  • I wish the video quality was a bit better. It's really hard to see hand movement, and other little details.

What passes for tai chi chuan these days, is terrible. I have seen such limp, could never be considered a martial art, displays of I could not put words to how bad they are. Look at any Chen family videos, and Master Yang Jun here. You'll see form. Posture, and real martial power. "Loose" taken too far, has no form. How on earth would your eyes leading have any influence on chi flowing?

  • @ellisonjay How do YOU tell when you see "real martial power" in a solo form like this? Just curious -cause we seem to see different things. No disrespect to Master Yang here, he's older now, and probably much better. Just feel we should try to look beyond family names and lineage, to see what skills are really on display.

  • @piaten By no means am I discussing only names. I guess when you go try to learn a martial art, you see your own limitations better. Then you can truly see where others have greater skill, and power. I just watched an amazing noname video on Chen cannon fist. Once you get a feel for that you can see the under stated quality in Yang lao shur. To be specific look for the stomps, and other movements in Chen forms. Then watch those same movements when Yang lao shur does them.

  • @ellisonjay Thanx for your perspective. I too love Chen pao chui, though they too are sometimes performed badly. But I dont see Yang's body mechanics resembling that any more so than any other yang taiji player.. What do you mean by "too loose"? Recall small frame players Cheng Man Ching and Huang Sheng Shyan -two of the best fighters and martial artists of the 20th century. Would you characterize their taiji as limp and terrible too?

  • @piaten I know we're not discussing names here, I hesitate to comment on the performance of any master. Let's say I'm not at the point where I'm capable of commenting intelligently. There are layers of awareness that you develop. I am far enough to see some layers, not far enough in my own opinion to discuss master level martial art of any sort. As far as loose, you hold a certain "force" in all of your movements, you can see this very obviously in some Chen players. Then look at Yang lao shur.

  • The eyes follow the line of the hands for the target, to reflect the martial nature and true roots of Tai Chi. Health benefits come automatically with the true form. In addition the Wushu variants of the Yang all take root from this Long Form.

  • He is not leading with the eyes, so the chi is not really flowing as is should.

  • i feel the application much more stronger in this 103 form. especially the weight transfer in moves. credit to Master Jung

  • This guy looks a bit stiff to me. What do you think guys?

  • Where can we buy a DVD containing this and other related forms?

  • Excellent form. Probablly the best display of relaxation and posture I have ever seen in the Yang form. I would love Yang Jun to do a freestyle form with more of his own interpretation and style added to it some day. Peace

  • Is this from the Yang Family demonstration DVD or from the Instruction DVD? I want to order the 190 minutes instruction DVD... is it good?

  • wonderful clip that can share to everyone tks
