Don't know about politicians though. Kevin O'Higgins should be a legend among men but instead no-one remembers him. Treaty of Westminster-secured ability of commonwealth countries to repeal British statutes and refuse to implement them. Meant DeValera could create the republic for which the IRA had fought. Also allowed Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc to set up new republics when they wanted to.
