I think Letterman really liked Andy. I respect him for that. Even though he could be a tough guest to have on your show, and you never really know what to expect, Letterman repeatedly had him on. I like Letterman for that.

Letterman was one of the few people to support Andy's career when the rest of the showbiz world wouldn't touch him. This was toward the end of his life after the Fridays freakout, repeated movie bombs, "offensive" wrestling bit, et. cetera.
I personally dislike Letterman's style of comedy and public attitude, but he deserves props for having Andy on his show so often toward the end.
Pee Wee asked Andy for permission to revamp the concept for "Andy's Funhouse" into "Pee Wee's Playhouse." So in a sense, he's got Andy to thank for his career.
And as a result we are now stuck with the poor man's version of Andy's Funhouse.
Andy should've been the one to enjoy success with his own concept. Alas, not to be.
So many people get trampled by Letterman but so far I've seen only Jim Carrey and Andy Kaufman REALLY steal the show from him. They are both amazingly talented actors...damn.
Joaquin isn't even in the same league as Kaufman. With joaquin you know it's crap, with Kaufman it was new and pure genius. Long story short: Phoenix can't even rock a sweet stache.

Andy has become very overrated. His comedy, or so called art, was not cutting edge, and when people booed, it was because he ripped them off
So he wanted to be different, and wanted attention? So do a lot of people, but that does not make them talented. Man on the Moon was entertaining, but his actual life was not so much.

That's the thing though. I feel like on some level you don't find him boring. lol Because in watching the videos you must be searching for something you know is there... you just don't see it or get it quite yet. But you want to. Andy can definitely bring that out of people.

Letterman was one of the few people to support Andy's career when the rest of the showbiz world wouldn't touch him. This was toward the end of his life after the Fridays freakout, repeated movie bombs, "offensive" wrestling bit, et. cetera.
I personally dislike Letterman's style of comedy and public attitude, but he deserves props for having Andy on his show so often toward the end.

Pee Wee asked Andy for permission to revamp the concept for "Andy's Funhouse" into "Pee Wee's Playhouse." So in a sense, he's got Andy to thank for his career.
And as a result we are now stuck with the poor man's version of Andy's Funhouse.
Andy should've been the one to enjoy success with his own concept. Alas, not to be.

I love Letterman, I live somewhat near him actually. Many of my family have met him... so I can't diss the guy, I think he's cool.
