well i think u made about half that stuff up. but as a cello player i know that violins, violias, cellos, basses and some others lack frets meaning a slide is required occasianly and a finger may land a few centimeters from its mark causing sharpness or flatness.

No professional violin player has such appalling technique that they ever land " a few centimetres" off and hit a full semitone out every single time they go for a particular note.
