  • Awesome! Who would dislike this video? This guy explains it perfectly and with the visual aid he supplied, I totally get it now... definitely the best tutorial on metering i found on youtube

  • appreciated

  • Forgive me but didn't you just tell me exactly what it says in the user manual anyway?

  • You can rip the audio-mp3 of this video at grabyourmp3s doht cohm.

  • Tanx

  • wow, no explanation on when to use each mode.

  • @nyer82 exactely, what's the point of explaining metering modes when you don't give any concrete examples...

  • I'm not buying the dvd. If there are 4 totally different metering modes why then should i use mostly evaluative?

You could show in which cases and why we should uses the specific metering mode

  • @sixties00 because its the common type of pictures.

  • Ya he doesn't say why and in which situations should I use the other metering mode because the results seems to be worse almost all the time I use something other than "Evaluative".

  • @KriegsMaschine No, he doesn't. But if you want say a face properly exposed with a bright background go for the centre setting, and the face will be exposed properly.

  • @sixties00

it's not though that's the thing, evaluative's good for a quick shot. but realistically you should use spot metering so you know what part of your image requires what exposure.

  • In Manual Mode all the exposure data are defined by the user, therefore setting any particular metering parameters is irrelevant/won't have effect? Or do I err?

  • Hi LEO.... I SEE ITS POSTED A MONTH AGO BUT I OLY READ YOUR QUESTION JUST NOW AND I WAS WONDERING THE SAME ..MAY I ASK WHAT IS THE ANSWER

  • Dear FrameThis, I'd like to be of help, but have not received an answer to my enquiries (my conjecture is neither substantiated nor disproved), nor do I expect to. The matter still remains a Terra Incognita for me. Very, very baffling

Although not immediately relevant, there are equally obscure questions regarding flash sync issue, as well, my years of photography experience have failed to clear. And Canon doesn't appear willing in the least to dispel uncertainty bestowed on the user.

  • you still use the camera metering to determine the settings.

  • Thanks

  • God, I have been using spot metering all the time and wondering why sometimes my exposure are off. I'm now liberated. Thanks.

  • thaaanks

  • nice one

  • thanks
