghter, Phantasy Star, Sonic etc...and in the arcades they are still destroying stuff... not to mention Bayonetta...

  • Brings back memories. I love my SMS, too bad it wont work anymore. Wore the damn thing out, lol.

  • Very nice compilation! If only Sega would make a new console. :(

  • yeah, you just go ahead and quote avgn.

  • ahhhhh old times

  • SEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • when sega saturn videos are made about the best games for the console shouldn't they include guardian heroes?

  • OOOOH im ecstatic... i LOVE SEGA. It reminds me of my childhood lol

  • cool vid man! not bad for an old american company! :p they've done well with themselves ... long live SErvice GAmes!

  • I think they shortened it into Sega.

  • why are they talking about SEGA in the description box like they're gone? the company is still in business. they are the sixth-biggest publisher in the US and are the number 2 publisher for the WII. Number 1 being Nintendo of course.

  • wow Space Harrier on the Master System looks better than it does on the Genesis!

  • The American poster of Virtual On was... interesting

  • Oh yeah Virtual On!

  • That game was a religion in Japan.

  • It's a religion in my room! I also got Gotcha Force! too bad It got bad marketing T.T

  • " they were perhaps the greatest single developer in gaming history"

I disagree, they were creative but had a terrible business model and couldn't commit to a concept long enough to keep developers interested in their, "innovations".

Moreover their quality has dropped and they've lost talent since they've burnt a lot of bridges in the market and keep making the same mistakes...

Haven't you noticed that the Sonic franchise has gone to hell?

I was a a "Sega boy" growing up though.

  • When/where did you get that from IGN?

  • don't forget about their hugely popular arcade division. many of their home consoles were possible because of it.

many franchises have gone to hell. i don't think this vid is celebrating modern day sega....just up until the dc. most of sonic team left after s adventure 2......of course it's going to suck! :p

  • i don't care what anybody says, SEGA will live forever, and is probably the GREATEST developers of hardware and software, they still make arcade games and machines, while providing the greatest games of today for the new consoles!!! I<3Sega

  • Sega really brought new things to the forefront of games, such as standard cd conoles, such as the sega cd and on. Also they created som amazing new features on each of their new consoles. The sega saturn was the first to have console link capability, and the dreamcast the first to have internet compatability, and pc compatability.

  • SEGA CREATED MODERN GAMING. Lockheed Martin used polygonal shapes to create visual depth on the flight simulators to train pilots in the military sector. Sega visioned the use of polygons to create genuine 3D worlds as opposed to combining sprite base 2D planes. Sega then specked the revolutionary MODEL 1 arcade board, and modern gaming was soon born.

  • amazing video. I love all video games, but I think that sega really was the best. More groundbreaking titles than nintendo, that is even today rehashing the same games (granted, they do a good job of it).

  • what about Gamegear?

  • game gear was fun as hell

  • ate battery's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, lol, was fun though

  • what about quake 3!

    is it on an emu?

  • Wow JGR looks very fresh after all those saturn games.

  • Oh, I didn't even notce the box covers on the side. Anyway, thanks.

  • weres the sg-100?

  • This is a very good video, but you're missing some really great Sega-developed titles: Ristar Comix Zone Astal Dragon Force Die Hard Arcade Chu Chu Rocket! Samba De Amigo Phantasy Star Online Cosmic Smash Rez I nearly included Ecco the Dolphin, ToeJam & Earl, Shining Force, and Beyond Oasis, but those were actually developed by other companies, despite being conceptually designed by Sega. Still, this is a fantastic list!
  • Glad you did some research before you posted.

    - Phanasty Star Online. Didn't include squeals. Only originals were presented

    - Didn't include puzzle games.

    - Astal- It was a 2D sprite game. Good but late.

-BTW- MM and the enchanted castle was developed by SOA but I tried to avoid licensed games

    - Couldn't fit in the other remaining games.

To add to your list "Wonderboy was also never developed by SEGA.

  • Ah, yes, of course! I don't know why I included Phantasy Star Online when Phantasy Star was one of the first games in the video.

Oh yeah, and I should have added Psycho Fox; not an incredibly notable title, but definitely one of Sega's better 8-bit titles. And also, Mystic Defender actually had a precursor on the SMS called SpellCaster.

I don't even know why I'm doing this. You should be proud of your incredible video! Congratulations.

  • very well done

  • I love Sega

  • wheres the sg-1000

  • Good Point. I was actually going to incorporate it but there were only three notable games developed for it.

    Monoco GP

    Zaxxon

    Turbo

Sega only started to become a dominant force in 1985 with formation of the AM2 division led by Yu Suzuki. The history really starts from there.

  • SEGA is back in the hardware market folks! They have begun work on a new system based off of Ringedge that will launch next year. If you like the info. Send me a message.

  • Dude... a history of sega? why did you not included anything from Sega CD. Ground Zero Texas or Mad Dog Mcree

  • Those games weren't developed by SEGA.

  • o yea, i guess your right!

  • Comment removed

  • 2 words: screw you.

  • please sega com back to the console world

  • Sega could never compete on the hardware market. Nintendo/Sony/M$ have huge financial backing and can afford to take losses in order to sell hardware. I was thinking Nintendo would end up like this to be honest. If the Wii wasn't a hit I think they would either just concentrate on the portable business or produce for the 360 and PS3. Mario Galaxy on the ps3 (1080p) might be amazing though! :)

Don't get me wrong, I loved my SMS, GEN, and DC! not the 32x though. :P

  • The SEGA Master System had one of the greatest 3-D effects for an early unit.

Genesis had "ToeJam and Earl"....Real fun game!

  • wat no sonic adventure?!

  • Wow. I think there are still some titles in the compilation I'm still trying to aquire. Sega made some really solid arcade games. Its a shame adventure RPG is a genre they make to few titles. However the one's they have made turned out to be the most memorable in gaming history. Shenmue I and Shenmue II most notably for the cinema and depth of talent utilised in the production, visual style, original music, acting and cinematic direction. Very powerful impact.
