This way of speech is very common in Chinese, and should not sound insincere to most Chinese speakers

@ckoo if we don't learn from history, than we are doomed to repeat it. i talk about history exactly because many young people in taiwan are taught that it isn't important. 白色恐怖 and 228 just happened really. 60 years is not that long ago. taiwanese people need to learn there history. i actually find that young people do find history interesting when you tell them what really happened.
