Noticed you have the Vortec AC & alternator brackets. I looked in the book at the Vortec 7400 oval 100cc chamber heads & in your opinion would you recommend the Vortec heads over the 1970 LS6 head with a 118cc chamber rectangle and what size valve is in the Vortec head? I am like 98crewcab1 I have questions more than one. I have a 1990 SS truck we put the 1991 rear end in it for the 410 gear and I have the 400 turbo transmission so I am at 6 to 8 miles to the gallon I need to change to a 4L80E!

It's Qjet or nothin. A well tuned Qjet beats anything.

@SKARdaBASShead956 your an idiot they got rid of carbs because of emissions chevy tried to keep it with the electronic controlled carbs but those didnt run clean enough in the end to avoid the jump to fuel injection, now you stand behind my truck for a few mins with it on then stand beside a truck with cats you will notice a difference in the air quality now stand behind a fuel injected modern car you will notice a huge difference

that is either a 795 or 850 cfm carb either way its a waste of hp to put all the effort into swapping the motor in and keeping the pos qjet.

@trkklr77 nothing wrong with a qjet if you know what your doing you can make nice power with them but with that said you will never see me use one i love the look and simplicity of hollys too much

they are 290 hp and 440 lb ft of tq from the factory that is for a 96 7400!

q-jets are the best if you know how to rebuild them right they'll wax a holley's ass or an edelbrock and edelbrock isnt tht good cheap and they don't last long with me anyways

once i learned to rebuild the qjet, i fell in love with the response,power and decent mileage those things can deliver.

No tbi can replace the sound that qjet makes when you open it up.

@sethster70 Dude it will be strong and fun trust me. 454 vortec is a tough mother. My dad has a 96 3500 with the 454 vortec and it hauls ass with a trailer

hells yah, you can get setup for dual carbs, three, or how many yah want you just need to find the right place and have the money. I know mopar back in the day had something called the six pack, the manifold had 3 2 barrel carbs, and one of my friends has a chrysler C300 with a 413 wedge block with a cross ram intake(dual carb), its one bamf ride

It's in between carb and fuel injection, known as TBI 305. They're very unreliable!

sounds nice, not to talk crap or anything though but by experience qjets arent all that great, i would go with an edelbrock, and for racing or something i would go with holley or something, but it sounds and looks nice, good job

edelbrock is junk, nothing but problems with the carbs. try a Quickfuel. its pretty much a holley but a bunch of old holley guys put there own spin on it, solid carb.

Qjet is fine. Sure sounds quiet for open headers. Mine would rattle shit off the wall from all the vibration caused by the noise! Mine wasnt vortec tho and didnt seem to run as smooth as that one. Nice engine!

@creamyfilling102 Im on the carb train too but knock'n down any kind of decent gas mileage with a high HP application would never be possible without injection. There's nothing like being able to smoke nearly every production vehicle on the market and not have to stop and fill up again afterwards.
