I had the same problem ( one side bigger than the other) I just wrapped my string and moved it till it was better then when I put my center on I made if a little off center so it looked even
OK... I don't have the time for crafts like I used to, but when the kids were younger I was the queen, but I never knew the trick to heat seal the ribbon... and it was so obvious. I should have known that. Thanks for the tip!

@QueenofBlackRoses it's just a bbq lighter, or a it's also known as a grill lighter. found at wal-mart, hardware store, etc.
super easy to use and last a long time.
