"not as good as they think they are?" how do you know how good they think they are? Personally i think this is pretty decent. It isn't "jerky" and the connection isn't bad although it exists only through the arms.
If you can take a tip and you want to look really smooth then I'd advise spending some time in a dance form that teaches core leads - argentine tango is a good example. Learn to lead the girl from your core, through the arms and it will be an even better spectacle.
i think it is good. it goes well with the music which is the point of a style class anyway, improving what u already know with music interpretation. they meet the stops really well and look good :)
Sorry, but I don't think they are as good as they think they are, it's all quite eratic. It's not as fluid and sexy as it ought to be. These two don't seem very connected at all. Is this a showcase or just some bog standard moves? A little less aggression would help!
The timing and smoothness are better on the original. The video encoding/decoding used by YouTube tends to get quit jerky when there is a lot of movement.
Never seen this style of dance before. Looks alright, and I mean no disrepect at all, but its looks a bit like "broken" west coast swing. Still kinda cool.
Yes - The routine was coreographed for a workshop - and this is Richards regular partner. On the other hand this is all freestyleable - and if you go to the weekends away you will find a lot of people dancing to this standard in the blues rooms. One point of the workshop is that in blues there are a set of signals for breaks and blocks. These pass the control over to your partner to do something special.
I second that! I did the style II workshop and it's not just the routines but the principles behind them. It perked up my dancing alot and got me out of the robotic move after move I had been doing! Worth going along!
Thats was awesome makes me wanna dust my dance shoes off keep up the great work and posting!! :)

It's so much easier dancing with a girl like this that knows when to wiggle it without be constanly lead

Doesn't really look to me like they are enjoying it. It's supposed to be fun.

So I have 9/19 beginner Ceroc moves down... Hmmm only A LOT more to go till I get to that stage! (I only hope to be that smooth:) Great job! Awesome!

Don't worry. That's looks like a coreographed routine. You would struggle to do that freestyle. Shows what can be done with a regular partner!
