  • I applied for PLU music.

  • I loved singing this at the beginning of each year!

  • This song brings back great memories! I loved singing in the Choir of the West and still consider it one of the most important things I did in college. Huge love to my fellow Lutes, COW members, and the person who posted this. You made my evening!

  • you might disagree with someone else' comments but don't flag someone's comments as *spam* just because you disagree with them.

  • AMEN AMEN !!!

  • @thedagonjones actually paul was a strong follower of jesus i don't know what religion you are but your off or your religion is off cause im baptist and i've never in my life heard mess like that in my entire life

  • Wonderful! i really enjoyed this arrangement

  • Beautifully sung!!! This is my favorite arrangement if this piece. Enjoyed listening to Sunset High School Choir singing this several years ago under direction of Gary Gadwood.

  • COW needs to shut up and get back into the Choral and let the real SINGERS sing.

  • Wonderful. I like this choir's tone. Great ending too, though....I wish there had been just another second or two on the tape at the end.

  • I wasn't saying that this way of singing wasn't as spiritual as my more favoured way, I was only saying I prefer the other.

  • We need more videos of this song being sung like this, but I want to hear one of a whole congregation singing, like we do at my church.

For some reason hearing all the different tones being sung at once and in differing speeds kinda ruins parts of the song, like I can hardly understand what they sing when the line "but still our ancient foe"

is sung.. it sounds like "but stugh ahfoe sweekoe"

Some gibberish cause like 10 people are singing that part at different times..

    Thanks for the upload!

  • for a forward thinking of god watch this man

    GOD RECYCLES THE UNIVERSE ANTI-RELIGION

  • Ladies and Gentleman this song is the Lutheran national anthem.

  • Yes! It is.

  • LOVE IT!

  • Best I ever heard. Simple Direct.

Says everything in the lyric and the music is virtually unsurpassable.

    Tom in Utica

  • do you know what year this recording is from? I sang for a couple of years in COW

  • this recording is from our fall concert this year.... october 2008.

  • ahhh I thought so. :) it sounded like a dr. nance choir.

  • please put up a recording of "Lord God, You have Called your Servants" by J Aaron Mcdermid

  • The PLU Choir of the West is simply the best Collegiate choir in the US. Their signature renditions of "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and "Beautiful Savior" are perfectly done. Pure Class and Quality. They need to tour more in Scandinavia and Germany where their origins are from.

  • hmm i think St Olaf would have something to say about that...No disrespect to Dr Nance or PLU but saying "The PLU Choir of the West is simply the best Collegiate choir in the US" is like saying its not even close

  • I would have used to agreed with you, however ever since that anton guy injected african crap into their reperitoire the high quality and class of their scandinavian heritage has been tarnished and it shows....look at their choirs of the past and the current one. PLU understands that the choral pieces that came out of scandinavia and europe can't be topped by anything else, and therefore they limit selections of ethnic music that in my opinion has no place in such quality choirs

  • As one that sang in C.O.W. my entire collegiate career, a rarity in itself, I'll have to disagree. St. Olaf and other Lutheran Universities are certainly well respected and rightfully so. PLU is certainly among them on fairly equal footing in terms of musical quality and ability. Ensemble style and repertoire choice will always vary from director to director, but ethnic, and new music (Whitacre) will always have a place at PLU. You aren't seeing the diversity of a full concert here either.

  • ya close-minded racist xenophobe

  • Not to mention Luther College and Concordia, Moorhead.

  • GREAT!
