  • this guy who narrates with his voice has convinced me, with his voice alone, to buy these headphones.

  • Do you have any emotion?

  • Nice 24-105 right there.. gear buff. 5D + another? 24-105?

  • I have a Fiio E10, and i was wondering if that will drive these headphones properly. Thanks!

  • @nightowl217 Not quite. You want a small desktop amp, or a beefy portable amp to drive these well. The Fiio E9 (desktop) is more suited to the HD650 than the E10. That's not to say it can't improve, but it's a good point to from.

  • Just got these today afternoon. Have them connected to Asus Xonar Essence STX. They rock I would say. Just waiting to get paid and then will buy some descent headphone amplifiers. Was thinking about Grado SR325is but they more about brightness ( that makes these not really versatile ) . Just can't go wrong.

  • @marcellus261 I wouldn't bother buying a separate amp unless you're going to get something at $500+ range. I have Asus Xonar ST (pci version of STX) as well, and Little Dot Mk5 amplifier, and there's no difference in sound quality or loudness between the two, In fact, I prefer the sound straight from ST.ST has very good components to provide excellent sound quality, much better than amps or DACs that cost as much as the entire card.

  • @marcellus261 You have to know that in terms of difficulty to run the headphones, ST/STX can provite enough voltage to run almost ANY headphones out there. HD650's need about 2 volts if I'm correct, and ST is able to swing up to 12 volts. Also, you have to know that when you use the RCA output on ST to connect it to the separate amplifier, you lose absolutely all features that card offers, equalizer, surround modes, crossover frequency modes...all you can adjust is Volume.

  • Even though the hd598's are half the money, can some body tell me how comparable they are to these 650 models as far as clarity and fullness in sound.

  • @lions66666

HD650: Richness (full tone) over clarity, more detail, darker tone, difficult to drive

HD598: Balance between richness and clarity, a little less detail, brightest sennheiser (still not too bright), very easy to drive, one of the best gaming headphones

    Pure Music: 650>598

Versatility: 598>650 (no amp, more genre bandwidth)

    Gaming: 598>>>650

The HD650 is my favorite phone, but I would recommend the HD598 if you prefer a brighter phone without having to amp. They both are great.

  • @lions66666 If you want a relaxed, laid back and neutral sound that won't necessarily make you excited, then 650's. They make most music sound boring. HD598's are complete opposite.. They have less bass, but more upper mids and highs, and that makes them sound more alive and engaging. If you mainly listen to classical, orchestral or jazz, get HD650's, since IMHO those are only genres where HD650's sound better than HD598's. For everything else, go for HD598's.

  • @lions66666 And by way, one tip that I wish someone gave me when I was upgrading from HD558's (which are basically identical to 598's in terms of sound quality) to HD650's. Differences in sound quality are much lesser than you'd expect by just looking at prices. As I said, I have 558's and 650's, and I prefer 558's for gaming and movies, pop, rock, metal, even female vocal music. 650's clearly beat them only in classical and orchestral, they tend to sound "bigger" and fuller.

  • Good review. To the point and nice camera work.

  • I had the HD650's for about 2 weeks, whilst they sound great and easily better than most headphones within its price range there was no point in me keeping them when I already own the Denon D7000's.

  • fuck what you talk fast;O

  • @Viczey Are you fucking stupid?

  • @stabandhack1 nah man. I changed idea beats by dre do sucks. I'm picking up some AKG K702 :)

  • Germans are good at marketing, poor at technology. I have been fooled by German marketing and their fancy packaging/design before.

  • @thewakz wow... I have no idea what you are talking about man. seriously im german and I am damn proud about companies like beyerdynamic who manage to constantly put out solid handmade yet affordable hardware, that puts overpriced plastic-toys like beats by dre to shame. I payed around 230$ (converted) for my DT770 but they are worth every penny and now I enjoy my music like never before! I returned the Sennheiser HD 558 (~170$) I had ordered before...

  • @BlackAera I have a pair of Beyers, the DT 770's in fact. They are awesome. I also own some other German made gear. I just think it's hit and miss as all with German products, I guess that could be said with ANY product. But I think German companies usually choose really slick design over function and reliability. I am not trying to knock on a certain heritage or race at all. Sorry if you felt that way. My bad!

  • @thewakz nah man it's all good :) we all have been fooled by fancy looks before (videogames, movies, girlfriends u name it) it's just a common technique to suggest quality. glossy finish, white plastic, sleek design (apple products lol) all these things appeal to our senses because the first impression we get is always a visual one. you should try out some headphones blindfolded, you would be supprised ;)

  • @BlackAera I wouldn't be looking at this video if I wasn't considering them as my new headphones. I was more or less asking about the quality and long lasting of these cans.

  • good review. sad youtube comments.

  • you might want to shut up when the music is on? just a thought...

  • Beats By Dre are better and cooler.

  • @Viczey Hahahah. Bests by Dre are cheaply made, bass-heavy cans. Just because the headphones have a big 'B' on the side, doesn't make them good headphones. I have multiple pairs of sub-$100 cans that I'll put up against Beats by Dre any day. I bet you've never even tried these Sennheisers, have you? You've probably never even tried any headphones other than Beats or crappy $20 cans. Beats by Dre suck, the end.

  • @hilariousguys Completely wrong man. 1 - yeah the design looks a lot cooler than shitty sehannizer that looks like an airplane driver. 2 - the bass and the high sounds are just incredibly clear and deep 3 - are comfortable and good looking and that "b" fucking rocks! 4 - they've the controltalk which is awesome. End of the story :)

  • @Viczey I can tell you are a clueless 14 year old or just an ignorant fucker... Beats by dre are for the "cool kids".. it's more about the fact that they are called beats by "dre"... if it wasnt for the name and just took the sound quality they are rather shit.

  • @tranquiliz3r23 please go suck some cocks and shut up :)

  • @tranquiliz3r23 I fucking agree, beats by dre suck they're just a waste of money, and before anybody rant me, I've fucking tried them. Even my creative Fatal1ty gaming headset is better.

  • @norra124 Amen.

  • @Viczey 1. Yes, the design of the Beats is good I have to admit, but the build quality isn't.

    2. Maybe the sound quality is good to you because youve never heard anything better. I've gone to BestBuy many times and tried out the Beats but just couldnt bring myself to like them. BestBuy has amplifiers making the cans sound better, so if I don't like them there, why would I like them at home with no amplifier?

    3. Most Sennheisers are way more comfortable.

    4. Other cans have a similar cable

  • @hilariousguys Ok man. I think everyone has their tastes and in my opinion Beats are perfect for me. Probably they aren't the best overall but really good. And the studio and pro ones are definely as good as Sehannisers :)

  • @Viczey do you have any sort of prrof to baxk up this statement? have you ever used a high-end pair of sennheiser headphones?

  • @Viczey Definitely no where close. You're an idiot. Just because everyone and their mother has Beats, doesn't mean they're good. It's just like those shitty North Face jackets. They're shitty and overpriced, but poor idiots think it makes them look rich or something. You want a good jacket? Check out Arc'Teryx. You want a good set of headphones? Check out Sennheiser.

  • @frattyice Idiot is your mum maybe and I changed idea. beats by Dre are overpriced and cheapy made. I'm ordering some AKG K702 :)

  • @Viczey well the K702 are great great headphones but they will only shine with the right type of music. The AKG Ks are fantastic with orchestral, acoustic, open sounding music and will still sound god with bassheavy tunes but if you are into electronic music and or hiphop / pop some beyerdynamic DT 770 / 880 / 990 should do better for you. I really don't know much about the K702 but the K701 is just a slightly better and a bit more sounded version of the K601 which I own.

  • @Viczey Idiot is my mom? You changed idea? Wow you should just stick to the Beats, since any type of quality would just be wasted on your retarded mind.

  • @frattyice I do apologize. I did a stupid choice. Sorry for what I said, now I'm sure the AKG K702 is the perfect headpones for my tastes and beats sucks XD

  • @Viczey I respect your subjective opinion man but I know far too much about headphones to believe your words. Beats look sick but they are overpriced as shit and sound cheap in comparison. Much bass, much high end. Anyone can do that with a little bit of sounding. What they can't do is play precise and clear. The Lowend conflicts with the midbass (yes there is more bass levels than just sub) and the high end is not clear, only boosted to suggest more clarity. How deaf can ppl be?

  • @BlackAera Just changed idea. beats sucks! I'm ordering the AKG K701. Those are real headpones :)

  • Great script moron

  • +1 like for listening to DnB

  • very nice video... wait tips? you kidding me? this video is perfect, no uuh, or pretty muches, all straight forward showing us what we want to know

  • I watch this video when I'm on the toilet constipated.

  • like cocain much?

  • do they leak much?

  • @Veriscis they leak loads, they are full open. sound great but :)

  • Are you the guy who sells Dysons?

  • I've watched a lot of your videos and I really enjoy them. I can see that you have some knowledge about music and therefore, I would like to ask you for some advice, if thats okay with you of course :)

Im looking for a good pair of headphones with some really nice sound. I dont know if I should buy the Beats or Sennheiser (or something third). Could you recommend any headphones? I like when the quality of the music is good (good bass ect.) and that they can be used on an iphone.

    Regards

  • @LokliteLoL don't get these for iphone they are too difficult to drive. the beats are poor value for money. could look at something like UE400 as long as you're not paying retail

  • I tought the computer was talking

  • Good review. But man, talk slower!

  • @ramp3

he sounds like he is reading the BBC news.

  • I've been looking at these headphones for mostly ipod listening. Although I will be using it for mixing would they be good for ipod use? Also what portable amp would you recommend for these? Thanks! great review!

  • @MrRonGilman not trying to take techlobby's potential advice away from you but head over to headfi . org it really helped me out a lot when i got into audio.

  • @MrRonGilman For production and mastering, I wouldn't pick up the 650 model. If you look carefully at Sennheiser's marketing blurb, it admits to being colored, or not neutral, not to dismiss the technical ability of the HD650. Now as for alternatives, the DT880 and HD600 are quite proficient already, and much closer to neutral. As for an amp, what is sufficient for you may not be enough for the next person. A basic setup starts at an L9 line out to a Fiio E11, and goes up from there.

  • @aeriescannonfodder thanks for the response man. But what about listening to the Ipod? That will be my main use. I listen to an extremely vast collection of music do you think these would be versatile enough with the amp you mentioned? HD 650s with the E11 amp?

  • @MrRonGilman A wide variety of styles and genres, eh? Well the HD650 will come across as somewhat dark-sounding and distant, so it's not a do-all headphone. The Fiio will not really do too much about this sound characteristic, though it can drive it fine. If you're dead set on the 650, you should pair it with the brighter DT880 to complement the sound. As for portability, it's a full-size open back headphone, or a terrible thing to be lugging around a bus. Check out headfi for more perspectives

  • Thanks a lot for your review, I appreciate it!!! You gave the right info i was looking for

  • While the HD650 didn't really win me over, the review itself did. Amazing job guys, well done.

  • u talk fast

  • ur talking a lot bro take it easy

  • bass in this headphones is like in the high quality large column hi fi

  • @TheKlimekpl True. I bought them 2 days ago, and their bass really is very similar to high end floor standing speakers. Very deep and powerful, but not loose like from a subwoofer or low quality headphones.

  • Is that a computerised voice?

  • What the fuck is wrong with your voice?

  • had to order enjoy the 350 dollar offer; 649 normally

  • Just got them earlier this week and I FUCKING LOVE THEM.

  • @buddy39914

Wait a little longer and you will love it even more :)

  • that's half the price of Dr. Dre headphones

  • @quiz0880 Half the price of dr. dre headphones? Yet, dr.dre headphones sound like the cheaest sennheiser headphones. The best dr. dre's shouldnt cost more than 100 dollars. Comparing them to HD650 is just ridiculous...its like comparing a ford T to a new mercedes s class.

  • @XtremePhysX Yea, that amp is ok, its gonna run them to nice volume levels, but you really want high end amps for these headphones to shine. The problem is, with weak amps, they are extremelly dark and slow, they cant follow fast music. If you dont plan to buy expensive amp in future, then better go for HD600's , because they will sound better out of that beresford.

  • being a poor student sucks ass :(

  • "that looks very expinsive!" hahahahahahah omg .. go home!

  • so. if im going to use this with my computer, what do i need? a good soundcard right? to get the most out of them.

  • @jespero93 A sound card converts digital to analog. An amp is used to power the headphones. You my want to get both.

  • "The head phones did not hurt my ears, but I believe it may come down to your physical makeup!" LOL!!

  • annoying ass voice.

  • PLEASE, fix your voice man!

  • how does it cost??

  • impress your friends by quoting something from sennheiser web page done that with mine eh250 :DD

  • I have a Onyko 705 AVR receiver. Will I need a headphone amp as well?

  • HAHAHA i love these comments. you guys are epic

  • great professional review, but a little too fast talking

  • Here is a tip don't try to talk and play the music at the same time. Otherwise a very good review. I like the fact that you didn't ramble on.

  • am a dj/producer so am happy with theez babys :P

  • this guy is reviewing whilst trying to avoid a pack of hungry rabies wolves ... LOL

  • god dude your fucking downsyndrome kid

  • @joekillerdude68 LMFAO!!

  • I wouldn't use this one for 'critical listening', because of it's a rather 'colored' sound.

It's very nice to enjoy music, but IMO not to work on/with music.

I'd recommend the Beyerdynamic DT880 over the Sennheiser HD650 for studio use (or other uses that need critical listening). There may be better, but DT880 is in same price range (even cheaper I think).

  • and also stop talking with your mouth fucking CLOSED FUCK SAKE ITS ANNOYING

  • whats with this stupid fucking 1 and a half minute information introduction bullshit that nobody cares about?

  • has this guy even gone through puberty yet?

  • @123212go obviously not

  • this vid makes me feel like im a snob if i buy them but still a good vid

  • Comment removed

  • @PsychoticButcher Don't you have a bridge to be under?

  • @PsychoticButcher dude its ok.

  • you breath like a panting pedo, careful children...

  • Does anybody know what the track is playing at 3:56?

  • @iamrunningoutoftime Sounds like Drum and Bass. all I know

  • @xXxxxxDUDExxxxXx thank you for your reply, but I also know as much. :( I am trying to figure out what the actual song is :)

  • @iamrunningoutoftime Remembers me a Sub Focus track

  • Great review. Thanks.

  • I don't like when headphone-noobs are making reviews of headphones, just like in this video.

  • I get so pissed off with so called audiophiles and their rambling bullshit about headphones and their crisp highs, full mids and loud bass most of them can't read fucking music FFS! I know so many idiots that don't have a musical note in their head but feel they can tell me what headphones are good and which are bad this guy sounds like a pompous prick get over yourself you fucking tool I've got a set of V-moda crossfade Lp's stick that up your ass you sennheiser fanboy ;-)

  • @CiaranVanDon i dont need to be able to read music to tell if it sounds like shit or not

  • @infernace13 Mate you haven't got a note in your head, stop bluffing ;) Too many people who are tone deaf and commenting on headphones, think it's time to stop the bullshit don't you ;)

  • @CiaranVanDon funny calling him a fan boy using v-modas......I bet you have the new fanboy true blood moda's.

  • @dragonsepiphany No I still have my pearl white edition, love em ;). People who wear Sennheisers are generally audiophile snobs, they do my fucking head in!

  • this or dr dre studio?

  • @H8sch00l This, by far.

  • @jeroeniskoning yeah but do they sound good if i use it with iphone? and are they as comfortable as the beats?

  • @H8sch00l Beats will match better with mp3 and mp3-players. But I don't really understand why you would spend soo much money on headphones while listening to an Iphone?

    These are more comfortable btw...

  • @H8sch00l these are hi-fi headphones and not meant for your ipod to listen 128 kbps mp3 files. you'll need a good soundcard or speaker system to plug them

  • @myguineapig yeah thats why i am asking... ALL my songs are 320 but iphone does not have enought power for all headsetts, but it sounds great with the beats

  • @H8sch00l this. beats is overpriced garbage

  • @H8sch00l this by far

  • His voice is weird.

  • I have owned a pair of these for two years. After the first year I purchased a Mobius cable for them and the combination is utterly incredible. I strongly prefer headphones to speakers any day!

  • Hey, I'm getting these soon for my computer and hi-fi use.

My question is: How would these be with an iPod? Most of my iPod files are high quality 320, so none of that 128 crap. Would it be able to power these headphones?

Basically, I'm wondering if they sound good on an iPod, but I'm not specifically buying them for my iPod. (Would a $100 pair of headphones specifically made for an iPod sound better than these when using it? How about when I'm using an amp? etc. etc.)

  • @VastitasBorealis You just don't need to use an amp, you need a very powerful amp. These are not recommended for portable use. It's just not worth it for that purpose.

  • @NuggetNationMember The reason people rip on beats, is not because they are bad headphones (although they are). We rip on beats because they are extremely overpriced. You pay more for the Dr. Dre name then you do for the actual headphones. My roommate has the Pros and I have listened to them, they aren't bad headphones, but by no means are they worth $400. I might consider buying the Pros if they were between $150-200.

  • my sennheiser hd555's ^_^

  • What would be a decent amp to use with these?

  • @adegroot22 If you want to invest 200$ in one of the best price/perf amps on the market get the Little Dot MKIII

  • 34 people own dre beats and still are in self-denial.

  • @MeestaBojangles hahaha that's soo god damn true!

  • 0:30 whats kack mean. im probaly saying that wrong

  • @LoganLive09 shit

  • tested these out and they were fantastic! .... a bit too laid back for me tho.... since my music collection is mainly rock ...

  • to anyone who might help me with this, I want better headphones than my old koss porta pro, I am thinking of this but the price is abit high for me at the moment so Im thinking of these, the DT770, are they good?

  • @Hinjima

You must get an amp for the dt770. Otherwise they'll sound harsh. With it powered by an amp, the dt770 will sound better on the bass and less harsh on the highs. Mids are so-so on the dt770. But this is what I find and it truly depends on person's taste.

I'm also eyeing on the denon d2000 =)

  • @superheaton ah ok, well I bought the DT770, should arive in a few days, but I actuly bought the 32ohm version, wich is easier to drive for portable devices:) I appreciate your reply, I might get an amp sooner or later.

  • I lay in bed and listen to the this everynight, and i sleep like a baby to this voice:)

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THESE COMPARE WITH THE AKG K701'S???

  • Unboxing start''s at 1:13

  • I dont want a history lesson, i want to know about THESE headphones!

  • These headphones are great, I was lucky enough to have a friend at my university who owns a pair of these and they sound INCREDIBLE!

  • You speak too fast :S

  • "As in most cases, after connecting to several portable devices, the sound seemed louder and more fuller than the default speakers or headphones supplied."

For 250 pounds...no shit, i sincerely hope so.

  • @scorp1onx Learn a bit about audiophiles before you judge.

  • wierd voice

  • which do you recomend for studio mixing and also person use with my iphone. Sennheiser hd650 or akg q701?

  • Comment removed

  • nice video man. i have found my nxt pair of headphones

  • If you are a member of Head-Fi thumb this up!

  • Frankly, I think you may have blown them on the burn in... Was it bass heavy music and how loud above normal listening volume was it it? Also, II still love mine, but they seem to have lost a bit of definition. I don't know why. They were THE most wonderful sound I'd ever heard right out of the box. I'm betting it'sjust a stage of burn in. meh. Perhaps my ears have ogtten used to their awesom eness and simply 'expect' such from every song.

  • i get crackling from these at particular moments in songs, what could the problem be?

they are completely new, and iv'e tried these with different sources.

what can the problem be? they also have about 100hours burn in so that cant be that problem

  • @Bigeemil Are they completely new or do they have burn in, make up your mind.

What's the media you're listening too?

  • @GodModeGaming I got them burned in asap. the media im listening to is mostly metal, and its the only genre where the phones are popping and crackling. When im listening to classic or normal rock they are completely smooth. Listening to iron maiden is almost unbearable...

    appreciate any answer...

  • @Bigeemil it must be the quality of the iron maiden recording then. try using a different rip of that particular media.

  • Hint, buy them on ebay from an AUTORIZED reseller. You'll save around $200

  • For true audiophiles willing to spend well into the quadra digits, the 650's are widely agreed upon to be the best bang for a true audiophile experience. They are very revealing of **** recording's, which means you'll want all FLAC or 320kbps @ least. The 595's are good, and are 'entry' level audiophile headphones, and they sound better (even) on integrated audioproccessors than most people have heard in their life... But I'm VERY happy I made the jump to 650.

  • Yes, the 650's are far better than 595's, BUT; bang for buck, the 595's are better. If you want near audiophile nivhana and a truly glorious, laid back, and relaxing experience with 0 buyers remorse, buy 650's

  • To All Wondering:

I purchased the 650's and a Xonar STX about a month ago. My background is audiophile. In short, My ears have never beheld such beauty. The initimacy, the transparency, the detail. Sounds are just flying around. My ears Melt every time I put these on. The Xonar drives these well, and to achieve a marginally higher quality signal quite literally doubles your 'investment' P.S. I have the 595's and the 650. IMO the 650 is worth around $200 over the 595, but for those worried, go650

  • I have heard that the 600's and 650's are miles better than the 595's, anyone care to comment on these claims?

  • QUESTION: I am interested in getting these headphones for gaming... I have heard that you need a good amp for them to work at their full potential, the soundcard I will be getting is the ASUS Xonar Essence ST Soundcard, and it's apparently got a built in amp, I'm wondering if this amp will be good enough to drive the headphones.. also I can choose to purchase the Op AMP Upgrade Kit (which I'm pretty sure soldering is involved that will void my warranty)

  • @1981z28camaro I'm also finding some mixed reviews from some high-falutin people that would probably be able to hear a difference of 1 hz from another pair, and say they are complete crap due to this difference...

I would like to get some clear answers on this...out of ALL these midrange headphones (IE: 595's, 600's, and 650's) which pair would offer me the best clarity, and best bass?

that's all I care about, I'm not going to notice something an audiophile would notice.

  • Detachable cables should have been used like 20 years ago, were JUST starting to do it now? I've went through like 5 headphones cuz of SUPER SKINNY headphone cords.

  • I JELLY.
