thank you for the nice video. I'm planning to go in june 2012 but information is hard to find. Did you have a guide or is it easy to hike on your own? Is the road to hualapai hilltop ok for a rental car? thx!
@melaniejaecques You're going to love the place... and June is a pretty good month to go, but it can be HOT. It was about 105F when we got to the bottom... it makes the river perfect for swimming and just soaking to cool off. You don't need a guide to hike down. Many people use the mule trains to carry their stuff and just hike down pack-less. It's only about 10-12 miles but because of the heat many people hike in/out very early in the morning. The road to the hilltop is nice and smooth.
@PermacultureBen Thank you, I'm really looking forward to it! 105 is very hot! I guess we will need a mule to carry our stuff. Do you also know something about the road to Hualapai hilltop?
@melaniejaecques The road to Haulapai hilltop is smooth and is fine for any type of car. The parking at the top is in a pretty good sized parking lot at the end of the road or along the road leading up to that. There's always a lot going on up there because it's the turn around point for the mule trains. There are no fees as far as I know.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Did you need a rodent/animal proof container for food at the campground at all? Can't seem to find any info on this for the Havasupai area.
@lroh333 Nothing needed unless you're worried about REALLY big lizards :) I do wish I'd taken my camping hammock. With all the trees for hanging it and the hot nights it would have been the perfect bed.
