I used to love playing this game on the SNES back in the day. It's a pity that they've didn't continue the franchise on for a third game.

Eyedol was a pain in the ass to beat. There was a cheat where you could play as him by choosing Cinder. (Eyedol's ending was a ripoff of Blanka's ending from Street Fighter II but with a funny twist.) Oh, and that great music too.

Yeah, Graeme Norgate makes some of the best VG music I've ever heard in my life. The guy even did music for three of my all time favorite FPS games, which was Goldeneye 64, Perfect Dark 64, and TimeSplitters 2. I haven't played much of KI though, but I want to pick up KI Gold for my N64 sometime.

@nintendoboy17 I own KI Gold, gameplay wise it's fun and pretty intense. They actually focus well on the action. But they kicked out Cinder, Thunder, Riptor, and Eyedol. Sadly :(

@NintendmanMidget It's a little complicated at first, but it becomes easier later on. Basically, each character has a combo starter (i.e. Glacius' cold shoulder [Hold Back, Forward, any punch]) which is then followed by an autodouble (again, Glacuis, follow Shoulder with fierce punch) and you can either use an ender or continue the combo. The best thing to do is mess around with your character for a bit or look up a guide. There's tons of them and they're REALLY usefull.

a 10? really? maybe an 8 at most. Theres a few things they coulda done to make it a bit more arcade like: use mode 7 to render the rooftop stages, i woulda rather had shrunk + compressed VS movies instead of a still pictures, instead of echoing "ultra" they shoulda added the "commmbooo" after. I finally have the arcade version emulated after fifty million years of searching for the rom, even in 6th grade when this came out I was underwelmed. By itself it's good, but after the arcade, cmon!

SNES was never the "playstation" the SNES uses sony chips inside it, after the SNES was made Nin. and Sony were co-developing a console, Sony wanted CDs Nintendo didn't so Nin. made the N64 while Sony made the Playstation.

Excellent game! You mentioned at the beginning of your review that this was the only home version of the 1st KI. It was also released for the original gameboy. Obviously due to hardware limitations the presentation was not as strong as the Arcade and SNES versions, however the gameplay is strong and as far as gameboy games go the graphics and music are top notch. One of the best fighters for the original gameboy IMO. I love your reviews, keep up the good work!
