Robert Englund is awesome. Hands down will always be Freddy. But...of course common sense will tell everyone that Robert can't be Freddy forever and since it was always common sense that one day the role would be passed down to someone else, Jackie is a great great choice. He did a wonderful job. I loved it and i hope for a 2nd.

When I first heard that Nightmare on Elm Street was being remade without Robert Englund, to say I was disappointed would be a serious understatement. But then when I read it was going to be Jackie Earl Haley....I think it is the only name on the planet that could've re-instilled my confidence in the flick. I think he's perfect for the role and I am absolutely looking forward to this film.

With that said, Sam Bayer's terrible direction and that horrible script kept him from being a good Freddy. He was nowhere near as effective as Robert Englund. Judging from word of mouth and reviews...I'm not alone on that assumption.

The reason they chose not to have Englund make a cameo is because they feel it would confuse fans. Who might think it's in some way connected to the original films. Robert will always be Freddy, but its time for some new blood. If it wern't for remakes we'd be stuck with the old black and white Frankinstein, Dracula and Werewolf movies. To some Christopher Lee will always be Dracula But there have been better. Richard Roxburgh in Van Helsing for one. When they made Van Helsing, did anyone complain about them ruining a classic? I didn't hear any. The Elm st's will be to our kids and grandkids what these old movies are to our parents. Classics.

Judgeing from the nw trailer that was just released, Jackie is going to be amazing. I had faith in the guy, and he pulled through. Like that one guy said, he embodied Rorschach. I can't wait for this movie, Jackie is one of my favorite actors. I also like how they made it look like if Freddy was a real burn victim. And it worked. His glove, his voice, all just perfect. I honestly have no idea. All I figured was he didn't want to kill them until AFTER the parents killed him. The script really makes little sense; sense is thrown out the window for product placement and gore.
And you don't have to believe me, but, scouts honor, I have read it (and was let down by its simplicity in many parts). I also have the script for Shutter Island and had a copy of Inglourious Basterds well before it went into production.

The trailer did come at at Comic Con and Brad Fuller wanted to put trailer out for everyone to see but New Line was like its too early put it out its 9 months away so yeah but the producer did try put it out.

Well to be honest, All of Elvis' Songs were written, recorded, and performed by other people, all Elvis did was take their songs, slapped his name on it, and back then since Black and White Artists' had Race Specific Billboards, he got away with it back then, but it has been proven countless times that none of the songs performed by Elvis were Written or remotely originated by Elvis.

Robert Englund is awesome. Hands down will always be Freddy. But...of course common sense will tell everyone that Robert can't be Freddy forever and since it was always common sense that one day the role would be passed down to someone else, Jackie is a great great choice. He did a wonderful job. I loved it and i hope for a 2nd.

When I first heard that Nightmare on Elm Street was being remade without Robert Englund, to say I was disappointed would be a serious understatement. But then when I read it was going to be Jackie Earl Haley....I think it is the only name on the planet that could've re-instilled my confidence in the flick. I think he's perfect for the role and I am absolutely looking forward to this film.

@crypticsacrifice I have seen the film. I do think Jackie is a great actor (I would say brilliant. Al Pacino is brilliant. Jack Nicholson is brilliant) and I think he TRIED to do a great job. With that said, Sam Bayer's terrible direction and that horrible script kept him from being a good Freddy. He was nowhere near as effective as Robert Englund. Judging from word of mouth and reviews...I'm not alone on that assumption.

If I'm wrong, point it out to me and I'll gladly say I was. His version of Freddy was just like watching his 'Watchmen' performance again. The vocal delievery was almost identical.

eluded by the parents age who look 30ish and have no grey hair and the age of their children, now teens.thats why freddy waited and went after teens. no child is ever killed by freddy in any of the series when freddy becomes supernatural just like no one ever said beam us up scotty in star trek. its eluded and later changed in freddy vs. jason that the parents were teens given that all the victims of the parents are teenagers so freddy waited. why did he wait, because originaly it was eluded that they were teens when they murdered freddy and changed but nightmare series has serious writing issues as wes didnt want to make a sequel originaly and nancy dies at the end of the first. rob is awake in amandas scene stated when he confronts nancy in the bushes.

two other comments about englund not being a good actor,#1 phantom of the opera 1989 was a decent movie with him in it and the stephen king movie about the rats in the cotton mill that I cant remember graveyard shift was also a decent B movie. Nightmare was a low budget movie like halloween and most others. The only way they could top this is too keep the original music and make an x rated for voilence horror movie. we also have englund to thank for friend mark hammil playing luke skywalker.

The reason they chose not to have Englund make a cameo is because they feel it would confuse fans. Who might think it's in some way connected to the original films. Also, think about it, it would be like Kane Hodder having a cameo in the Friday 13th remake. Or Jamie Lee Curtis having a cameo in Rob Zombie's Halloween. Most fans would be scatching their heads in a vain atempt in understand whats going on "Its the same actor in the same film, but they're playing someone else, I dont get it?"

The reason they have Stan Lee make cameos in Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Hulk, etc is to pay tribute to the man who created those charractors not the people who played them in the original films. Robert will always be Freddy, but its time for some new blood. If it wern't for remakes we'd be stuck with the old black and white Frankinstein, Dracula and Werewolf movies. To some Christopher Lee will always be Dracula But there have been better. Richard Roxburgh in Van Helsing for one. When they made Van Helsing, did anyone complain about them ruining a classic? I didn't hear any. The Elm st's will be to our kids and grandkids what these old movies are to our parents. Classics.

All of which was shown in Freddy's dead - the final nightmare. He did say he took their children away from them cos they took his child away from him. But that he said that after he had already been killed. So it could be said that is the reason why he's killing their children now?

Also, where children are concerened, the worse is always thought. But what is thought to have happened is not allways what happened. There are always two sides to every story. And the original only ever showed one side, the parent's. So, the question "What if they were wrong"? gives us a whole new angle to look at. Judgeing from the nw trailer that was just released, Jackie is going to be amazing. I had faith in the guy, and he pulled through. Like that one guy said, he embodied Rorschach. I can't wait for this movie, Jackie is one of my favorite actors. I also like how they made it look like if Freddy was a real burn victim. And it worked. His glove, his voice, all just perfect. And I also like how Jackie put his own twist on Freddy, rather than just copying Robert. ROCK ON JACKIE! =)

Production companies lose money, effects houses and studios lose money, marketing firms lose money....its somewhat of a domino effect, so just because I didn't work on this film, whether it succeeds or not, does effect my jobs and potential jobs.

Well, like I said, don't believe me, but I swear on my parents lives, I have a copy of the script, I have read it and, even if I wasn't a big fan of the original films, I would still be let down by it because of instead of building up on what Wes Craven did, it builds down and quickly turns into another generic slasher film.
And for the record, scripts get leaked all the time long before production rolls. On IMDb, all you have to do is ask and you can get it.

I honestly have no idea. All I figured was he didn't want to kill them until AFTER the parents killed him. The script really makes little sense; sense is thrown out the window for product placement and gore.
And you don't have to believe me, but, scouts honor, I have read it (and was let down by its simplicity in many parts). I also have the script for Shutter Island and had a copy of Inglourious Basterds well before it went into production.

Samuel Bayer is also directing the remake and he made smells teen spirit music video and smashing pumpkins bullet had butterfly wings and blind mellon no rain all of those videos are amazing and Samuel Bayer is true artist his film style is raw and dark much like Wes Cravens. I suggest all of you should check Bullet Had Butterfly Wings music video out and Zombie by Cranberries because those some best music videos ever made!!!!!!!!!

It might be called an "original" if some group was trying to cash in on all the old fans. Which to me seems like what's going to happen here.
But I'd like to be optimistic with you. It just feels a bit like hoping for gravity to reverse itself, expecting a remake movie to be decent.

Well to be honest, All of Elvis' Songs were written, recorded, and performed by other people, all Elvis did was take their songs, slapped his name on it, and back then since Black and White Artists' had Race Specific Billboards, he got away with it back then, but it has been proven countless times that none of the songs performed by Elvis were Written or remotely originated by Elvis.

Seriously do the writers in hollywood just suck at their jobs that they have to take perfectly good movies and completely rewrite them. I won't judge to quickly because I did really like the whole rob zombie take on Halloween with the back story of Michael Myers and what not but still. But I will say that I totally disagree with the remake of the Predator. That is just one movie that nobody should be able to touch.

And 2012 and Alice have had teasers released. 2012 has 2 trailers released actually.

I didn't say you have to go to Comic Con to respect the film industry, but if you're gonna bitch about someone not filming it, then you should go there yourself. And the teasers for Alice and 2012 on the internet are not the same as the ones shown at Comic Con.

I don't have the money to go to Comic Con either, but just because one can't afford it doesn't mean you have to bash the guy.
The trailers you get at Comic Con, I feel, are a treat for the people who take the time out of their lives to come out and thank all the talents involved for doing what they do.
And don't be too sure that the Comic Con teaser won't get national distribution at a later date. I remember last year when the Comic-Con trailer for Watchmen popped up on iTunes.
