The biggest mistake Capcom made with Robot Y is allowing him to go down from jump kick. If you take that ability away from any of the characters, he would be far more challenging.
@streeterville773 how come sega is the only one doing shit like this but when you have other fan games out there like for example double dragon extreme.how come technos don't stop the download link or even the BOR mods when they do a final fight fan game and capcom don't get involved.sega is the only group of dicks pulling bitch shit...fuck sega
@streeterville773 i heard what sega did.sega are some fags i swear.it's not like their gonna do another streets of rage anytime in the future.i downloaded mines when bombergames 1st released it..it's only a fan game..whats sega's problem anyway?
I beat Streets of Rage 3 on the genesis back in the day. In order to win, I played single player on Normal, and once I ran out of lives as Player 1, I pressed Start on my Player 2 controller - and kept the game going until the end. Damn hard game, but I loved every second of it.
In the American version, this is the HARDEST boss I have EVER seen. I have attempted to beat him numerous times on normal mode "Since you can't beat the game on easy" and the FRICKING time limit is FAR too strict! I can't even take out half his health before the time is up! it's impossible!
Awesome video. Where'd you get the japanaese version. I ask because I am eager o play as the infamous ash. Plus the character color pallets on this version are superior to the american counterpart.
I played through all three streets of rage games as a kid with one of my friends and I have to say SoR3 was my favorite. The only reasons for this was that It had multiple endings and Shiva was a playable character. My only complaint was that it was way hard in the later levels especially if you were going for the good ending. After playing through it again on an emulator I can't believe we actually got to Neo X let alone beat him.
I just finished SOR3 over the holiday break. I wasn't a fan. The game loses its fun factor after level 3 and it became a marathon getting through the entire game. I had to finish it though since I was a big fan of 1 and 2 for the sega! (also when I got to Robot Y on normal mode he had X4 life bars . . . why's it only X2.2 here?)
I've noticed I've been getting a lot of off comments from people about the version I'm playing. Its the Japanese version, and it is indeed, MUCH easier than SOR3, which I've also played and beaten, and its indeed hard.
However, your comment basically describes why I prefer the Japanese version. SOR3 is hard to the point that its not only a challenge (which is normally fine) but its also more of a chore. I personally didn't enjoy it.
@ChoujinStrife Unfortunately, that was because of the rental market. There is no rental market in Japan so they had no reason to make things overly difficult. In the US, many imported games were made more difficult so they can't be blown through in a weekend after renting it. (After all, some, if not most, people wouldn't buy a game after they have already have beaten it.)
Thanks to the Internet though, we can play these games on their true original difficulty.
Having to fight my way through average level designs, with off, beeping, loud and rough music got old really quickly. With Bare Knuckle 3, I can get a little bit of a challenge, while enjoying the levels enough, before they overstay their welcome.
I also prefer the classic color schemes for the characters more, and I get to experience everything in the game. (Ash boss fight, "Blitz" attack upgrades, uncensored enemies, and such)
I realized the strategy I use for this boss won't work on SOR3, and essentially, I didn't mean for this to be seen as a strategy video, just a video to show the boss, for anyone who was curious. I do also understand that the description of the video may be a bit misleading, so my apologies there.
I guess thats all I can say, I didn't mean this as an attack, and I apologize again if it may have come out like one.
Your comment just sparked what I feel about the game, in particular SOR3.
@phoenixicarus cause this is the japanese version(bk3) of the game though it was more well done and had extra stuff then sor3 it was much easier, hard mode sor3 is litterally almost impossible to finish, its rather strange cause the bk3 has very hard mode which is the max difficulty setting u can put it on and hard mode is the max difficulty setting on sor3 and yet the hard mode on sor3 is like 8000 times harder than very hard bk3.
I just beaten streets of rage 3 normal mode yesterday. That shit was not easy and i used a crap load of savestates on my emulator. Comparing with bare knuckle 3 is a joke.
When they made the US version, they gave this boss 7 lives in Hard but kept the time limit the same. If you try to do that "keep flying-kicking the boss as it charges at you" routine, then Zan and Axel's flying attacks don't lose it enough energy to kill it in time. Sega of America didn't even think it through properly, probably never even play-tested the US version.
Honestly why would you NOT want to put your brain inside a futuristic container to control this wonder? I mean.. it hovers slightly above the ground, and IT SPINS!!!!!!!
I mean, how could this rule any more? IT FUCKING SPINS LIKE CRAZY! And since your brain is safely contained inside some liquid barrel from A.D 4300 or something you never get dizzy! It also has other great powers like um... well... anyway IT SPINS! But do not take my word for it! Get your brains removed TODAY!
The SNES was vastly superior technologically over the Genesis; even with its late 80's technology though, the way developers pushed the limits of that machine was just amazing.
I always thought Nintendo's tactics were extremely cowardly; waiting to see what rivals would come up with, copying the technology, upgrading it and then marketing it as "better." They tried it with Sony, but the Playstation buried them thank god. Its amazing how much graphics SEGA squeezed out of that thing (the Genesis).
...and Very Hard mode in BK3 was compared to SOR3's Normal....good Lord. Can't tell you how many times I get owned trying to finish on hard mode in SOR3
is this BK3 version or SOR3 version? i just beat the game on normal and my last boss had 4 life bars instead of 3 and i was on normal... (i have SOR3 version)

I guess this is pretty much the ultimate battle in the BK series. I have never played this game before and I am also still waiting for the Wii Virtual Console release along with other titles, which means I will be getting the messed up version of the game.
Streets of Rage 3 is listed as an upcoming title for the Virtual Console. However, the game is currently heading for Europe and Australia at this moment.
Thank you for your comment about the upcoming release, I hope SOA will change this game back to it's original way with the difficulty being normal, no altered character colors, and the intro being fully intact like the JP version.
Basically, Sega needs to bring a properly translated Japanese version; just translate the story text but leave everything else alone. You know in the US game, Axel wore Adam's colors (yellow & black) and why anyone did not notice or mention it?
I can understand your meaning of the game, and yes (as I forgot to mention) Sega does indeed need to make a proper translation to from the Japanese version so that the story can be more reliable, however I did not know what you meant by saying why did anyone not notice about the color change, while I am aware of it I was hoping Sega would fix that issue also for the VC release because I am sure they are capable of doing it. :)
Yep, just as I said on my last response I am fully aware of the alternate color/outfit changes, Axel wore Adams yellow and black instead of his normal ones, Blaze wore white instead of red, and Skate's I believe was blue and red over yellow and white I think...
The biggest mistake Capcom made with Robot Y is allowing him to go down from jump kick. If you take that ability away from any of the characters, he would be far more challenging.

Remember Adam from the first SOR? He wore yellow and black.

Yep, just as I said on my last response I am fully aware of the alternate color/outfit changes, Axel wore Adams yellow and black instead of his normal ones, Blaze wore white instead of red, and Skate's I believe was blue and red over yellow and white I think...

Streets of Rage 3 has hit the US region of the Virtual Console, despite Europe awaiting for the game.

Well, from the looks of the it game does not seem to be the fixed version on the VC, instead sega decided to release the unfavorable one.

They just had to go by the rules of the region: VC games faithful to their original versions. What a crock!

Ok, so it's not a crock and I'll accept SOR3 as it is on Virtual Console...
