  • i found a 3hp briggs and stratton found it in a barn set for years the motor was have buried in the ground im going to rebuild it

  • Dave, that air filter is an oil bath air filter. The bottom of it is supposed to have oil in it. The inner mesh part is missing.

  • that is a 1950`s briggs and stratton i can tell by the carb and the gas tank. i have a link to a video of the same exact engine in running order if you would like to see it.

  • scottish?

  • @gokartbuyer I'm scottish alright ;)

how can i see that vid your talking about? I thought it was 1969, but I can't find the serial number so wasn't 100%.

    Cheers, Dave

  • Maybe its the dolphin point connected to the donkey valve, just change the floor mats and it will work!!!

  • Great vid man!

The thing that looks like an adjustment screw is acctually the choke lever. The tube that goes from under the airfilter is the crankcase breather.

These older Briggs engines have point ignition and often they don't have spark after sitting outside for some time, if it doesnt have spark you probably have to clean the points wich are below the flywheel (flywheel can be hard to take of)
