  • Bring him back,God!We weren't ready to lose him!

  • Im back. I know theres lots of guitar players out there that can do this and that but i hear so much more in this. The little nuances here and there. Theres only one SRV!

  • Groovy riffs. Love this! Always loved SRV from first time i heard about him.

  • Hammer FUNK!!!!!!!!!!

    Gibs leider nisch mer so...

  • Always surprised he doesn't just lift off the damn ground.

  • @BluesCat1980 Generic comment. Of course, there wouldn't be any of those guys you listed if it wasn't for many before them. And so on and so forth. BTW, Stevie Ray's name is "VaughAn", and Hendrix is more popular as "Jimi"

  • My dad was the drummer for the W.C. Clark band. W.C.Clark decided to drive drunk and that decision took my father away from me. RIP PEDRO ALCOSER. I love you dad. I miss you

  • Stevie, to me was the Magic Johnson of guitar players... He was basically better than everyone else and schooled people while smiling at them. SRV was my favorite guitarist of all time. Miss ya man!!!

  • would people quit being so damn violent towards the helicopter pilot????? it was the helicopter companys fault they assigned a pilot that wasnt suppose to fly in those conditions im sure the pilot didnt want to die either...

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking helicopter pilot... Damn your soul!

  • why werent i born when boues rulesd the world??????? WHY GOD WHY

  • @bigbendit u said it man. my dad met the band, but not stevie. so my dad gets to see him live 3 times and i only see him on computer. wow.

  • WHO ARE THESE NO TALENT BUMS?

THEY NEED A MANDOLIN AND A BANJO - HELL, ANYBODY COULD PLAY THAT SHIT!

    O_o

    ROFL!

GOD BLESS FELLOWS LIKE THIS LOVE YA W. C., MISS YA STEVIE!

  • Bet you people out there can't do what Stevie Ray is doing on Playstation.

  • Saw SRV 9 times. Yes I am getting old. That being said, I still get goosebumps listening to the man play. If I had one wish, it would be to have Stevie back.

  • Do you think those ppl that night knew how lucky they were to see SRV live??

    SO JEALOUS!

  • Best ever , dam we need me good funk rock and rock

  • BB King and Eric Clapton both said that they always miss beats but SRV never did.

SRV had melody in his music unlike most of Jimmy Hendrix songs. SRV is the best.

  • cool groove...>;o)

  • Never knew this performance existed from Austin City Limits. Thank you for posting.

  • This needs to be released on CD finally

  • AS FOR THE THREE DISLIKES ,YOU NEED TO START GETTING OUT MORE.

  • funky.

    Aguante el rock and blues!

  • Does not miss a note........"eric clapton"

  • SRV is proof there is a god, and god loves the blues

  • Grunge was shit apart from a few albums, just another trend, the blues lives forever!

  • 2:56 = best lick ever

  • alucinante

    saludos desde buenos aires

  • the famous VHS of SRV and Albert King has been released on DVD!!!! just thought i would give it a shout out

  • wow, and imagine SRV and Flea

  • @hemet92544

That's yet another perfect example of why it sucks so much that he died. I think about all those amazing grunge and alt rock bands that SRV would have collaborated with. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains (Jerry Cantrell is an unbelievably good guitarist), and Nirvana too. I consider the grunge era the greatest era of American music (the 60's and 70's had a lot of Brits, grunge was all-American) and I think SRV would have blended in so well with this great new era of music.

  • @cavalrytm Personally I couldn't see SRV playing with Nirvana. Pearl Jam yes but not Nirvana.

  • i'm crying

  • Could it EVER get any better than this???? Absolutely NOT! No one comes close to

Stevie! Simply the very, very best of the best

  • Jeez how long is the neck on WC's bass?!!!

  • Comment removed

  • two friends just havin fun ...

  • Thats funny smiling stuff amazing........, so great , so good for the soul and heart, thank you Stevie and Friends so much , endless......

  • I like how SRV is humble enough to share the splotlight. He doesn't mind playing rhythm while W.C. does his thing.

  • This is total quality SRV is a guitar god and it still gives me goose bumps when i listen to it!!!! RIP

  • Apparently, three people surfing youtube were deaf to the feeling. Period.

  • ops... bad start for WC Clarck ! They miss the tonality :D

  • @terzolilu yep... he was like 1/2 step off sounding to me.

I was wondering how many people heard this.

  • SRV is totally irreplaceable. There will never be anyone like him ever again. When he died the blues died with him.

  • @crackernazi..the blues didn't die with him. just ask buddy guy

  • I saw SRV and WC Clark at Antones in Austin Tx,,mid 1980's,,I met and spoke with both,,WC played in SA on Starcrest Dr in 1986,,where I used to go see,he told me he was a former auto repairman,,bass player on the side,,learned blues on guitar and gave SRV some lick instructions on guitar blues,,WC is awesome on guitar, plays bad ass blues,,he remembers me when I used to tell him to make his axe "Talk".."Make it Talk, WC"..he even made a song about this.

Hip hop is an art, but it isn't music.

  • I loved SRV music so much and respected the man so much that I named my son Vaughan. Man, he was awesome.

  • BEST EVER .....period. SRV I LOVE YOU MAN

  • wow what a treat...

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, and to believe all that was impromptu! No wonder why I love Stevie Ray!!!

  • To borrow from the latest Charlie Daniels commercial " And Thats How Its Done Son"

  • @thatguyfromImpanema LOL perfect quote!

  • Just watching both of these greats gives me goosebumps! God Bless Stevie Ray,

the absolute best of the best!

  • This is brilliant. Great clip. Sad they're both gone too soon.

  • @pupjack69 I might be missing something... I don't think W.C. Clark is gone.

  • the best ever hands down ill fight you if you say different (RIP Stevie)

  • omg

  • the bass backs the guitar really good up, really low and a lot of soulsville in it

  • the bass backs the guitar really good up, really low and a lot of soulsville in it

  • man you can see they were having fun

  • my legs are outta control. yeaaaaah !!!!

  • Music is the real way of speaking. Everything else is just filling in time between gigs.

The sign of good players is there ability to constantly evolve with fresh ideas. Demonstrated here . (You simply don't want them to stop) Brilliant, all of them.

  • El mejor guitarrista para mi gusto. la técnica al servicio del sentimiento. el más completo. si yo tocase el 0,000001% de lo que tocaba este hombre, estaría satisfecho.

  • ahh man, what a solid jam... never gets old

  • great as always srv wc clark

    is it live in AUSTIN,TX?

  • mindblowing, awesome!

  • man that whole thing blew my mind!

I can't get enough of the close ups on Stevie's fingers. no mater what video I love it!

  • Does anybody know what Stevie is using for an amp in this video? It almost sounds like he has a leslie effect running? Great jam!!

  • Anyone has seen the song after this one on Austin City Limits? I think it's call ''Why don't you love me baby'' and it's WC Clark playing it .. Love this song but can't get my hands on it ... Anyone can help?

  • @cdnrover

I believe this was a W.C Clark special on Austin City Limits. In saw the whole thing on PBS. Fantastic! Hope this helps,

  • AMAZING

  • Would 2nd "Heart of Gold" and also suggest "From Austin With Soul." W.C. is not only a fine guitar player but a tremendous singer ala Al Green.

  • hmmm, i dnt think hes using his own gear here (amp), still sounds amazing. Cos this is W.C. Clark set. SRV could make any guitar cry :)

  • I think most of it should be his usual choice...Strat is his beloved No. 1, i see a tubescreamer and a Fender amp. All he needed to create his magic.

  • omg sooooooooooooo AWESOME *-*

  • it's amazing how you'll never see SRV not rock lol, this is just so awesome! thanks for posting this, faved definitely. 5*

  • wc clark is a austin tx blues musician who played with the late SRV and lou barton in a group called triple threat though wc played bass in triple threat he is really a guitar player in his own right.this video was apart of a salute to wc shot at austin city limits back in 1990 this song is an old number from the triple threat days called A LITTLE THING the best album to find by wc is one called HEART OF Gold...hope this helps.......

  • I cant find any information on this W.C. Clark bass player can anyone help?

  • damb that was nice.

  • Also although I can disagree with folks here, I'm not into name-calling and trying to be as nasty as I can. It is possible to disagree with people and keep it respectful. That's the problem with cyberspace/internet technology: it's totally anonymous and people can be nasty and ignorant precisely because they're hidden. I hope we can try and raise the bar a little on discussions and keep it friendly and repectful.

  • I hear you. I guess I'm guilty of painting all rap/hip hop with the same brush. I do find though that almost all the rap that I hear blasting from car stereos is totally amusical: lots of screaming, swearing (bitches, ho's, motherf**kers, etc), glorifying of drugs and violence, etc. It just blows my mind that kids are actually listening to that stuff and taking the message in. Actually it scares me. It's like musical ability doesn't matter at all, and I find that very sad....

  • that's because the rap you hear blasting for car stereos is awfully bad. you should check some rappers who actually talks about real problems and know who to use a pen correctly. ;)

  • any recommendations?

  • too right man. when music isnt about the sound, its terrible. even when its trying to promote an idea of righteousness, human beings go off track and lose the whole point of music.

it should just be no drugs, no politics, no bitches n hoes, no revolutionary ideals, no bullshit above all. just music!

  • lol comparing Hendrix/Stevie to Fifty cent

    wat a joke

i mean really unclegusyo, sure u can dance to all ur stuff, but to be a musician like any of those guys that paleblue498 mentioned, it takes years of practice and refinement

to do wat ur 'musical heroes' do, u've just got to find a way to say bitch numerous times in one minute.

kinda bullshit that u compare the two, don't you agree?

  • Comment removed

  • I hope rap and hip hop fans get a chance to see this and discover what people with real musical ability and talent can do...

  • and I hope rockist scrubs like you open your damn mind and quit deriding music you know NOTHING about.

  • Sorry if I insulted your heroes, but I have a problem with folks with zero musical ability winning grammys. I come from an era when musical exellence was king and recording artists had to have real musical ability...people like Hendrix, Clapton, Johnny Winter, Alvin Lee, Robin Trower etc...etc. folks you've probably never heard of. Check them out, you'll be amazed at what real talented musicians can do.

  • ...The Grammys? Seriously? That's your argument? The Grammy committee are so out of touch it's unreal. Kenny fucking G has a Grammy.

Anyway I can honestly say I've spent countless hours listening to those guys, don't believe me? Why was I watching a Stevie Ray Vaughan video? Can you say you've ever even listened to one full hip hop album? Do you even know what hip hop IS? Stop insulting people more talented than you who's music you don't understand. Condescending scrub.

  • If you're not including rap in that tirade, I'll condescend to listen to an entire hip hop cd (it'll be extremely tough mind you) and give you my unvarnished, honest opinion. Any suggestions? ...and by the way, what's a scrub?

  • Comment removed

  • 'Endtroducing'.....is DJ Shadow, dog not Preemo......so are you now also a scrub;-)??

  • hahahaha woops, dunno what happened there

  • Btw nice job looking back at your 'era of musical excellence' with rose coloured glasses and forgetting about all the shit music dominating the charts back then. I eagerly await your unintelligible and ignorant response. ^_^

  • @paleblue498 first off, i love srv, and blues music in general. that being said, not ALL rap music/ hip hop music is devoid of all musical talent; however, quite a lot of it is. take, for example, "Liquid Swords" by GZA. it is indubitably a masterpiece

  • @paleblue498 I agree with that too a certain extent. I believe much of the old hip hop had talent but the new hip hop is definitely lacking !

  • @JG129 Jay-z is where it's at when it comes to upper echelon rappers with eclectic tastes. He had John Mayer come out to his show at MSG to play a song and give him a solo, HOV was feelin it.... many other artists can't match it

  • @paleblue498

especially black people cause they forgot there roots

  • @paleblue498 right,if these people had the patience just to listen they would apreciate the good stuff in front of them and just stop paying attention to all these hip hop,rap ,pop and all these shit they listen to!!!!!

  • @paleblue498 This is definitely one of my favorite performances from Stevie. He was and is the biggest influence in my playing. You just can't ignore the fun their having playing this song. That's what blows me away.

  • @paleblue498 I love both Blues and Hip Hop. While I must admit that Hip Hop is suffering in the present day (Lil' Wayne anybody?), I'm afraid I must contend that Hip Hop up to and including (most of) the 90's boasted a lot of musical ability and talent. I wish everyone could try to appreciate all music even if it's not their cup of tea...

  • @paleblue498 well said

  • @paleblue498 ^5 paleblue.well said

  • First time that I saw W.C. Clark was with John Lee Hooker at the Third Coast in Austin, Texas in 1981. Hooker played Bumble Bee and T. B. Sheets. I was sold on the Blues from then on! The room was smoke filled with the Blues!

  • does anybody kno what key this jam is in?? is it Bb??

  • @StratGib35: almost, it's B.

  • it's clips like this that are inspiring...truly...SRV and Jimi will always be the best as far as I'm concerned....playing from the heart, playing from the soul...just surrendering to the music and the moment and going for the ride...this is where other so-called guitar virtuosos can learn something important...another thing about SRV...just a man and his guitar (an impossible one to play by us mortals at that), his amp, and few effect pedals, (tube screamer & wah?), and he creates magic

  • 2:49 kicks it into high gear!

  • best guitarist ever in my mind...he also has to e the most solid live performance ever, i have never seen him miss a note

  • @JRaab311: check out roy buchanan, he's also amazing.

  • very nice..the man was born blessed with blazin skillz...nuff sed :)

  • Ah!....Austin Citiy Limits...what a great show that was with SRV....

  • We are not worthy.

  • supeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC

  • Wow!!!!!!! A song fit for a SRV album!!! Never heard before!!!! Thanks a Million !!! Do you know what year this is from? SRV considered WC Clark one of his major blues heroes. Paid tribute to him in a concert in 1990 on Austin City Limits but this looks like it might be from an earlier period in SRV's (way too short) carreer. But this is a nice surprise for me to see knowing 95 percent of all of his music (alloting 5 % for "lost " gems like this one out there).

  • The last minute of this literally brings tears to my eyes. SRV R.I.P.

  • I really enjoy this tune. But i can't see how this bring tears to your eyes?

  • Then you don't get the same feeling I get from it.

  • Live and Burning at Austin City Limits.

  • I remember watching this on Austin City Limits when it first came on. W.C. Clark was, and probably still is, a damn fine singer and musician in his own right. Not as good as Stevie on the guitar but then how many people can lay claim to that? I remember W. C. had some more guests on this show and everybody came out at the end to do Take Me To The River. I'd love to see that video again.

  • As Clapton once said, "Every guitar player has to think where his solo is going next....except Stevie, he is an open channel to another dimension. It just flows out of him."

  • you damn skippy

  • maaan thats so awesome funky

    RIP Stevie

  • THANK YOU! Thanks for posting this, I didn't even know it existed, loved it!

I swear Stevie was black, nobody bothered to tell him!

    This was sooooo goood!

  • I commented on someone elses post of this song. I thnk this song is a freddy king song called "side tracked". If you want tabs of this try finding tabs of that song. It sounds like what SRV is playing here of course stevie adds his own stuff to it

  • U name it ?///Stevie can play anything he pleases>Jazz,Funk,Country etc n love of his life"The Blues"

  • SRV made it look to damn easy.

    thanks for the upload.

  • awesome

  • my favorite srv clip....two guys jamming just having fun. great stuff. think this was taped in 1990. hard to believe its been that long ago.

  • always good to see him play stuff he wasnt famous for, good stuff..

  • lol WC washroom

  • wish i knew the chord sequence at the start.

  • @andrewbaltzer

That's the funniest comment i ever heard LOL very hard

  • does anybody know what year this took place in?

  • looks like austin,tx

  • un regret, c est de n avoir jamais eu la chance de voir steevie sur scène, tout simplement énorme!

  • What a friggin' waste. This man redefined the blues. Taken away far too early. God bless always.

  • saw W.C.last night at Central Market.awesome!

  • Anybody know what this is called? It is a 'jam' but I'm certain they must have played this in the Triple Threat Revue or some other incarnation of Stevie and W.C. playing together in the past.I have often wondered what the source of the original tune is,whether they wrote it or what...

  • This is my all time favourite youtube music clip

  • isn't it crazy that all the greats have passed and alot went out via plane crash. tragic but these amazing human beings will live on forever through there music. thank god for that!

  • amazing stuff..............

  • I'm also diggin' W. C. Clark on bass. If you want some great soulful blues, check out Clark's several CDs on which he sings and plays guitar.

  • nice comment...matter of fact I listened to two of his albums this weekend while completly destroying some chicken on my grill...turned out ok cause we had other food and hamburger.....lol hes a great player indeed....

  • UNREAL! Now that's some guitar playin kids....

  • Man theres nothing like the feeling when your Jamin and your feeling it, then your bandmates look at you with that glance and smile, in like an aproval of how much there feeling you, and how much your feeling them... im talking specificaly of that look they gave each other in 2:39

I mean it touches your soul or something, you can feel it, it kinda makes you play better, you just get that burst of inspiration... i guess musicians would know what im talking about... great post

    THX

  • I know exactly what you mean. When you just start playing randomly together and somehow, there seems to be a connection between everyone playing an instrument.

It's almost like everyone is connected to to one another through the music..

Sometimes we can tell what the other person is going to do, before they do it, like they're about to do a certain riff of add in a drum roll. That's what always gets the smiles going between us when we start jamming.

    :)

  • Mistakes--

I didn't mean to put a second "to" in the 2nd paragraph

"do a certain riff OR add in a drum roll"

  • ...know exactly what you mean. I personally like the look W.C. gives Stevie at 02:58... as if he's taken aback saying, "shit nigga, you layin' it down" ...with all due respect of course.

  • The great ones play so effortlessly. God, what a gift Stevie Ray had. This is fuc***g ridiculous. What the hell, was he born with a guitar?

  • His playing is so god damn rythmic, Something a lot of lead guitarist could learn alot from IMHO.

  • His playing is beyond technique . . . He plays with passion, heart & style

  • Another gem from the Austin City Limits archives.

  • where was this played

  • Austin City Limits

  • GREAT one, thanks

  • Dayum that was good!

  • MANY THANKS !!! I have never seen this clip. Stevies beautiful play... His feelling , passion and sound are only One ... steel plaing in our hearts...

  • Man, I'd love to have access to the Austin City Limits archives.

  • This is a jam....superb command over the instrument....believe me, to play this well takes practice and some living...

  • is it just me or was that guys bass really long?

  • Can you imagine how much Stevie must've practiced? His guitar has character.

  • This video is Stevie freestyle just showing and playing for joy to the Lord, its a killer jam

  • Stevie I speak for many people here....

Your life was cut waaaay to short, and were loved by many.

The day you left.the world weeped in sorrow.

But not all is lost, because we know you are in heaven waiting for us. to once again bring life to so many lost souls without you.

    R.I.P.

    SRV

  • also hes up ther rocking out with JIMI HENDRIX so one of srv's bigest dreams came true right there

  • Just all of you guitar players keep playing! Stevie was comet, and a bright one too, but everybody's got something to give. Making music is not a competition - only YOU can do your thing!

  • a few years ago i saw WC Clark in a night club playing guitar with some piece of shitt peavey amp. I go up to him, "HEY WC, did U ever like or meet SRV" he just SMILED. GOt home, did some research, hmmm he actually was in a band with SRV. I feel do STUPID...

  • Thats halarious. I feel for ya.
