The recipe is good, you don't need the koolaid, you can use citric acid crystals instead (look by the canning supplies in the store).

what about the white film I have read about in other homemade dishwasher recipes? Any problems with that?

@gambrell104 We have well water with a higher than normal mineral content and haven't had any problems. The Lemi Shine is a rinse agent and helps prevent any spotting or streaking. The only problem we have had is that it lasts so long, that the powder start to cake up... so we have to "smack it" around a little.

you have your mix off on measurements. its one cup of boxax to one cup of supper washing soda to 1/2 cup of salt to 4 packs of cool aid. it takes 2 to 3 table spoons in machine.
