I approve! Matchlock firearms are fantastic! my work in progress isn't looking to good right now though....On the last test the weld between the gas chamber and the barrel kinda poped and we had to re-make the entire ass end of the gun including the match system (Which is springed so it doesn't take so long for the ember to reach the powder)

I make my own matchlocks too but i use copper pipes . I made 2 muzzleloader muskets (1 is not yet completed) and one breechloader matchlock (cal 12mm)which use paper cartdridges. the locks of my breechloader and the unfinished muzzleloader are more similar to a standart matchlock (trigger back, pan middle, match-holder-thing front) trigger and the match-thing are connected with a wire. Im working on a ml-ml-pistol with adjustable match (cal 8mm)

I use usually for muskets two or more copper pipes one as barrel and the other as stabilisation. I think its not necessary for pistols. I dont use a welding machines

I only use metal saw, Dremel, hammer, drill machines, saw and some other tools. If u arent sure whether its safe to shoot or not make test firing (´place the gun between stones and pull the trigger with a rope or use a fuse).A welding machine is not necessary

Sorry for my bad english (im german) I meant that only the pipe in the middle is the barrel and the pipes arround are there to make it stronger (that it not explodes when firing) my guns have the cal 8mm (pistol) 10mm (first ml musket and a new not finished ml musket) 12mm (breech loader(bolt action) and not yet shot with muzzleloader (barrel lenght 80cm) The chamber is not necessary if you shoot with not much powder. I use as bullets pieces of pb/sn or many sn wire pieces(like a shotgun)

I think breach loader can be made easy using something like screw on the breach, or even ball valve, but it is dangerous

I once made some gun out of a 2,5 cm thick rock drill which has approx 6,5 mm straight hole in the center....little welding and adding some "gunpowder" from some fireworks and a .22 magnum bullet,it was time to test it......the bullet penetrated fucking over TWELVE CENTIMETRES of hard dry birchwood....holy fuck !

It was thunder-king and there was some fine silver/grey colored powder....it is fucking powerfull compared to normal blackpowder,and almost all fireworks have it (what I`ve seen). It ignites almost like blackpowder(more hard to ignite), but not hard with normal fuse. Thanks !

if you have a barel witch is closed at ne end and open at the other, you can stick in a fire cracker and then your projectile, light the fire cracker and its force can only push the projectile away because the otherside is closed

You could buy a cheap blank stock, carve out a valley for the barrel, and install a basic tigger mechinism, and use caps, not to hard. and you can use mild steel for the barrel, just make sure the wall thickness is adequate, simple, hell you could get the trigger mechinism from a donor gun with a screwed barrel. But be careful folks, a improperly built gun CAN cause death. educate yourself before attempting it, and btw, unregistered homemade guns are illegal, unless they are a black powder.

the combustion chamber is 1 inch thick all the way around the welding joints to the barrel are thick and mussle loaders arent that powerful. i think for a matchlock its preety safe
