love your stuff, but this is a lame review, specially being me a huge Sabbath entusiasta. I agree with you 50/50 on some stuff, but there something I want to make clear. The band COVEN was way before Black Sabbath and it was absolutely EVIL. They even performed a black mass in their first album, and even though it´s not considered a metal album, it brought up the themes, looks, evilness and atmosphere that Sabbath would later master. So just to let you know, sabbath where not the first!
Man you should review all the Sabbath albums with Ozzy. That would take you to Never Say Die. Sabotage will always be a personal favorite but this one was the first, the creepy cover, the doom of 'Black Sabbath'- takes me back to being a kid, getting stoned in my parents basement and blasting this shit!
Cool review, but I was hoping it would be longer :P I mean, for something they created in only 2 days, this album has some amazing powerful riffs and lyrics. Black Sabbath and N.I.B. are incredible in the riff department. And how can you not enjoy N.I.B. which is basically the story of the devil falling in love...freaking brilliant! The Wizards very bluesy style mixed in with the very early sounding style of heavy metal riffs is brilliant as well. I was hoping you talk a little more about that.
For me, this is the order I would rank Sabbath's Best 10 albums from their career. Remember 1-3 are essentially tied with all the following albums being pretty damn close together. 1.Master of Reality 2.Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 3.Heaven & Hell 4.Vol 4 5.Paranoid 6.S/T 7.Mob Rules 8.Sabotage 9.Dehuminizer 10.Never Say Die! Killer review. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the reviews, especially the reviews of my favorite Sabbath albums.
Master of Reality, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell are my favorite Sabbath albums. Its impossible for me to pick a favorite out of those three. Hell, it was already difficult enough just to pick those 3 albums as my favorite because lets face it, the s/t through Sabotage are classic albums. Master of Reality IMO is the heaviest Sabbath album, Vol 4 is pretty heavy as well, but MoR was Sabbath as their peak (heavy-wise).
very good blues stuff, when i listen to it its great, wicked world is great!
