@bigstickcop are you KIDDING?? we are talking about two people who are meant to be really good designers here, this isin't a stupid childish game of who hates you. this is a professional field. have you seen the other episodes?? the other designers did AMAZING jobs with only $10000 as well. if all the designers this show ever had couldn't keep up, then the budget would be the problem. but almost all other designers have done extremely well with the same money these two incompetent idiots had

@bigstickcop ANYONE can design well with an unlimited budget and unlimited time. The real skill comes out when a person has limited budget and time. So when a person isn't skilled enough to design well without having a monster budget, they turn to just blaming the budget instead of blaming their own lack of skills. Why not blame it on the budget? It's easy to blame something that doesn't have feelings and isn't going to fight back. Real designers don't need a huge budget/time to make do.

Y'all have to understand that as "lame" as some have said that place looks, the owners only had so much money to work with. It was a failing restaurant and the designer only had so much staff and money ($10k) to work with. The designers worked for very cheap.

those idiot designers turned that restaurant into what looks like a place to eat inside Target. i feel bad for the owner. the designers were obviously completely oblivious to the direction the owner wanted the restaurant to be (not some cafeteria looking place and something more traditional). designing isn't their thing, hence them being no-names. were they just random volunteers pulled off the street or something? maybe some free community service workers? lol...

"top designers" my ass. those were complete idiots. they just complain about budget instead of making it happen. a small budget doesn't mean you can't make something look amazing, it just takes awesome designers to make it happen, which those two knuckleheads weren't. they just used the budget as an excuse for their amateur incompetence. i doubt they'll ever make it as big name top designers with their shit skill set and excuse filled mentality. nice try lol.

the main difference between irving and ramsey is their styles. and the resturants that they are trying to save. most of irving's missions are under harder time crunches, but they DO have their basics in place. most of ramesey's people don't even seem to understand how to keep a kitchen clean.

This is maybe FoodNetwork's 2nd or 3rd attempt to do a Kitchen Nightmares-esque show -- I remember seeing one with Bobby Flay. I think this one will work better, and I like Robert's style (I love Ramsay, but Fox will never encourage the (admittedly marginal) restraint he shows on the BBC version). I think the designers were really good - the chairs were a problem, and I didn't mind their solution- the problem was really the chairs, not them, and the rest of their work was awesome.

@TheYoRomeo Depends on what you're looking for. They both have their audience. Irvine is a much calmer, more approachable version of Ramsay. He's not there to jump down their throats and beat them over the head until they get it.

They would have needed a week to get that hideous restaurant looking decent. I am surprised it came out as well as it did. So, I think they are getting a bad rep.

@veljoi I think it's 2 things: Robert isn't as bankable/backable as Ramsay, and Robert's "thing" is that he only has 2 days and a $10,000 budget. Without those restrictions, this show would be a kinder, gentler version of Kitchen Nightmares.
