What a treat to hear such a great recording. Every note is clear and contributes to the musical phrase. The only comment is that I wish he held on to those chords at the end a tad bit longer >.>.

How sad to have lost Lipatti when he was so young! this is the best performance i've heard on youtube

It is spectaculair, but this restored recording is tampered with. I have origional direct cut columbia 78 rpm pressings and this version on youtube has a higher pitch but a seems played slightly slower... how's that possible?

But it is still the same recording and the origional is indeed of this excellent quality!

There are many good more recent recordings of the Grieg Concerto (Curzon, Kovacevich, Andsnes, to name a few), but the Lipatti version still reigns supreme

completely agree!!! you are absolutely right!! Lipatti's rendition is all very organic, all the virtuosity is serving the musical purposes.... all the difficult passages have a meaning... it's so easy to show off in this concerto... despite this fact, there is not even one single fake note in this recording... one can feel that every single note of it carries Lipatti's full soul!
