I think it's a wonderful idea, sometimes you just don't have the energy commuting to commit to no brakes, and you may not have the money to have a seperate bike for tricks. The brake on the top tube lets you compromise.
Its still useless for tricks, cant spin the wheel, the cable is still up front... Move the brake to the rear and he might be onto something but rear brakes on a fixed and he would loose all his "street cred."
@xOCPx you lock your legs in place so the rear wheel locks and you skid stop. You can swing the tail to bring your tail horizontal so you stop your forward motion more quickly.

but... when experienced fixed gear riders watch a video like this and see a bunch or riders with risers and brake doing little wheelies for a second and actually using their brake, it displays a lack of experience.
despite that, the video is incredibly well made. great quality as well
